Other than classic heavy metal bands with very dramatic, uplifting guitar solos and muliple octave ranged lead singers, I like music with easy going melodies, such as the beatles and beach boys. I think they were the mozarts of the past century, because of the change they brought to music. There many genres that are considered rock and roll. There are many that i like.

Besides Metal, I listen to various genres such as Baroque, Classical, Medieval music. I also like jazz/ fusion, music from films (BSO) and music from video games. This helps me to have a wider repertoire to play in my recorder.

There are many different varietis of metal; I like that comination of Gothic and metal.
Besides I've been trying some bands like Cannibal corpse,Mayhem and Cradle of filth.
When I started listening to music I used to hear Rammstein,In extremo and Theatre of tragedy; but They've let me down 'cause They've stopped making tours.
I actually love music from bands like Deep purple.

must admit i have a passion fer folk music (english/scottish) - like jazz/fusion, some classical (Wagner especially), most else i listen to is rock/blues based...i really can't appreciate modern pop/dance music...all sounds the same to me...pounding mass of noise to please the masses with no heart/soul in it...

METAL, TRANCE/TECHNO, HOUSE, INDUSTRIAL and whatever system of a down is considered.

I will list the genres I do not listen to. This is easier. Country and Western, Classical (I like Bach), Jazz (I like Myles Davis and Charlie Parker), Most of the rap that is played on the radio.

I have an extremely broad range of music likes and at the moment, as far as 'non metal' goes I'm going through a Fleetwood Mac and a Donovan phase. Somehow they ended up on my ipod and I was listening to them at the gym of all places..

Anything...that isn't modern country music (I like some of the old school stuff).  Other than that, anything goes really.  Techno, disco, hard rock, classical, Broadway, world music, jazz...there's really not much I don't l

Most of all, if I'm NOT listening to Metal, odds are I've got something from The Stones on.

Because of my Mom, my early formidable years were spent listening to Wolfman Jack, The Stones, Three Dog Night, Simon And Garfunkel and Johnny Cash.

No wonder I clung to Priest, huh?

Various types of rock (eg Gothic rock), punk, jazz, classical, baroque, opera, 'world' music, JRock, Visual Kei, blues, reggae, dark techno, soundtracks as well as a lot of other stuff I can't think of right now and others that don't classify so easily. I love a lot of music.

Good blues, classical, folk and general world music...ya know...whatever doesn't play on the radio or tv. I'm getting into folk music- of different countries -as I feel it has a richness in sound and tradition like no other. There are so many instruments out there that I never heard the sound of and it is so refreshing to me to hear them. The way the singers tell a story is not like pop or rock. I like how now there are many more metal bands than before and how they sing in their own language, bringing in a wisp of their cultural legacy to the forefront. Though most of the best metal bands around are english or american and sing in english, I sometimes get fed up with the anglo-saxon point of view, sound and attitude. Nice to know there is a big wide music output that isn't anglo-centric.
