Oh I didn't realise that Guido. I knew that he had died, but didn't know he was in Hail!. Very sad
Here's what the G-Taranaki website says about the Hail! lineup: "Joining Owens onstage will be guitar virtuoso Tony MacAlpine, legendary bassist Tony Franklin (The Firm/Blue Murder/Whitesnake) and Judas Priest drummer Scott Travis."   [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by guidogodoy from Tuesday, May 25, 2010 11:39:42 PM)

Good for you, Becks. Too bad the passing of Slipknot bassist, Paul Gray will mark some sadness on this tour. He was to take the place of Dave Ellefson who was slated to return to Megadeth.

Thought the Slipknot drummer, Paul Bostaph, was to tour with them, though. Read all about it when I read of Gray's death. Perhaps Gray's death shook up the drummer as well leaving the position to Travis?

Ok I am VERY excited about this! In August there is something in my home province (Taranaki) called G-Taranaki, an international guitar fesitval which started last year. This years headliner was announced a couple of weeks ago - Slash. I thought yep I'd pay to see him. But today it got a thousand times better! A band called Hail! are playing - formed by Ripper Owens, and guess who's on drums??????

SCOTT TRAVIS!!!!

I can't fuckin wait!!!!!! I'm actually going to see a member of Judas Priest live!!!!!! May seem small to some people, but I am so so excited to see a member of my favourite band live! I wonder if I'll be able to track him down and get him to sign something and get a pic with him, lol.

YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Damn bereaucrats to blame for that no doubt. A quality radio station gets the axe whilst reality tv goes from strength to strength.

Not that it matters. They're canning the whole station next year. He's just getting out early.

I got the impression they were sacking him and canning the show. Due to restructuring at the BBC or something. He mentioned a stay of execution a few weeks ago, hence the reason he's carried on to the end of May.

They're not dropping it, there will still be a Friday Rock show, its just that Bruce is leaving. I don't know why- maybe he decided it was too much what with the flying and Maiden and everything? Anyhow, I do know that the guy taking over is John Peel's son (so he has two legends to live up to). Whether its any good remains to be seen, I guess.
Certainly they will never get another presenter with a style quite like Bruce's.

'Good Evening, I'm Bruce Dickinson and this is  the Friday Rock Show right here on 6Music...' I should record his last show and bring it out when I'm feeling nostalgic...

Yeah, Clouds In My House by Voivod, off their Angel Rat album. One of the most underrated albums ever. It's nearly 20 years old and sounds like it could have been recorded yesterday. I listen to the show for the same reason, to hear new stuff. There's always something I've never heard before on that show. I can't understand why the BBC are dropping the show, I'll definately be checking out the final show.

That's really cool! I've sent in requests from time to time, never had one played but it doesn't bother me, he plays enough great tunes as it is.
What I am bothered about is that this coming friday will be his last ever show  its the end of an era. However I understand he will be dedicating it to RJD, so the show is going out on a high!

Just checking it out.... hey, was it the Voivod track? They're not a band I've ever listened to much before, but this is pretty good. And that is why I've listened to Bruce's show all these years, to pick up new bands and songs.

No but I told him about my show so maybe he'll check it out, that would be cool.

If anyone wants to hear it my song starts at the 50:15 mark and he reads the email afterwards. Just google Bruce Dickinsons Friday Rock Show.

How Cool is that JJ! He didn't by any chance give your web radio show a shout out did he? That would have been the greatest! Congrats!

A few weeks ago I emailed Bruce Dickinson to request a song on his radio show. They sent back an automatic reply saying that Bruce gets thousands of emails so don't be disappointed if we can't email you back etc, so didn't think to much more about it. Anyway yesterday I get an email from somebody who works at the BBC saying that Bruce will be giving me a shout out on his show that night. Not only that, he played my request and read part of the email I sent him over the air. Awesome to hear the lead singer of Iron Maiden mentioning me on his show which is listened to by millions of people around the world. It's made my week.
