Halford 100% Halford is the one, the only original screamer. Owens has a voice ill give him that he can scream, but his scream is just to shrill. Rubs me the wrong way. Rob Halford has always been music to the ears.

Greece's Rockpages.gr recently conducted an interview with TIM RIPPER OWENS
during his stay in Athens, Greece for a concert with HAIL!.

The following is an excerpt:

Q: I know that you are a big Priest fan... if you had the opportunity to change
something in the two records that you did with them, would you do anything?
Maybe, something regarding the compositions?

A: "First of all, I love both records. Looking back now, I see how different
they are, but I still like them. I write in a complete different way... I’d
probably prefer more the classic, old-Priest type of material... like the way I
write in my albums... British Steel kind of stuff... for example 'Scream
Machine' (BEYOND FEAR) was like a Priest song. The title track of Play My Game
was originally written for Judas Priest... also, the song 'Save Me' (Beyond
Fear) was also considered for Judas Priest. But, I totally understand their
decision... Priest has treated me better than any band that I’ve been with."

Q: Did you like Nostradamus?

A: "Ahh... I think it’s a good record. It’s not the kind of record I would
have put out, but it’s a good record... I prefer the songs to be more... not
so laid back. But, Judas Priest always released different records, they changed
with every album."

Ripper was an amazing vocalist and frontman and had a helluvalotta talent, ive seen him once in concert, but Halford simply has more range and more charisma, and JP had way more great songs with Halford than Ripper, altho riper had some great songs....my question is who is better in Iron Maiden....
Paul Di'anno....
Bruce Dickinson...
or Blaze Bayley.

I was looking around a bit on youtube and I found a live concert of Tim and one of Rob , both singing " turbo lover" , Tim started horrible and than he sang the wrong words !!!!  No-one can beat Rob , they can try but will fail !!

Halford.  No question.  Ripper was great with the band, and it was great to see the band keep going without Rob, but Rob is the man for the job.  I'm pretty sure Tim even said that years ago.

I think both of the are amazing singers...but Halford is MUCH better suited to Priest.  Owens' voice is too heavy soudning for Priest...i think he was best with Beyond Fear (amazing band if you haven't heard of them).

I missed the intro and the first 15 minutes of the interview.  Can't believe that Ripper drives a minivan though!

Heard that same interview. Thought it sounded pretty good as well. Also heard the intro Priest song Eddie played before the interview. Reinforced my thought that I STILL feel that it sounded like crap.

I heard a Ripper on Eddie Trunk's show earlier this evening.  He's got a new disc coming out, and it sounds pretty fucking good!
