Folks. It's been quite a while. I have sad news to report. Our dear old friend, Deep Freeze/Mike Berentsen has passed away from complications due to COVID. He passed away yesterday, 5/23/25. If you knew him via Facebook, Mychal Freeze is his name there, then please go and pay your respects to, arguably, this forums patriarch. ❤️

Read the book, not much I didn't already know except the in camp fighting. It's funny how when I was a kid I always thought they were all best friends and hung out together all the time. When you get to a certain level it really is just a business and you do what it takes to sell the music not what you really want to do. I always had the impression that Glenn was kind of a jerk, I still think he is an awesome guitarist but he kind of held the band back while he was running the show. I know it's just one side of the story but we'll see what Halford says in his book.
I like Maiden but I hate how they treated Priest, after all Priest paved the way for all the Metal bands that came along say after 1980.

I found "your on the run from the burn of the flamethrower" works nicely, but you gotta do it in robs voice or the best facsimile of him that you are able to produce

"You'll be set afire, like a tire by the Flammmetroowwah!" No? Ok, I'll work on it.
Flamethrower rocks, but that one fucking line your on the run from the stun of the flamethrower.
Just change stun. damned if I know what, but it doesnt stun

Yup! No sense keeping posts underground, eh? Firepower. With three more concerts on the horizon and TONS of playtime under my belt with the album, I still say that Flame Thrower is one of the best on the album. NECROMANCER as well as Firepower itself have grown on me tremendously and Traitor's Gate is just a balls-out masterpiece.
Make mine Priest <==who remembers THAT old slogan?
Just a post to keep everything active!! Had Firepower going non stop now since the release, haven't played one of their albums(rob included) this much since Crucible -Acolyte

Holy SHIT! Ben Weinman playing for Suicidal now? YEAH!
With Dave Lombardo still on drums, SUPERGROUP!! Bring back Trujillo on bass!
Saxon was 10x better in Detroit than Youngstown. The first night they had to cut the set short and in Youngstown they didn't sound that great either. In Detroit they said they were recording but they didn't say if it would be for release or not. Anyway not sure if that was the reason or they just got the kinks out but they were badass. A lot of old stuff too. I sat out Black Star Riders. Never liked Thin Lizzy and they are just more of the same. The venue was kick ass. I've been in a few theaters that had cool decor like that but I've never been in one that grand in size. Pretty spectacular place. It was a sold out show and crowd response was good. I would go to Detroit again just to see a show in that building. Great place for concerts.

I contemplated going to that show, but its a harder destination from here, more expensive, and I want to see lots of things in the Denver area.
fingers crossed that Rob sounds great in Loveland. not pumped for BSR either. dont need thin lizzy, and they are just half that anyway. last time thin lizzy was opening they came out to maybe 100 people. I figure I will get there in time to grab a burger while they are on

Really curious to hear from Headbanger. Not expecting anything negative he just doesn't seem like the fanboy type so we should get honesty. I'm wondering if he hears a difference and what he thought if so.

Rob was just a little off. Throat issues maybe? More often than not he sounded fine but several times his voice got really raspy and scratchy. Richie and Andy are doing great even though Andy isn't doing much. Richie is getting all the lead work. His only solo was during Hell Bent. They swapped out Angel for The Green Manalishi which I thought was cool. The real problem for me though is how much it doesn't sound like Priest. Richie is doing a great job and I think Firepower could be their overall best effort but he changes the classic songs so much that their is a noticeable difference. It would be great if they were a tribute act but they aren't so it's hard to take. It can't and won't happen but I would prefer to see Richie only do his songs live or stay true to the original if they have to do the older stuff. If you don't mind them sounding different you will love them right now. As a band they are playing really tight. A little more movement out of Rob this time around. Richie is great with the crowd. I think this tour is better than the last two. Probably not as positive as everyone wanted to hear I don't know. I strive for honesty. Take it how you want.
It may take me a day or two to post a review from colorado. an hour drive to the hotel after the show I will probably be ready for bed. have to email myself a link to the board so I can find it easier when there. But give it just over a week I will post a review here.

As per the below, where is the Detroit debriefing? Heck, I have video of that show already...where are the details? How did it go?

Well hope you catch a good day, then. Like arquitecture, you'll love it, then if it is nice. Walk around the Fox theater area by the new Comerica Park. Stop in at Hockeytown for a drink. Fox is where I saw one of the greatest Priest shows ever on the ROS tour. Another historic building. Just research where you ARE going before you go. Head in early and go to the Ren Cen (big ass glass GM building on the Detroit River) and walk Riverwalk a bit. Perfectly safe. Rainy / cold day? Park there and take the People Mover around to have lunch at Greektown. There are stops at the Ren Cen and within walking distance of Pegasus. Just doesn't go as far down as Masonic, as I said. Hell, you could try to slip in to see the Henry Ford commissioned Diego Rivera mural in the Detroit Institute of Arts right there depending on the timing if the weather sucks. No time? Temple bar! Park and walk to the venue!
HB, don't blame you a bit about Denver either. I dig that city too! Gotta give props to Detroit, though. Masonic would just be a damn cool place to see Priest!
Cool, thanks. Even more anxious now.
I do love old architecture as well. Sometimes my wife and I drive to Pittsburgh just to walk and look at some of the old buildings.

I would have loved to see them there. decided on Denver (loveland) cause it was cheaper, closer, and I wanted to see the area more [Show/Hide Quoted Message](Quoting Message by guidogodoy from Thursday, March 22, 2018 3:10:12 PM)

Oh, the Masonic Temple in Detroit is glorious! If you googled it, you have the stats. Certainly the largest Masonic temple but like the second largest STAGE in the world if memory serves. It is a freakin' historic icon! Right on the Cass corridor. Go with plenty of time to see it in the daylight to check out the arquitecture, not just at night. WIKI the thing!! Ya ain't gonna see much like it. 1920's arquitecture at its finest. Take advantage. I am way jealous. I'd LOVE to see Priest there.
As for parking? You have a ton of lots in the area. Just park you car deep so they'll steal a couple before they get to yours and you be fine...heh..seriously. No worries. Just don't be dumb. It is safe and lighted. Lots of movement in that area. It can get crowded if anything else is going on there. Catch some good weather? Head for Greektown for some food! Pegasus is right there at Greektown Casino. Fine choice. Cheap and good provided you don't have a thousand other events going on downtown. All the stadiums are there + concert arenas. The People Mover = the elevated train you can scope out on a map that'll zip you around the city in a big loop for fun and ease of parking (careful of what time it closes) but it doesn't go all the way out to Masonic. Close, though. Take a look at the map.
Hit me with a PM if you need any specifics. Again, jealous! Enjoy the show and the PLACE! Masonic is great!

Can't wait to see that venue. Googled it. It looks amazing. Part of my excitement for the show is the venue. Any parking tips? I'll gps it but is it downtown or no? Anything you have to say about it?
