ON THIS "FANPAGE" IS ONLY THE FAMILY OF GUIDODODL; HE IS A CRIMINAL BETRAYER WHO FINDS OUT WHERE OTHER PEOPLE LIVE AND DOES NOT LEAVE THEM IN PEACE!
[acolyte55] Friday, March 21, 2014 12:37:05 PM
Melvyn also did a bunch of Iron Maiden albums
[METALMANJP] Friday, March 21, 2014 11:58:56 AM

I was at the Masters of Metal Tour in 2008 and saw some guy with The Sword of The Gael tattooed on his back, his entire back !

[METALMANJP] Friday, March 21, 2014 11:55:37 AM

Yeah, now I have to read the book !

[guidogodoy] Thursday, March 20, 2014 10:23:44 PM
Hmmm. That is interesting and certainly deserves a real link:

I am going to have to say The Sword of the Gael, it is the cover of a book by Andrew loffutt, artwork by Melvyn Grant , based on a short story/fragment by Robert E Howard( of Conan The Barbarian fame ) and is about Cormac Mac Art a pictish chief, it was my screen saver for years and I have a son Cormac http://www.melgrant.com/sword-fantasy-index.html
[guidogodoy] Thursday, March 20, 2014 5:54:39 PM
Yup, quick Wiki proves that to be true. I was actually looking at the name on the closest bomb. Back of the LP confirms that it said "Melvyn." Of course, this is Melvyn Grant who:

" ... originally used as the cover for the novel The Steel Tsar) was also used for the US cover of Ballistix for the Turbo Grafx 16 and Commodore Amiga."

I'll have to stare at Hero, Hero a bit before I try to make an honest stab at it.

The Steel Tsar

Ok, tough to ponder but not google this one. Certainly wasn't on KKs site about the logos as I read that one from top to bottom recently.

War Machine! Bombadier! ???

Huh. There is a good one I can't name off the top of my head. Ummm....bottle cap that should have been used on a Stones album?

Yeah, I know, you said the revamped / second. Hmmmm......sealed version right in front of me. My fav Priest logo (LOVE the gothic script). No name on the outside, though. Only that Melvyn did it in 1981. CHARLIE! <==yeah, wrong but they do give credit to a "Charlie" on the back and hell if I am opening this LP. Curious to know the answer.

[acolyte55] Friday, July 27, 2012 6:36:24 PM
@headbanger not that the 4 horsemen were in the books but that the book made me interested in finding out what they were
[Head banger] Friday, July 27, 2012 8:04:38 AM
I thought in the books death had 4 handmaidens and War was a separate incarnation.  darn, just read one of them, will have to get out the pale horse and read it.

[guidogodoy] Thursday, July 26, 2012 11:13:20 PM
HAAAA! You are reaching. You didn't say that Famine was the missing song nor did you identify the proper icon on the horse.

So...um...how was that not completely wrong? lol

So famine was right. Just did not get the right color of the horsey. Not completely wrong.

[Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by guidogodoy from Thursday, July 26, 2012 9:50:03 PM)
[guidogodoy] Thursday, July 26, 2012 9:50:03 PM

Acolyte hit them all perfectly. Color of the horses is a dead-giveaway. Famine isn't a song on Nostra but is the third horseman. "Death" is #4 (always has his scythe and rides a pale horse); War has the battlaxe and rides a red horse, FAMINE isn't represented by a song but holds a balance as food was rationed; plus he rides the black horse and the typical iconography is plague on the white horse shooting down victims with an arrow. THAT is the only contested one as the white horse also symbolizes Conquest. Either way, he is covered by a Nostra title.

Famine was the answer. Acolyte nailed it obviously ignoring the "4 Horsemen" by Metallica. "Time" didn't play into the picture at all.

[acolyte55] Thursday, July 26, 2012 8:29:43 PM
famine, it is war, pestilence and plague and death on the nostradamus album
[Vaillant 3.0] Thursday, July 26, 2012 8:25:40 PM
Personally, I never really got who or what Horseman #1 was. "Conquest" isn't one of the Four Horsemen as far as I know without cheating, but he has his own song and page in the Nostra book. He also doesn't seem to represent someone suffering from famine, although there's no way to know if he is since he's covered in armor. At least Pestilence looks like he has some sort of sickness/decay and whatnot. Or maybe THAT'S Famine, since he's also extremely thin?

pestilence , war , famine, death
[guidogodoy] Thursday, July 26, 2012 5:57:45 PM
Nope and nope.

I was just thinking about this question. Unfair to both ask people to recall the image and name them. So, reading left (I'll call horse 1) to right (horse 4), both your answers are wrong.
(edit...reading the other direction the answers would have been wrong as well! LOL! Thanks for playing).

The fourth horse would be famine.  I think. And something about a  pale horse comes to mind for the second half, so white?

Now then, not being like the CHEATER below, who can name the following without looking it up?

As I was taking in my Nostra "4 Horsemen" poster for framing yesterday, it hit me that only three of the four are represented as actual songs in Nostra. Which of the four is left out? If you can't name BY MEMORY which was left out, at least name the ones that are in there. For extra-credit, which horserider represents the traditional views of the 4 Horsemen?

[guidogodoy] Thursday, March 15, 2012 6:30:03 PM
A fine (and logical) guess but I don't believe it does. Thinking back to Fast times, the only place it would have appeared would have been a scene in the mall. After all, most of the action takes place in and around the school and the mall (of course there are more sites like Jefferson's car..."First he's gonna shit, then he's gonna kill us!!!!" LOL). Obviously, the restaurants, convenience stores and I would be dead or gay not to give special recognition to the famous Phoebe Cates scene (Moving in Stereo!) but none have arcade games leaving the mall the only place where Pole Position would possibly appear. I don't think it does.

Not the answer I have, in any case. Mine is going to be much more a "ah crap...that is it" moment.

I'll let it hang to be answered for a while.

I took it as only Rob Halford written songs. MMJP would have said I needed three more songs to finish the list if he was counting the "obvious" ones we all know off the top of our heads. We will see.

Obviously not "written" by Rob et. al. but look at the original question. Priest / Halford songs. I read that to be non-Ripper era songs.

Perhaps a liberal reading of the question? I await clarification!

I've heard two Priest bootlegs one from 1980 and the other from 1981 in each Halford introduces Beyond the realms by stating it's a ballad from Stained Class and Unleashed in the East. Does anyone know why ? I could see maybe making a mistake once but not twice and not a year apart.

I think Unleashed was issued in Japan with different songs on it, but that was named Priest in the East.

I always considered that the beginning of Metal Gods and not the end of Rapid Fire. The "sound" it'self was achieved by slamming the very large front doors of Ringo's house with that large hall echo and compressed many times according to the BS video. Interesting new way to look at things.

What was the date of the very first JP gig?  Who was in the band at the time?

I never would have guessed. I tried to look it up before I posted the question.
I couldn't find anything.
Just curious, how did you know this? Peace!

The guy who played the 'extra' drum parts on the 86 Turbo tour was Jonathan Valen...he does have a number of people to back up his story!
He wasn't hired to replace Dave Holland but to play extra parts that would enhance the live sound..He is a talented drummer.
