First time I saw Richie perform was in that episode in American Idol, where the band played/sang along with that one contestant (speaking of which, I wonder what happened to that dude). I wasn’t sure what to expect of this “replacement of KK". Watching that performance, I was rather surprised with Richie’s solo in BTL. Pleasantly surprised, I might add. Took a liking to him almost immediately.
At the same time, however, I was hit by sadness as this new, other half of the Twin-Axe Attack wasn’t playing a flying V. This new guy had facial hair and piercings and had sunglasses on. That BTL solo was played in a very different style, and yet he was rocking to and fro with Glenn, where KK would stand. First time it hit me that KK was not gonna perform with Judas Priest that night, maybe never again. Perhaps a similar feeling shared by many fans when Ripper first performed with JP.
Still, I'm glad that Richie was given a chance to show the metal world what he’s made of, and proved that he could fill in the role of a Metal God. Like HRMG, I’m glad that the band is still around and continues to give it all that it has. And for the fans (“true” or not), Richie gives us a peek into the Metal Gods way of life in the form of a very active FB page. And who doesn’t enjoy getting such a peek? Heck, even the official JP Facebook page often shares his pics/updates. I do hope that he stays with the band for a long time. Of course, nothing lasts forever, so we’ll see, I guess.
Damnit, Guido! Now I have to go to Page 2 if I want to follow a really good (JP-related) discussion! (Quoting Message by guidogodoy from Tuesday, June 16, 2015 12:11:02 PM)

Richie definitely changes their sound. I guess I was prepared for that going into the first show, so it didn't surprise me. I didn't expect it to be the same, just as obviously it wasn't the same when Ripper was in the band. I think it was the same for me with Richie as it was with Ripper - I was happy that my favorite band was still together, kicking metal ass even though the band would never be/sound the same. That may be why it bothers me so much that Priest claims to have played a song off of every album on the Epitaph tour yet completely left out Jugulator and Demolition. They OWE Ripper a huge thank you for stepping into Rob's shoes and taking all the shit he got doing it. Ripper kept Priest alive while Rob did what he needed to do. Rob needed that time away from the band to tell the world who he was without hurting and possibly destroying the band that he loved more than anything. I'm overjoyed that Rob, KK, Ian and Glenn were able to patch things up and get back together. But I also think Ripper was a big part of this band and deserved to be recognized for his contributions to Priest during their farewell tour. Hell, even Bruce sings Blaze's songs!! Ripper is a great guy and deserves better. I'm just thankful for everything they have done since the reunion with Rob, for better or worse. I think Richie fits in well and is truly enjoying interacting with the fans.
We stayed in a hotel. The first two years we bought the hotel package. You end up in a nice hotel (Hyatt, etc.) but the amount of time spent there doesn't really justify the cost for me. I just go on Kayak.com every year about a month or so prior to the event and look for something (comfort inn, holiday inn, and check the reviews.) I get a room for about $69.00 a night each year that way. Never more than 10/15 min drive to the stadium. No matter anything that I may have commented during the Epitaph tour I really have enjoyed the two shows since. Agree or not Richie changes their sound and I think the first time out that was a little tough for me. He also puts his own spin on the solo's but that's OK it's his style I just wasn't used to it. I do feel that there best is behind them but that's not ripping them it's just that they're getting older. I feel like you do as far as I'm just glad they're still doing it and doing it pretty well at that. Whether we ever get anything out of them again or not I got my final wish from them and will expect no more. I just wanted them to give us one last quality cd and a good tour to go with it. I feel I got it. Not backing off my production comments but like I copied and pasted here from my first post on it I think it is a very good cd. Hope Mr. Francis cleans up a little in here for you guys. Take care.

