Not sure how many albums that would knock off the contract, but quite a few I'd imagine.

$160 REAIS? Meu Deus do ceu.
No advertising in a country like Brasil is an atrocity. Country of fanatics that would have flooded the place with even the slightest of promotion and, as you say, better opening bands.
I have always said that Detroit is a Metal Metropolis but I am sad to say that I fear the same is going to happen there. I can only hope that my gut instinct is wrong.

People, let me tell you all something. It's September 15th and Priest are here in Brasilia, Brasil TONIGHT! But I'm not there, why? I'm tired and really don't want to shell out R$160.00 (they discount their price from R$300/ticket) to go to a more than half empty stadium. Labor is CHEAP here in Brasil which means they (Priest management) could have had some cheap labor paint some Priest concert advertisements on the concrete walls like every other band; plus some radio ads or 1 billboard....but NO...NOTHING!
My gosh, Iron Maiden came here 3 months ago and there was advertisment everywhere including a Iron Maiden Billboard ad right outside my apartment building plus radio ads for 2 solid weeks before the concert and guess what.....SOLD OUT! Furthermore Priest is here with 'White Snake' and I'm sick of old, out dated bands. My God Priest can't get a young fresh metal band vs dragging out old dead bands like Queensryche, White Snake? these band were good 20 years ago but come on!!!
When Priest did the Nostradamus tour they touted that they were most pround of Nostradamus BUT we got a cartoon video of 'WAR'...wow!! What about the other 3-4 songs that were 10x better? Then on tour they didn't play shit from Nos. just 2 songs..Prophecy and Death...wow!
I have loved JP for the last 30 years but since Painkiller they've had their heads up their asses when it comes to promotion. videos, producers (or lack thereof.)
KK was smart to sit this out and focus on his golf course! Edited at: Thursday, September 15, 2011 8:05:48 PM |

They turned into a joke on May 25th 2011 when they went on that shit fuck show called American Arsewipe!
Since that,i have not listen to a Judas Priest album and i am even embarrassed to be a Priest fan!
I won't wear a Priest shirt cause i don't want someone say to me,i saw them on American idol,so i stick with me Gorgoroth and Black Sabbath shirts!
Why i even come in here anymore,i don't know.
There are a few people in here that make laugh and that is why i guess!
But anyways, now with all the greatest hits cd's on the go i guess they are trying to cash in on American Idol fans and maybe, just maybe, they are going to be on Glee with Parental Guidance.
If so,well,i would not be shocked now!
On that note, take of yourselves and of each other!
Peace and love!

That is very possible. I'm sure every band has different obligations to fulfill based on their contracts with the record label. It all depends on JP's contract whether they have any say or not about what is put out as well.

lol Jimmy...."K.K." could be the reason the band is fucked up now as his Nostradamus ideas ( and yes K.K. started the Nostradamus project /ideas ) are the reason the band started to degenerate into a farce,if he would of shut his ego mouth and just followed Rob and Glenn into another normal metal album instead of dreaming up Nostradamus the band would of had a british metal album out already,Rob and Glenn realized that ending a career on Nostradamus seemed wrong....unlike "K.K.'' who was absolutely fine with that being the last Judas Priest album.....go figure....just my guess from what I know....
They were forced into a British Steel reunion tour because Ken didn't want to make another album and was still in the band and the management did not want to tour the nostradamus album like K.K. wanted to because it would not sell,so there ya go...but I do agree that the band & management are rehashing these lame compilation albums/live/best of.....it is a joke so I do agree with that. Now go figure....K.K. is out of the band and Rob and Glenn want to do a normal british heavy metal album again.....its sad to say but I believe K.K. was the entire downfall of Judas Priest starting in 2006 when the Retribution tour was over and when he started to create Nostradamus.
How could K.K. let Nostradamus be the last album in a "heavy metal "band's career? It just doesn't make any sense at all.....I'm glad Rob and Glenn are making at least one more album to top Nostradamus from being the last LP,no matter how good or bad it is it will definately be better than the shitty Nostralullaby album.

I'm not sure how much the band really has to do with this. Remember that survey sent to some people? It was from SONY. They asked about other bands we listened to. This was the record companies way of cashing in on Priest yet again without having to spend much money since everything is already recorded. But who do they think is going to buy this? Die hard fans already have everything, so we aren't going to buy it. They need to release stuff that we DON'T already have FFS, if they want us to spend our money.
Same goes here in the States - no promotion about the tour at all. But then again, it's managements decision how much money goes into the promotion budget. They just don't get it, you have to spend money to make money. I'm still running into people that have no idea that Priest is even touring right now and when they will be coming around and the Detroit show is in 2 months. It's just fucking sad that they are going out this way....

going from disheartened it could be all over, to maybe its time , really lemmy picks BTL!!! really????? i read the post below about the lack of advertising done by priest to promote their concerts and i have to agree, the most i have seen here in b.c. canada so far is at my local water slide for 80s night, win tickets to( in descending order ) santana, janet jackson then judas priest!!!! WTF a water slide is advertising the mighty? priest! . they might be able to rest on their laurals if they didnt avg. 1 album every 5 years. thats why with iron maiden , even though their last 6, 8? albums are marginal, have such success, they are out there every 2 years promoting and doing live shows and keeping the iron maiden brand a household name and on our side there seems to be a lot of apathy. we are all crying out for a new album but i think a lot , and i mean alot of us would be extermely happy with a back catalog/open up the vault tour, strip it down and make it intimate , a homage to the die hard fans out there!!!!, that being said, epitaph oct 30th in vancouver will absolutely kill , just how many other shows could have killed? , we will never know , sign me sad so sad |

What a kick in the yarbles. As if many on that list had any street cred left to "pick."
Would make a helluva concert, though. As for the compilation, I think I'll just mix my own and invent the commentary.
