Metal Goddess,
Also, the pics below are from a Joedraper, not of my white and silver persian, Jackson. I could see where it looks like they go with me email to him about their cuteness :)
[Rebel 06] Wednesday, June 24, 2009 2:33:52 PM
That is so cool, people have no idea cats are actually smarter than dogs. Prince, the cat that passed away would stop on a dime under my command. I carried him under my arm to the vet, no leash, no container. just put him on my lap and said "Stay" The vet never said anything, they had no worries.
That sounds really fun with the light switch. It is so cool when their minds switch on and they get it!!!
I waited longer to train Jackson and honestly do not have the time I did at 19, plus am a single parent of a 7YR old. He did learn how to sit in less than 10 minutes.
I have never seen silver fur. It is like the crayon color, not gray. Really cool.
Do yours get along together?
[Sinner Rider] Wednesday, June 24, 2009 2:26:40 PM
Wow... What a amazing cat.

Can anyone tell me how do you upload with the URL... I'm having issues..
[~ MG_Metalgoddess~] Wednesday, June 24, 2009 1:49:20 PM
HI Rebel,,,  I Have 2 ragdolls, a flame point and a bi-mitted seal point...  they are so smart..

My 1st ragdoll I owned his name was chucky.... he used to turn the light switches on/off, by jumping up in the air , hitting the switch....

My one kitty I have now Mini me... he plays fetch... he brings Alumin balls, back .. I have to make him one everytime I use the foil,  he goes nutz...

This guy is getting huge! He's a food addict now lol. Can you believe he's healed up so well? A true miracle!

[Rebel 06] Wednesday, June 24, 2009 12:26:07 PM
I have a silver and white persian(pug face) with green eyes, Jackson.  He is only 9 months old. I have tought him to sit but cant get him to come or stay.
He is the most beautiful cat I have ever seen( bought him from show cat pedigree or I should say my boss bought him for me for X-mas)
I had my previous Black persian, Prince just pass. I had him for 18Yrs. I trained him to come, sit, laydown and stay. I had him for half my life.
I was lost when he passed.
Then, Savannah & I saw these kittens trick or treating but with a $550 price tag. I kept talking about him and my boss said I will buy him for your Xmas.
What a blessing!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm going to have to take a camera with me someday while walking Lucy. She's such a mild mannered little dog you would never believe her hackles stand up so tall when she sees or hears another dog.  From the back of her head all the way down her spine her hair stands on end. Looks like she's got a fish fin down her back. Too cute.

There I was completely wasted,
Out of work and dumb.
On inside its so frustrating,
As I spam from thread to thread.

You dont know what Im like
You dont have a clue.
If you did youd find yourself,
Laughing like a fool

Braking my brain, Braking my brain
Braking my brain, Braking my brain

So much for all my accounts,
I cant even spam
Ive head every account banned,
Theres nothing in my head....

Braking my brain, Braking my brain
Braking my brain, Braking my brain

You dont know what its like!

Braking my brain, Braking my brain
Braking my brain, Braking my brain
There. I wrote the lyrics, you can make the video yourself. You know who you are.

I had a dog that used to listen to anything loud but we put her to sleep yesterday and man! There was a really beautiful thunderstorm the night after we put her down. And there were holes in the clouds that looked like my dog Ginger holding a rode in her jaws.
I swear, she was the most beautiful and loyal dog ever! Like I remember this lady had two really mean dogs that she would walk without a leash and Ginger snuck out of her yard and kicked both of those dog's asses and in the middle of the ass-kicking, my dad called her and she came immediately without hesitating which is rare in dogs to do that.

R.I.P. Ginger

HB, my older sister used to find me an excelent pet and source of entertainment for her! She could do things and blame them on me, she could boss me around and if I did listen she told on me, and her favorite part of all was catching me doing anything I could concievably get into trouble for, I stayed grounded for almost two years, thanks to her and she enjoyed every minute of it! Oh Mark how sad..  Iam sure if you live in the states???  maybe there is a Vet Hospital/school where they may charge a lesser fee..  But I can imagine it still may be spendy..   Yes our pets are like our children,  Will kitty be able to function/walk normal again? even after treatment....  ??  I think in terms of quality of life also. But that is just me.
Try calling a College in your area where they have Vet courses ect.  they may even know of someone, if they cannot provide help.   Or Just call a college in your local area they may know of a place.