It started raining during their set at ROTR too, which probably didn't help. I'm sure people left because of that and the nightmare the parking lot was. Did you camp there or stay at a hotel? We stayed at a hotel but found a close side street to park on. Just a quick walk over the train tracks and we were at our car.
I heard from others that Pittsburgh was an awesome show. Now I'm kicking myself we didn't go to that one too! Getting older is a bitch, I'm just glad my favorite band continued to go on because I think they are still kicking some ass and showing the young ones how metal should be played, even if they aren't bouncing around the stage like they used to. That's OK with me as long as they still sound great, which they do. I wish they would up their stage show though.
I thought Rob sounded good on "Painkiller" and most everything else also. I liked them a little better back in October in Pittsburgh but I think that just had to do with them being inside and better acoustics. I was worried about how they would sound @Rotr but overall I thought the sound was pretty good. Really loud and didn't fade in and out like some bands. I also liked that the crowd for the most part was enjoying them. Some headliners @ROTR get a mass exodus during their sets and It happened to Priest too but a good portion stayed so I was glad for them on that one. As for K.K. and his comments maybe he was referring to the band as a whole. I thought the tempo slowed a bit their last few tours. (That's not ripping them either it's just a fact of life and aging). Maybe he had trouble dealing with that. Personally I thought B.S. was really good but it was Epitaph that disappointed me. Maybe subtle changes were taking place that he was noticing more than the fans were and he figured the best was behind them and maybe they should let it go. I know I felt that way. I think they stepped it up a little on R.O.S. tour and CD but I don't think we're ever going to hear Priest of old again. Maybe that was K.K. was thinking and maybe he felt a better legacy for them would be to end it rather than to go on and tarnish it. Only guesses because I surely don't know.

Indeed. Three years ago, I don't recall having anyone on my ignore list. Now there's seven names on it, and unfortunately it's likely to grow even further. I honestly can't be bothered reading the "contributions" of these people: posting non-functional links to music videos, calling anyone who dares to criticise the band even slightly as "not a true fan", writing filthy love letters to each other out in the wide open and swearing and arguing when someone asks them to tone it down. And yes, all that crap is likely to cause many new members who could actually be good posters to run away from the forum in terror.
Oddly enough, I seem to be ignored by two members despite not recalling ever getting into an argument with anyone. Could just be some of those whose behavior I just criticised...

Yes, it truly IS ridiculous!! By the way, obviously KK felt the Priest machine was not what it once was. I always felt that Priest should have stepped up and played a longer set when Coverdale ended up with a throat infection during the British Steel tour and Whitesmake had to cancel the rest of the shows. I wonder if KK wanted to do that to make it up to the fans but others didn't? During the BS tour, it looked like KK was having a blast, interacting with the fans as he always did. I think eventually the truth will come out. I don't know about you, but I think the back surgery has really helped Rob be able to hit those highs again. I thought Painkiller at ROTR was really the best I've heard him sing it in many years. What did you think?
A whole new level of crazy in here. With me it's more of a "we just don't agree" thing but this is nuts. This site is pretty much dead anyway but this makes it impossible for anyone to actually want to participate here. Doesn't Mr. Francis see this? Surely he could stop it? I can say from my perspective, Rob ALWAYS gives it everything he has. When we saw the British Steel tour, we saw them 3 times. The first night in Cleveland, he was spot on and walking all over the stage. The second night in Detroit, he was clearly in pain and yet he was fighting through it and still giving it everything he had, although he wasn't able to get around the stage as well. The third time we saw them was in Cincinnati and Rob was jumping all over the place, clearly feeling much better and not in pain. Now we know that he has had back problems and had surgery to try to fix it. His voice has suffered a little bit with time, but he still gives it everything he has and pretty much destroys most lead singers half his age!! They all seemed to be enjoying themselves and not "phoning it in" like some bands I have seen. I wonder what/who KK meant?
As for an album in 2016??? NOT GONNA HAPPEN!! That's a bit optimistic, IMO. 2017 maybe.

I agree 1000%!! BEST thing ever is to be able to completely ignore and never see Booger Boy and Trix is for kids!! THANK YOU MURRAY So now that they are being ignored in the other threads, they have decided to come into the thread that we all talk to each other in. Looks like the babies need attention again I see there are 150 new posts and all I see are posts from the people that I want to see
By the way, did you see my post - Freedom Hill now says that Pop Evil is opening for Priest instead of Saxon. Talk about a downgrade!

Sucking you into a back and forth? Well, if that was his gameplan it worked! Just hit an ignore on him if it bothers you so much. I personally laugh at fools like snot and Trix are for kids as I only see half a convo. Best thing Murray ever did for us was to allow us to ingnore and not even see that they posted. You seem to have skipped over the positive comments. I am still looking for that bootleg? Glad you liked the last show?
Hey, how about this extreme idea....Priest?!! Think I'll break out my guitars for another photo op. After all, the white KxK was never included in the pic I took to thank Steve Gett (wrote me recently, btw...VERY nice fellow).

