Spa, It's the business aspect that fascinates me.  Tish (my friend) and I had planned to co-own an image consulting business.  Then she moved to Phoenix, and the rest is history.   I'll leave the discussion again, unless I have something I think can be considered an answer ... LOL
[momo] Tuesday, February 24, 2009 5:23:58 PM
John Ellis?

I did not say I did not like the cover but I think if they could have seen at least some of the movie in the can when approached.  They would never had agreed to put that song on that movie soundtrack. All that business stuff again I don't know about.

[Bev] Tuesday, February 24, 2009 5:08:06 PM
I like Johnny B Goode; still think Solar Angels would have done well in the movie too.
And, your right, the band should have been able to pre-screen before making a decision.  Wonder why that didn't happen? hmmm? Not a did at management either.  There must have been some logic behind it.
[adrianaec_88] Tuesday, February 24, 2009 5:07:28 PM

They should have let the band screen the Movie before commiting to Johnny B. Good. I think it would have netted different results.

Hey gang...how's everyone tonight??...Strat and Bev, 'Reckless' was the song they wanted for 'Top Gun'...Priest mgt. thought the movie would flop so they denied the request...they also would have had to leave the song off the 'Turbo' release as part of the deal...personally, I think 'Reckless' is one of the best songs off the record!!!...then mgt. thought it would be good to do Johnny B.Goode...

Ok, here it is.
One of the songs planned for "Twin Turbos"
was covered and released before Priest.
Glenn was really pissed about it.
Which song is it and which band has covered the song?

Michael, if your still about, would you like to take the next question?

[spapad] Tuesday, February 24, 2009 4:41:30 PM

Michael you are correct!

Take on the World was released in January of 1979! The Bristish really liked it because it went well with the soccer games, think they used to play it like we play songs during football, but I can't quiet remember that part very well.

Bev, as always you are much appriciated! And You are correct! I was a little bit off PC with my last Question, should have been kinder with my commentary. I stand corrected.

I love this thread. I'm gonna learn so much here ...   Like I wrote a couple of years ago, I am really nobody in the grand scheme of things just another fan.  And until I joined JP.com, had been out of "the loop" for some 14 years.
Thanks all for sharing your knowledge.  Love it!
[spapad] Tuesday, February 24, 2009 3:41:57 PM
What was Judas Priest's first hit single in the UK?  Topping the charts at 14.
[spapad] Tuesday, February 24, 2009 3:35:22 PM

Yes Michael you are correct and you too MG~ on the first name.
On April 4, 2003 Ms. Lissimore had her claim dismissed by a judge and was ordered to pay 100,000 pounds in court costs.

As for What Mr. Downing is doing with Astbury I have heard a ton of different stories and will not venture a guess as to which one is correct. I'm sure when he is ready to go public with his resort? he will let everyone know all about it. Good for business.

I find blabber mouth a source of slander.... They print such half-truths its riduclous.. Just to try and people to read articles... they tend to put a slant on stories.. Just like the news media..LOL

That web site posted show cancellations of the priest ect.. and they were not true... Such as the winnipeg show last summer..

Maybe Spa knows something I don't.  I don't believe he's ever run a B&B out of Astbury. I've been wrong lately .. a lot, so don't count on my information as accurate - LOL  He has an open invite to anyone who wants to go there.  He's mentioned it in the Q&A at the SteelMill.

Could be. It would fit in. I heard that they were considering "Reckless", which would, imo, be much better than Danger Zone... Dont know why they didnt take it, tho.

hmmm...?? I thought Solar Angels was one of the songs selected for TopGun, too.
[Bev] Tuesday, February 24, 2009 3:14:49 AM

In an attempted to turn the kharma back to a positive ...  the woman was misguided, believing she was owed anything for maintaining the property while Ken was away.  In that alone she served a purpose.  She was not entitled to what she claimed she was entitled.   That I will defend staunchly.  I believe the story goes that she left her chosen profession as a chemist to move to Astbury, but I don't remember her name, sorry.

OK, doesn't mean I'll be up to answer it tonight, but here's the question:
What is the name of the useless girlfriend who tried to sue KK for part of his estate after living off him for nine years, and said that she had put  "skill and time" into Astbury Hall, and felt she deserved Half of it's value.

While I'd love to continue playing and I love that new rule, I have to go soak for a bit. Nashville Marathon coming up and I have upped my short runs to 6 miles every other day. Long run (10 miles) coming in a couple of days and I must keep this well-oiled machine that is my bod in prime condition.

Back later and goodnight to all those early sleepers / folks in different time zones. Glad we are all back online.
[Becks] Monday, February 23, 2009 5:41:23 PM

Ok then, here's a question I posted earlier but no one answered cos about 3 questions got posted at once LOL!

Taking in to account the original air date, how old was Rob when JP performed on the Old Grey Whistle Test?

[ron h] Monday, February 23, 2009 5:38:46 PM

[spapad] Monday, February 23, 2009 3:42:48 PM

HB I think it would have been royalties from the sale of the soundtrack, which was alot considering it's one of the top selling soundtracks of all time.
