A another BUllet taken by the Metal community. The Greatest Guitar Duo has seperated. Goodbye to the Perfectly harmonized Singing loud blistering solo's. An exhibtion of pure presicsion as Glen & KK charge back to the Main Riff , and theMetal Glory.
We are losing what we love. We will miss the charge they put into our Lives.

I agree EE, the timing just doesn't make sense! Why would KK bail BEFORE the farewell tour?????? Since it doesn't seem to be health issues (I hope), he must have had a falling out with them or disagreement on the future of the band. Something! I just don't get it.

I know KK has his golf course now, but I'm sure he could get someone to run it while he is on tour.

I just don't see why he wouldn't do this one last tour FOR THE FANS!

In the words of Ricky Ricardo, KK, "you got some splaining to do!"

I think we can all guess what the reason is, but who really knows. I'm sure we will find out. A close friend of KK's confirmed he is NOT ill. Perhaps he is making enough money with his golf course up and running that he doesn't need Priest anymore???

JD, is it confirmed at this point that there is no illness?  As I stated, I hope it is the case.  I understand your sentiments regarding the last album.  I recall we agreed that the effort was there, but the results just didn't do it for either one of us.

I'm still numbed by this.  I just last night saw Bob Seger & the Silver Bullet Band  --Bob is now 65, counting backup singers and bandmates, there are 4 peple who have been with him for 40 years, plus former Grand Funk Railroad drummer Don Brewer is with him on this tour.  These guys had more fun than any other band I have ever seen play live --seriously, it made me enjoy the show that much more  --and it was a hell-uv-a show, he played everything.

I guess what I'm getting at is that it's just hard for me to take in that, after nearly 40 years and everything these guys have been through, that this has happened  ...NOW! ...on the eve of a self-proclaimed FAREWELLL TOUR!  Hard for me to accept.

Since K.K. is not ill....THE HELL WITH HIM!!!!  I'd rather have ONE last heavy kick ass record without K.K. than to have him still in the band and release another Nostradamus!!  Bring on Richie Faulkner to help Rob ,Glenn,Ian and Scott record one last "REAL SOUNDING" Judas Priest album....at least it will have Rob,Glenn and Ian....3 members still from the Rocka Rolla album....

Well, as most can concur with --I am shocked to hear this news.  My immediate thought was health issues  --which I really hope isn't the case.  I would rather there be a big blow-up amongst KK and the others than an illness.

Man, I think back to the wasted years from '93-'03  --I really wish, now more than ever, that Rob would have never left in the first place.  That being said, I understand from his point of view why he did.

I think this does it for me.  I really enjoyed the BS 30th anniversary tour  --loved hearing The Rage and Steeler live for the first time--  and now I will look at that as the JP swan song from my point of view with 8 JP shows under my belt.

I don't want to see the Epitaph tour without KK shredding from the left side of the stage.  I don't care how potentially good the replacement may be  --he is a replacement.  I never saw JP without Rob and I won't see them without KK.

Best of luck to Rob, Glenn, Ian and Scott --and to the fans who will partake in the Epitaph tour.

While it's a relief to hear that nothing is wrong with his health, it leaves me even more puzzled on what the hell is the actual reason then?

This gives new meaning to what Rob said when they announced the Epitaph tour in Dec. : "We have more to say but we are going to let this settle first....."  We all thought they meant they were writing a new album was "the more they had to say" but that never made sense to me since that would be a GOOD thing. THIS was the other thing they had to announce - yes, I believe it's been in the works that long.

K.K. is not ill, just heard it from someone in the know.......

WHAT IN THE FUC$%# HELL IS HAPPENING!!!????

nooooo...I refuse it...I won't take it, this is not happening, it's just a bad joke...it should be "KK is NOT retiring"...WAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

It just can't beeeee....it...it...it's a nightmare...it was just one last tour, WHY???!!!!!
[Udo Sapper] Wednesday, April 20, 2011 11:31:50 AM
This hit me like a hammer. The greatest guitar-duo has come to an end. I just hope KK is fine and doesn't have any issues with his health. Fingers crossed for him although at the moment I'm worried as hell because this all doesn't seem to make any sense to me...

Hails,
Udo

I too am at a loss as to why this is happening. KK always seemed like the one who enjoyed touring the most. I could understand if it was Glen as he is the oldest. Like others have said, I hope it is not health related.

I just don't understand why else KK would bail on the FINAL tour for the band he has given his whole life to! It just doesn't make sense.

