FFS.. when is it ever a good idea to pass the ball to a dude lying down on the field? When?

Never cared much for Brazil but I just noticed from this game how many of the players were super cute. Heheh...no wonder N. Korea's team was all over them...literally. [Show/Hide Quoted Message](Quoting Message by Becks from Tuesday, June 15, 2010 10:33:04 PM)

Yeah that missed kick was a shocker! But strangely hilarious LOL!!! We'll see what happens with Moss' ban. Lochead isn't bad, I'm more worried about our older midfielders.
Sounds like Brazil were a disappointment - maybe soccer fans have just been spoilt a bit with their finesse over the years lol.

That was an awesome result for our guys to come away with a point. Can't wait until Moss' ban is over. That Paston is a real weakness at the back. I wouldn't be playing Lochead either. I think Moss becomes available again for the Paraguay game.

Yep, all on level pegging now, should be very interesting! We'll have to pick up our game, we're not a fast team but we have a lot of heart and don't give up.

I vote this the best game so far. The Brazilians, although they won, were IMO a BIG disapointment. Looking at statistics and predictions, they should have dominated the game, but really, they were lucky it ended with 2-1. The Koreans were great, played with all their hearts, and played like real sportsmen. Practicly no fouls, and when they did commit one, apologosied right away, no arguing with the referee... I really, really wish them all the best, and I will root for them in both games (or hopefully more) that they have in front of them.

You forgot to mention that I like gulags, purges, baby-eating and long walks on the beach.
Sorry, but Brazil wasnt itself tonight. If the mighty Brazil, the worst fear of every other team in the world, 5-times champions of the world, only team that never missed a world cup, had to wait for so long to score against such an outsider, and then even to recieve a goal from them... Sorry, I call it a disapointment. Brazilians are primadonas, which they always were, but there was a time when they were primadonas for a reason. Not anymore.
I was really afraid that the Koreans will go for a bunker, just defensive play with no attacks, but that wasnt so. They can really be proud of themselves. [Show/Hide Quoted Message](Quoting Message by guidogodoy from Tuesday, June 15, 2010 2:27:15 PM)

Well, if there needs to be a winner, there are tie-brakers. Not in leagues, or group stages of tournaments, when teams play for points (3 for a victory, 1 for draw, 0 for losing), but in knock-out games, there additional time of two times 15 minutes, if there is no victor after that, theres penalty shootouts. Its not like two teams can win the same trophy. [Show/Hide Quoted Message](Quoting Message by Deep Freeze from Tuesday, June 15, 2010 7:47:13 AM)

[Becks] Monday, June 14, 2010 9:50:50 PM
Well it's only a matter of hours till kick off in NZs first world cup match. I am very excited, going to catch some sleep before kick off at 11:30pm so I'm not entirely a zombie tomorrow LOL! [Show/Hide Quoted Message](Quoting Message by _strat_ from Monday, June 14, 2010 2:42:17 PM)

Well, I was rooting for Paraguay. I was delighted when they scored, and not so much when the Macaroners equalised. Good game overall. Is it just me, or is this world cup really a bit of a drag? Save for this game and yesterdays game between Australia and Germany, we are yet to see a really exciting match. Maybe tomorrow with North Korea and Brazil? I will be rooting for the Koreans in any case.
As far as your team is concerned, Id say that todays result is good, since neither of your future opponents got three points. But then again, its really to early to say anything for sure.

Then again, it means some really interesting situations. Not that long ago the Japanese team lost 2 -1, even tho they scored all three goals. [Show/Hide Quoted Message](Quoting Message by Head banger from Monday, June 14, 2010 12:33:24 PM)

So far it has gone pretty well and I hope that it does continue to go well. Yep, only the one report of the hotel burglary and the drunk Australian who passed out and woke up sanse wallet or cell phone but later on someone contaced him to let them know that they found his phone.
Yes, we are in a bad way but a shitload of insfrastsructure was upgraded and all the stadiums were freshly built up for the event so I do think that right now FIFA sort of own the country but the feeling in the air is very festivy and everyone seems to be getting along. I hope it lasts.
JJ bare in mind that the media will broadcast the worst about SA that they can. I'm not saying that it isn't bad but so far the WC seems to be running smoothley. There were a shitload of striking done before the WC but it seems to have been taken care of.
It's actually going pretty well I think, only the one riot so far that we've heard of and the cops quelled that pretty quickly. No tourists murdered yet that I've heard of. One Network News camera crew had their gear robbed out of their hotel, that was fucking funny because I hate One Network News. TV3 all the way for me.

Sweet, I'll see what I can do. Did you see that freakshow Algerian side play last night, the keeper, this blonde drag queen looking freak, made a howler of a mistake like the English keeper made. And then this crazy looking mohawk man on their team got sent off. Jeez it was funny.

Yeah! Germany is an excellent team, and very young too apparently. A bright future ahead for their national squad I think!
NZs first game is tomorrow and I am so excited. 11:30pm our time, against Slovakia.
I'd say the way Germany played, they ought to be one of the favourites right now. Awesomely played.

Had them set way up high on a shelf.
Well, I launch the ball full boot that direction and as soon as it leaves my foot, time slows to a crawl as I could see the curve coming. Right AT those figures. Yeah, I had friends over and we had a bit of beer. Man, I seriously shit three bricks in about 1/2 a second seeing the trajetory. Miracles of miracles, the ball hits BETWEEN both of these $1000+ statues, hits the wall and bounces right back. I nearly passed out.
Needless to say, there was no more ball-playing in the house after that little episode.

Dont underestimate Algeria either - they had to qualify from the African zone, which is a bit harder than qualifying from Europe. Id say that the tomorrow game will be anything but easy. Looking forward to Serbia - Ghana too (its probably not a great feat of thinking to find out who I will be rooting for).
