But they did "rehash" old material when they created Angel Of Retribution, they did it with Jugulator,Painkiller,Defenders too. The last 7 studio albums by Saxon are rehashed and are the best of the band's career.
The word rehashed used here is basically the same as staying true to your roots, sticking to your guns at what you do best.Surely they "rehashed" songs for Retribution but the album isn't a clone of any other and also with Jugulator,it doesn't sound like Painkiller,Defenders is rehashed but doesn't sound like Screaming For Vengeance.
Look at AC/DC's Black Ice album,15 songs on the LP and 11 of them are instant classics and they did it by rehashing thier old material and its because the songs themselves are good. Motorhead is the same way, thier last album Motorizer is excellent with every track and they did it by rehashing thier old material and again coming up with "excellent" songs themselves. They didn't need to "progress" to achieve a killer album and neither does Priest, even though Priest have tried to experiment they have always come back to thier roots and thats what we all want.
So yeah,I'd like the band to "rehash" old material to give us something normal, something british styled heavy metal, back to basics again. I wouldn't want the band to progress forwards are you kidding me? Thats what happend with Turbo,Demolition and Nostradamus...the 3 albums by Judas Priest that are under every other album in my opinion. I wouln't say Painkiller or bust,if they put out something like Angel Of Retribution but instead of another Lockness,Angel,Worth Fighting For,Revolution they replace them with tracks like Demonizer,Hellrider,Judas Rising and something like A Touch Of Evil if they can pull it off ect....Angel Of Retribution sounds like the next step that should of been after Defenders Of The Faith, yet its not out of place for 2005 and isn't meant to be as heavy as Painkiller.
I'd be happy if they created an album with the retro sound like Angel Of Retribution,Defenders Of The Faith,Screaming For Vengeance or even British Steel. I think that 95% of fans would be stoked about an album like that if all the songs were instant classics but I for one also would like to see them create something in Painkiller's league just to show that they still can.

You're right about the underrated thing. I still remember when I was a kid reading all the mags,
Cream, Circus, Hit Parader, Rip etc... and all the polls about who's best. Glenn and K.K. were voted
near the top on occasion but never best. If they ever did get such recognition it was rare. But through
it all look who's still here tearing it up as good as anyone. Glenn and K.K. [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by icecreamman from Wednesday, July 21, 2010 7:28:20 PM)

I really have a good feeling that the next album will be a classic British HEAVY METAL album, and possibly their best since Painkiller. Nostradomus did not go down to well with many fans and many have started to doubt Priest. This is were we can look at some history, after 1986's Turbo and 1988's Ram it Down left fans disappointed, JP came roaring back with the mighty Painkiller. Don't loose you're faith, Defend it! I also think Priest are more than capable of creating what could be the most HEAVY and most POWERFUL album of their career. Edited at: Thursday, July 15, 2010 6:06:45 PM |

The also experimented a little with the 1981 "Point Of Entry" album, not so much with musical intruments but with some style of songs like Don't Go,Turning Circles,You Say Yes,All The Way,Troubleshooter and are really not that strong in quality interest although I've always been fond of "Turning Circles",theres something about it thats cool in my book but the other 4 tracks I don't like at all,I don't really like the last track "On The Run" either so theres half the album I don't like, but as the glass is half full I like the other 5 songs. This album was really a failure especially with the previous album "British Steel" being as good as it is.
But they did give us Screaming For Vengeance the next year with Defenders 2 years later. History does show that with each experimental album the next one is traditional british heavy metal.Same with the experimental Demolition album they gave us Angel Of Retribution for the next LP. I sure hope that they can release the new album next year but we just can't count on it.Maybe they can pull it off by September 2011,that would be better than waiting till 2012,we are starved for true metal by these legends!!!

Saxon released thier last studio album "Into The Labyrinth" January 2009 and they are already working on a new one wich should be out next year around January or Feb....so thats right around the 2 year mark.
I'll say we should get a new album from Judas Priest about February 2012...thats about 19 months from now, around a year and a half... ...almost 4 years since Nostradamus...thats about right...4 years...I wish they were as motivated as Saxon with releasing studio albums.

Oh its totally logical alright lol! I'm definately saying January 2012 new studio album from Judas Priest. It will definately take them the majority of 2011 to create this thing and ect.... They will probly do a few shows late 2011 and then by January 2012 we'll get a real heavy metal album again. If they release a studio album anytime in 2011 I will be utterly shocked! You're prediction seems totally logical. There isn't anything going on this year, they've already announced a break.
Rob's tour pretty much guarantees that. It would probably take at least a year from that point so I think (and) hope
that you're dead on. Peace! [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by J.D. DIAMOND from Wednesday, July 14, 2010 1:32:33 AM) | | J.D. I don't think that we will get a new Judas Priest album next year(2011) I think that its not enough time for Judas Priest....maybe 2012? But 2011? NO WAY. This band we all worship is not capable of releasing material that fast.