As a fan, I selfishly want him to do the final tour so we can see the Priest we all know and love one last time. It just won't be the same without him. If it is health related however, I hope that he gets better soon from whatever is ailing him.

I had come to terms with the fact that they were doing one last tour as they are all getting old and was really looking forward to one last kick-ass CD as well. However, all that is tainted now that KK is not going to be there. A KEY ingrediant to the JP puzzle will be missing.

For me, this is worse than when Halford left in the 90's as I somehow knew they would eventually get back together. This time though, it is the VERY last tour and probably last CD as well and to not have KK there just plain sucks! It's not right!

I respect his decision to retire and wish him all the best, but it doesn't mean I have to like it. Damn!

OK what in the the hell is going on here?! Seriously this has got to be a joke!! Someone please tell me this is just a publicity stunt or something! This can't be happening!
[Demonizer13] Wednesday, April 20, 2011 9:40:23 AM
Well, I am disappointed! A founding member not making the FINAL tour of Judas Priest after being there for everything...last I heard they were working on new material, so there should be some new stuff with KK on it. I hope it isn't a health issue, and if it is, hope he takes care of himself.
As far as the tour goes, I will not miss it.
Gotta feel bad for the new Guitarist though...coming on for 1 tour only...MAYBE they won't stop touring after all??
[METALMANJP] Wednesday, April 20, 2011 8:24:45 AM
No mention of anything on KK's web site.
[Razvan Joseph] Wednesday, April 20, 2011 8:06:48 AM
OHHHHH  NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

C'mon, this can't be real! After the announcement about the last world tour, now this!
I just can't believe it! But why, what for, what happened?
It is really unexpected! Who thought that one who represents the essence of JUDAS PRIEST will do so! JUDAS PRIEST can not exists without Rob, Glenn, K.K. or Ian! It won't be the same magic without anyone of them!
I just wished to see them all togheter one more time, even if it was for the last time! I'm afraid that in the end, there will be no Epitaph tour, after all...
Anyway, it is K.K. decision! We must respect his motives, but it's so painful...
Today is my birthday! What a sad news, indeed........

Well, I guess we have our answer now don't we? I knew the issue wasn't with Rob or Glenn. This new album may be extremely heavy. Of course it won't have the magic that Glenn and KK have together, but it may just blow our minds anyway. I am going to keep an open mind about the new album.
I am so sad to hear KK is retiring. I wish him all the best.
[J.D. DIAMOND] Wednesday, April 20, 2011 7:21:40 AM
Perhaps obviously this isn't good news. But thinking about it now of any time the band's next studio album will probably be heavy as hell, because with a new member in the band and fans already hanging thier heads low as I have been for the last couple hours, this next studio album will not have K.K.'s signature guitar sound on,but Glenn will have his with something new and fresh?

And no the new album will not be better than Sad Wings,British Steel,Screaming For Vengeance,Defenders Of the Faith or Painkiller but perhaps it will still kick balls all the way through....all 10 tracks ...tracks like Freewheel Burning, All Guns Blazing, some melody but still in the vien of Between The Hammer & The Anvil,Hellrider (the song)....maybe the album will be totally kick ass??

It doesn't have to be in thier top 5 albums to still be kick ass. I rate Angel Of Retribution at #6 with Sad Wings,British Steel,Screaming,Defenders and Painkiller all ahead of it but I still love the majority of the album. If they can top Angel Of Retribution (I know Hellrider is saying that won't be hard) than maybe we will get one last album to embrace if the material itself is top notch. If the next LP can rate at #6 knocking Retribution down a notch for me I'll be happy.

If the new album is done right it may work, but just don't expect it to beat classic albums mentioned.

NNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

I suppose this link is pretty relevant now, even if its meant for humor purposes: http://www.nooooooooooooooo.com/

KK was and still is probably my favorite member in the band (of course they're all great, but I like KK even more), so it would be an understatement to say that I'm shocked. I just can't comprehend it all right now, I need some time to accept this as the sad thruth.

Moreover, like others have said, I can't think of any other reason but health issues. I seriously hope that he'll get through whatever it is. Whatever the reason it must've been really sudden, because nothing referring to this could be seen from his site's latest updates a couple of weeks ago.

I'm still going to see the show next June, but I'm not so excited about it anymore. Just like the Ripper Years feel strange to me, I'm feeling even stranger if KK is not around...