A few years ago my dog poked the hinge area of his jaw with a piece of raw hide bone, it was infected ( of course)and dislocated his jaw.   600.00 is what that little venture costs me..  they had to put him under to push his jaw back into place, and inject a antibiotic in the area, then he was on meds..  for 2 weeks, including pain killers,, poor little guy.
And buy him diff food because he couldnt chew properly for a month.... GAWD....
I have never given a bone/rawhide since..  just all natural doggy treats.

If I had all the money I have spent on the vet, I prob could own another house by now.  But I look back at all the joy and fun I have had with my pets, and understand that  yes, like children, they rely on us as their parents/owners to take care of them the best possible way we can.

I hope things work out for the best for you..
Hugs MG~

I have a dog (I think Finnish Spitz), that I had ever since I was 5 (10 year old girl now) named Ginger. My gramps found her on a highway and saved her from being put down in the pound (There was a cop that was gonna take her right when my gramps got to her and convinced her to give him the dog beause she's so pretty) and she's still about as hyper as a puppy too... lol... I have one happy and healthy dog. But my dad and I fight for who gets to have Ginger listen to Rory Gallagher or Judas Priest.. but I win... like always.

He has actually bitten Craig before! He's never ever tried that with me. He also snapped at the kids when they used to go near his food bowl but I was told by the lady at Puppy school that it was because the kids being toddlers were small and he saw them as cometition for food. She said as the kids grew older he'd feel less threatened. I can do whatever I want with him. Much like you say taking a bone away from him whilst he's chewing on it etc.
I think that being a Jack Russell male, he's very cocky and thinks he's the size of a lion! lol

Hmmmm. I could be totally off base on this, but it sounds like you are the alpha - Derek respects you and does what you say. I don't think he thinks of Craig the same way. Our German Shepherd saw me as the leader of the pack. He did what my husband said most of the time, but if he was keeping Wolfgang away from me because I couldn't have a puppy underfoot, Wolfgang challenged him by growling at him. BIG time no no. Mark got right after him immediately and I came to see what what going on. I made sure to back my husband up and Wolfgang got the message. When I had my boys, we had to make sure that he understood that he was at the bottom of the pack. Don't get me wrong, we love him dearly and he is definitely a part of our family, but he knows that he answers to all of us. The boys can take anything out of his mouth, even a steak bone and he won't do anything but look up at you and hope you give it back to him. I think Craig needs to establish his dominance and all of this will be resolved. I hope the book helps you like it did me. Good luck and keep us posted!!

Thanks HRMG Derek turns one next month. The hard part of all of this is that he was toilet trained AND went to and graduated from puppy school with flying colours.. I think that him and Craig need to work on their relationship but Craig is pretty sick of trying to not upset the dog all the time. The kids and I love him dearly and so far, that is his only saving grace. If it was happening to me, I think I'd feel the same way that Craig does. He's been pretty patient I just hope that we can crack this problem. He's a totally different dog when Craig isn't around and trust me, he doesn't even raise his voice to the dog so idk..

I'm going to try find that book online and that together with Guido's suggestions.. maybe we'll be succesful!

Oh right you are about that "leader of the pack" mentality. Completely forgot to address that point and I completely agree with YOU there.

Funny story but when my father (Mr. dog know-it-all) gave me that book upon seeing how wild Calvin used to be - duh, he was a street dog that just walked up my drive one day - I read a bit and put it on the shelf. Among the handful of books, Calvin picks THAT one out and eats it! LOL!

