Well, I have no great love for SUV's. Our rental is a Sportage and, of course, the Princess just loves it. Practical and all. I could do without it, though. Just a truck in disguise as far as I am concerned and I am not a fan of trucks, either.

The Mercedes 3 Series are nice. Problem is, the Princess has her son here and I am not too keen on kids (teenagers) climbing in and out of my vehicle. I do like a few of the new "muscle" cars. I am a horsepower fan. Maybe I will go that route?

probably not, since the distances are different,  north americans drive further and have less public transport options, so probably spend more on gas.  being more car reliant and spending so much time in the car makes the requirements different.

A fabulous Friday to one and all! Shuffling about this morning, stupid car on my mind! Starting to look like Ozzy the way and mutter to myself as I wander around here trying to decide what to do. HA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   Hope all of you have a GREAT weekend. I will be "in and out", as it were.

Well, that still means that you could pay half as much for gas than an average European does.

remember, gas costs half over here.  most cars are more thirsty.  most now are not uncomfortable, and the higher seating alows easier entry and exit.

Ugh... I take it youve never been to Italy. Hardly a car there that isnt bumped or damaged in some way.

Anyway, (another anti-yank rant incoming) why an SUV? Why are all yanks so crazy about them? Theyre thirsty, big, uncomfortable... Right?

come to calgary, our drivers are worse, and we have lots of snow.  I found driving in vegas decent, the best place I have driven was southern california.  havent driven in most states, but that one is good.  montana is nice, hard to judge the drivers though, you can go an hour at 95 mph and not see a car in either direction

bmw.  well, I know that its an acronym to help remember which is your water glass and bread plate at a fancy dinner.

small SUV???  Hyundai santa fe or tucson are nice, tucson I have only heard about.  all Hyundais lineup is nice.  skip the dodge caliber, as it sucks.  not an SUV, but I cant stand them, or the smallest jeeps that are clones of same.

Freeze, I agree the worst drivers are in Vegas. Last year my sister (who lives in Vegas) was rear ended by some crazy idiot (he did have California plates though).  She saw him coming in her rear view mirror and moved, he still hit her.  She ended up with a concussion and a totaled car. Sorry about your car.  Glad you were not in it, especially with your back issues.

Bizzare happenings with vehicles. I know the story well. I always park my car away from everyone at work so as not to get door dings, but I have strange paint scuffs (which will buff out) from incidents of unknown origin.
This fall I had some sort of road hazzard thrown at me which I could not identify right away, I was looking and saying "What the F" and that is all I got out, ....but as it hit the car at the windsheild, made a loud bang, and then fell away my first instinct was to look out the driver's side window, which was GONE!
I drove for about 80 miles more before I got the nerve up to look at the outside of the car. Amazingly, the only part of the car damaged and gone was the driver side mirror, not one nick or scratch on the rest of the car!
Needless to say I was happy and thankfull.
I carry zero deductable on comprehensive so I got it fixed for FREE! ......................Yes!
