Nope. My knee is really still sort of bothering me from the ski trip. I never gave it much chance to rest and, with a couple of long runs, pounded it back to really hurting.
Just trying to keep it iced down now is about the best I can do with it coming up so quickly. No sense running now as I think I'll have a better chance if I just relax....then blow it out again on race day! HAAAA!!! Texting riding no handed. Too funny.
My favorite is when I see just about everyone at 7:45 in the morning crossing the street (in this VERY little town) talking on the phone. I HAVE to see them because we have to stop for them in the crosswalks by law here. I mean, who the heck are they calling? Tokoyo? Checking their stocks, perhaps?
I guarantee, if I am up at that hour not a SOUL will want to hear from me. [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by Becks from Saturday, April 18, 2009 12:18:12 AM) | | Becks wrote: | | LMAO! CRAP! I am watching a show called "Untamed Alaska" and just saw an extreme skiier take one of the worst falls I have EVER seen. Trying to ski a peak never before done, loses control and went into a head over heels tumble of two stories per second. Hits a rock and snaps his leg to the degree that his boot hits him in the back of the head. NO HELMET!
YIKES!!! Nah, bit past my level of insanity. |

Over the last couple of years, this Board has seen many changes. As we all know, change is a constant in our world. Those that find they are unable to adapt to change inevitably will succumb to its dynamic. Such is life. We all evolve or we fade away. There have been a lot of very good and very bad members that have "moved on" and are no longer with us. That is a fact. But, more importantly, we have a lot of members that remain. I choose not to lament the loss of those which no longer join us but to embrace those that do.
It is my belief that each and every member offers us something. Even those that choose a path of discord. From them we all learn to support one another and the bonds of friendship are strengthened. From those that differ in opinion, we learn alternate points of view. Certainly I do not always agree with everything that is said here but I find that I am much better for the exchanges. Our lives are enriched through the diversity we have here and that means a lot. In my case, many of you shared in a dark point of my life some time ago. You were there from the beginning and there when I emerged from the other side. I will always be thankful that you were there.
Regardless of one's political affiliation, socio-economic situation, religious beliefs or personal views, each and every one of us on this Board share a common interest...Judas Priest. Through this band, we have come together. Through our friendships, we have stayed. For all the talk and griping and accusations and snipes, we stay. And we all make friends. I often lay in bed at night and, as I drift off to sleep, I actually think of you. I picture those I have never seen and try to imagine what you look like. I can see those I have met and I imagine hanging out and talking. I recall those that have made personal efforts to spend time with me. And I smile. Sometimes, I wonder what you're doing at that moment. Are you sleeping? Are you sharing with family? Working? Listening to some Priest? HA!!!!!!
We can say what we will about some of the behavior here. As much as I have always tried to show grace and manners I realize that I am human and I get caught up in the silliness just as anyone else can. We can declare our disgust and leave. We can take shots at one another. We can complain about those that are no longer part of our group. All of this we can do. But we can also share in the unique and widely varied personalities that make up OUR Board today. That's right, OUR Board. It is ours. Yours and mine. We keep coming here because we care. We defend because we care. We argue because we care. We laugh because we care. Most importantly of all........we care.

I noticed last year when JP tickets were on sale at the venues and through live nation there where other sites charging over 1,000.00 for the same ticket I had for way much less. Crazy, anyone would buy those tickets! Must just be people who don't shop around for the proper sites to pay that amount, but yeh it really sucks when a venue sells out and that is what your left with. Why am I not surprised... | | Deep Freeze wrote: | | You know, it is good to come home and see a stirring debate waiting for me!! HA!!!!!!!!!!!! I am fairly certain that everyone (or nearly everyone) here knows my feelings regarding education. There are many opinions and varying schools of thought on what higher education means in this day and age but, I remain steadfast in my position that a college education is still as important today as it has always been.
There are positions that are filled by people that are not formally educated. There are people that are incredibly intelligent who do not have college credentials. In short, there is always an exception to the rule. However, with the number of folks that are looking for work nowadays, the employee-pool has taken on quite a different look than it has had in years past. Even very bright, intellectual people are out of work. When this occurs, one's education becomes increasingly important. You see, I do understand what Tim was trying to say. You want the "right" person in the position, not always the most educated. But what happens when you have more than one "right" person? What criteria is used to further define just who is most "right"?
Of course, a lot of it has to do with the job at hand. We all know that different personalities handle different jobs with different styles. Depending on what is expected, one can even further narrow the choices. It really depends on the industry and the job description. I cannot speak for those industries with which I have no experience but I do know about mine. The financial industry, for all it's current deprecation, is still an industry made up of highly skilled, highly educated individuals. If I were to interview subjects for a position and I found that I had more than one who appeared qualified, I would absolutely look at their educational background. Absolutely. An education says a lot about a person. It is not just about being "book smart". It is about dedication and perserverence. It is about hard work and ability to achieve. Sacrifice and focus. Obtaining a degree is only part of it.
