The woman is a champ! To fight stage 4 cancer for the length of time she has. She is testament to not give up, until you, yourself are ready to lay down.
Very inspirational person. [Show/Hide Quoted Message](Quoting Message by Deep Freeze from Thursday, May 14, 2009 8:05:39 PM)

Honestly, I get that. I really do! I have no belief that Fawcett OR O'Neal are "selfish". My problem is that the whole bloody thing is just so morbid and depressing! If it is a matter of trying to get people to be proactive, do a PSA spot or something!! To run an hour long show on network TV and show someone being eating alive by cancer is just TOO much for me. WAY too depressing. I mean, I have enough reasons to get bummed out in my life as it is! I sure as hell do not want to watch someone suffering and see the family dealing with it on my TV!!!!!!
I guess there are many points of view on the matter. I know without a doubt that I will not be watching it. I am certain there are many that will. I always liked Farrah Fawcett. I was a teen when she was so popular and I had the famous poster on my wall. Perhaps I would just prefer to remember her that way...?

It's an awful thing DF, but I think Farrah's reason's for wanting to share this part of her life are not selfish. I do believe she has good intentions, to maybe help others be more aware and more proactive in seeking treatments and not always feel satisfied, when a Dr. says all will be well now. She was shell shocked by this and it sends a strong message that if this happens to you, don't let anyone tell you no, this cant be done. Fight. Even when all seems well, don't let your guard down if you have ever had cancer. My father had cancer years ago and won the battle, but to this day he and his Dr. are very proactive and always go one step further if he gets ill with any digestive issues to ensure there is no return of that cancer. His own sister was misdiagnosed, and died from the same cancer about 4 years ago. So, it pays to be aggresive for your own cause.
Deep Freeze wrote:
Funny you would mention this, guido. The Princess and I were chatting about it last night and are of very differing opinions on it.
She wants to watch it. I do not. I find the whole thing an incredibly morbid and depressing idea! I mean, I am SO sorry that this beautiful lady has been stricken with such an insidious, horrible disease but, quite frankly, I do NOT see any television entertainment value in watching yet another family suffer the unspeakable anguish of a slow, cancer-related death. None at all.
I find despair and sadness in my life rather easily. ..if I choose to look. The very last thing I want to do is sit in my chair and see another human being slowly die while their family members watch.

Sorry. Not without more info. Could be anything from the opera, Don Giovanni, to Don Juan de Marco - Bryan Adams.
One of my favs. Tirso de Molina writes "El burlador de Sevilla" that is later taken up a generation later and fleshed out into "Don Juan Tenorio" by José Zorrilla - the one most think of when Don Juan is mentioned. Been redone COUNTLESS times in many languages.
A little help narrowing it down and I probably do know it. Bit of a fan, if you didn't notice. [Show/Hide Quoted Message](Quoting Message by spapad from Friday, May 08, 2009 11:17:01 PM)