You may think I'm predictable but you're really not as smart as you think you are. I check in from time to time. The last time I checked in I saw that. You always say something about me to get me pissed or into a back and forth that's totally unnecessary. I didn't respond because I didn't feel you were worth the effort. Your feelings got hurt because I disagree with you and now you take every opportunity to start shit or post something stupid about me. All your really doing though is showing your arrogance and how little brain capacity you have to understand everything written to you. When I checked in this time I knew full well to expect stupidity from you so I threw the Saxon and Poor production comments out there just to give you ammo because I knew that shallow little brain of your's wouldn't allow you to just say nothing. I know your going to come back with all your cursing and name calling and you're going to think you're king but really your nothing. Just an old Priest fan stuck in the 80's with a shallow and closed mind who's too arrogant and too dumb to understand how unimportant this really is. I've quit posting stupid shit on here quite a while ago. The last time was July of last year and then now and yet you still persist. Let it go man, life is short.
Ok, to date and as promised. JP guitar family + HAD to throw in the mandolin and my Strat. LOL! Want the other guitars? Lemme know. Read descriptions below.
100 year old perl mandolin (guestimate, I really don't know as it was on my abuela's wall when I was a kid). Above, 1980 Strat HM. Crossing are the 1984 Hamers. PhantomGT (VERY hard to find) is untouched and was originally signed by all on the pickguard. Replaced it, obviously. Bright white? Guess! Newest KxK with scalloped fretboard and made to KK's requirements. KEWL. One button on the front hits the different pickups. Further right are the Gibsons. Only 30 made and I have #6 of each signed on the headstock. Farthest right was to balance with the mandolin! Auntie Bev via Guitardude to me! LOL!! No, didn't thow the whammy bars on the KK's but I have them. That KxK is KEWL!!!

Thanks a lot, you are the only one normal here.... except your kidding, but it was sometimes funny for me.... (not always).
Guido, Diamond and a few others were really unpolite to me...... you withdraw yourself of the few others here.....
I thought this time it will work between us all but I thought wrong... I am trying my best, I wish all the best to ya too....
what I could imagine is to write only you and my lovely Boogie boy....and I ignore the few silly ones, I will see...
to ignore is always better as to insult back, otherwise I would be on the same low level like your friends, this is not what I want to be.. [Show/Hide Quoted Message](Quoting Message by Vaillant 3.0 from Wednesday, May 27, 2015 5:58:59 PM)

I went because of Priest and I'm glad that I did. It really is a very well run festival. The bands were all on time as far as I could tell and there was a large range of metal music. The lines were never very long for the bathroom or food, considering there were what, 100,000 people there? That is amazing. Parking was insane of course, but we found out where to park for free and walk, which took us out of the cluster getting back to the hotel. Watching it on TV really does not do the festival justice. We had a great time! I can see why bands WANT to be at ROTR - talk about exposure! And it's great to be able to listen to bands you have never heard of. Sure, a lot of them are not my style, but you never know what you may find!
GREAT video!! Thank you!! One thing that I wish they would stop doing is using fillers and backing tracks. WHY??!!!
BTW, did you notice that at one point Rob was wearing a Dio t-shirt? Rob kissed his fingers and raised them to the sky as he was walking off stage. He was definitely thinking of Ronnie that night. (Quoting Message by Budred from Saturday, May 23, 2015 4:12:32 PM)

@HRMG, I'm glad you went just to experience it. When you listen to the bands talk during their sets or read anything they say after it's obvious this festival is a major U.S. event each year. Totally understand about maybe not liking a lot of the music but this show is more than just the music. What I do like is the diversity. One it allows people to spread out a little because everyone doesn't like the same thing. They're usually pretty good about mixing up the side stages so that they almost always have two different styles of music so it's easier to find bands to pass on. They have 40 to 50 bands for the weekend and I usually catch around 20 of them.(on average). 23 this year, 22 the year before and some years just under 20. Each year I only have to miss 2 or 3 that I wanted to see. Considering bailing for future shows because it's getting pretty costly but I said that after year 2 and this was year number 6 so we'll see.
