Think about it...Betty White was on Matchgame, Family Feud (celebrity, I believe) and the Roast we watched tonight. Scary.

Matchgame was hysterical, especially when it got a little dirty! But dirty back then was still clean, compared to today, where nothing is left to the imagination. | | VICTIM OF METAL wrote: | | here a game show that was fun and funny, Matchgame! remember it,most of the stars were drinking or drunk,so it seemed. the show really worked, because they sometimes had very dirty minds, lol. |

Dawn of the Dead (new).
John Carpenter's The Thing.

Uhhh...yeah bro. We were all just watching the same show (for example), lol!
That is one of biggest differences I see. Where you get shock value humor in these newer ones, the older Roasts were cleaner but damn funnier. I ask you, is there any comparison between Jerry Lewis and Andy Dick?! It is almost like they have to laugh at his idiocy as most would probably just punch him otherwise. The best thing that absolute TOOL Jimmy Kimmel has ever done was to put Priest on his show. It was painful to watch up until their segment. Prophecy, who woulda thunk it. [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by caronctm from Sunday, October 19, 2008 2:58:15 AM)

Dean, the drunk funny man was incredible, especially when put together with his cohorts like Jerry Lewis and Sammy Davis Jr.
Add in the rest of the rat pack and do nothing but laugh till it hurts!!!!

Since I had to stop my Priest DVD to take that screenshot, I just HAD to join you two with some tri-state Comedy Central bonding! LOL!! This was a good one. Some really stink and, like SNL are a weak throwback to the original Fryer's Club Roasts. Dean Martin was just too damn funny! How 'bout that for one classic funny guy? Hi guys!
I too miss "classic" t.v. And S.N.L. of old! Hilarious! Nothing can touch the ensamble cast of James Belushi, Gilda Radner, Loraine Newman, Chevy Chase, Steve Martin, Garrett Morris, Jane Curtain.
It's sad to watch what was such a great show, now be so unfunny.
Thank goodness for Nick at Night.
Oh and I just got done watching an old Star Trek episode on the CW11.
Now I'm watching the Comedy Central Roast of William Shatner. |
