Ya know, Venus De Milo is actually Greek. She is Aphrodite. Her arms at one time where atached and she would have held and apple in one hand.
Hence "Milo" meaning apple in Greek. She would have been an insignificant sculpture amogst a sea of sculptures of Aphrodite had she not, through accident or willful distuction, lost her arms. That is what has made her famous, and gives her the undeniable beauty of "mystery" she now has.