I completely agree with Guido, crating works! I don't know if Derek is a puppy, but our breeder/trainer recommended a book: How to Raise a Puppy You Can Live With. I used this book to train Wolfgang and it worked wonders. It can also help with older dogs too because you train them the same way, it may just take a lot longer to break them of their bad habit(s). I think you may be right about Derek challenging your husband for leader of the pack by peeing on his stuff. Ever watch The Dog Whisperer? He amazes me... he has helped so many dogs that may have otherwise been given away, or worse. His big thing is establishing leader of the pack through taking them for a walk on the leash. This book goes through that too. I really think it will help you.

I'm sure you found this one right away: www.k9web.com/dog-faqs/crating.html

Pretty good basic info. Calvin was not a puppy when he arrived on my doorstep whereas Nina, while a puppy, was just mis-trained. I thought I'd NEVER get her to learn but she is pretty darn good now. As the above link states, both dogs loved going to their crates but there came a time when Calvin wanted to be out and about at night. He let me know (usually at 3am). He had learned by that time and has free roam of the house with nary an issue. Nina still likes the comfort of her crate at night. Keeps the two from play-fighting first thing in the morning as well. Oh yes, I also baby-gate off all the rooms where neither dog is permitted.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Thanks Guido, I'll google right now. This is so out of hand that I'm willing to try anything! I personally think that Derek is upset that Craig is the Alpha Male of the house. For ages he would target Craig and go out of his way to antagonize him. E.G: He'd get up from my side of the bed, go to Craig's and pee on him whilst we were sleeping. He'd pee on anything that was Craig's. And then he comes inside, door open wide so he has no excuses and goes and dumps on Zakk's bed? He never does this to anything of mine or Zoey's. I mean, I think he's trained he just does this for some other reason that I cannot crack. Been to puppy training and getting advice from the vet and nothing has worked so far.. I really don't want to rehome him but.. Craig has a point, he's been more than patient with this dog.

Hi, Joe.

CRATE him is what I would highly recommend. Easiest and fastest way to house train a dog if done properly. Look up to see how it is done, buy an appropriate size cage and stick to a regimen. If I could teach Calvin and Nina (EXTREMELY hard), there is hope for any dog.

Unfortunatly, Derek is winning no fans in this household. I managed to convince Craig into giving him one more chance and so far he's come into the house.. Pee'd all over the kitchen and band room and yesterday he came inside and Shat on my son's bed.. Not sure how much longer I can put up with this..

Thank you Ellieke and Lady B! He is the sweetest boy too. He intimidates a lot of people but he LOVES everyone (unless he thinks they are going to do something to someone in his family!)

Hello Hellrider, I got him from an excellent breeder in the dog show world. My old guy is now 12 so it has been a while since we had a Golden puppy. He is keeping me busy for sure.

I had a Husky once who would kill and eat anything. Turtles, small groundhogs, rabbits, fish, cats, she wrestled with a skunk and lost (and stank for months)  she even came home with a pair of dear legs one time the hunters up at a nearby  cabin had either given her, or she stole, who knows! The only bad side effect of this was she kept a tapeworm, and the medicine to rid her of that can be very explosive! In a digusting poopy way! LOL

LOL  Hellrider,, he hates the Vet...

Thank you everyone for your Kind words...

He is doing well....  He has what is considered food poisoning,  They said he must have ate something, that was rotten...  So He is on anti-biotics for a week, and a strict rice diet, with a small amount of moist food for flavor added to it...  He hasnt had the diarrhea since 12:30 yesturday afternoon.   and is in good spirits.   So I think he is going to be allright!!!!  YEA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We have searched the entire many times since Monday to see if there was anything he got into... I didnt see anything.,
But he also could have drank some of  water in a puddle or something, that contained the bacteria.. So who knows.

This dog Unfor, gets into everything.. he would eat shit on a stick if he could...LMAO

Hugs ~MG~

Most dogs instictively know, not to eat mushrooms. They may tear them up but normally don't ingest them. He could have found something rotten and dead in the yard and ate that. Be sure he keeps drinking lots of water. Poor thing, hope he feels better soon.
