I actually posted pictures from Cantabria (autonomous province of which Santander is the capital) not so long ago. The caves of Altamira have some of the earliest cave paintings and dinosaur fossils are all around the area. BEAUTIFUL! Keeping on topic? Weather...chilly! Not like Madrid in the summer. Avoiding any sort of major conglomerate enterprise? Good luck! You'd really be hard-pressed to find one that doesn't have tentacles in another nowadays.
No, I never heard of Banco Central Hispano. I only know Santander from going to Mexico over the years. Always thought it had a weird name but never thought about where it might've come from.
Again, learn something new everyday. And with a moral, too. Don't do business with Santander - it will eat you alive (as would any monolith of a company).

¡Cantabria! However, never heard of Banco Central Hispano, Vail? My father and Uncle were both were into starting Credit Unions early in their lives and THAT (the BCH) was a monster! It was supposed to be a "merger" back in the late '90s but Santander just took control and pushed their agenda. Bought up a ton of smaller banks and credit unions (sadly, some of which my father and uncle started) to become the monolith it is today. Hope it's not too rough out there, Ronny!
Watching the Spanish-speaking commentators kill time during this storm. Quite the sight there at Soldier Field. The fans huddled under the bleachers trying to stay dry while it's raining cats and dogs (with lightning). A rather striking contrast to the 1st half of the game (watching the Copa América soccer tournament).
Delay can go for up to 2 hrs. Any longer and the game will be delayed for tomorrow. Looking at the radar, looks like this could go for another hour We'll see.

Yeah, a shame that they had to cancel the show, but despite the headache that often comes with traveling, I would prefer knowing that the band is alive and well over seeing them getting fried onstage.
