You have to wait for the picture. I have proof!!
Really tired, actually. It is a 24+ hour commute. Finished in about 2 hours. Had a connection to make in Houston today and just about asked for a wheelchair to get me there. Wouldn't have mattered. Still missed the connection. LOONG flight but home just the same. I know this is a little late, but quite frankly that's assault. A human bite is one of the nastiest things on the planet and quite frankly the chance of infection is high. My son was actually suspended for a day for fighting in the first grade ( 6 yrs old ) It wasn't really a fight, but rules are rules. He got physical and he was suspended. What you are talking about is grounds for a lawsuit. Directed at both the parents and the school. [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by joedraper from Wednesday, June 25, 2008 11:25:06 AM) | | joedraper wrote: | | Hello!!
What a fecking day I had yesterday. First, I totally left it for the last minute so it's my own fault, I need to get a fancy dress outfit for my 2 year old for friday morning. They're having a fancy dress day at school with the theme of people who help other people. So I got my son a fire fighters outfit, no problem there. I thought of sending Zoey as a nurse because she'd look really cute dressed as a nurse. I can't find anything remotely close to fitting her size and I tried to improvise by getting a white dress and just adding pips, lappels and nursy type logo's etc.. So now I have tomorrow to come up with something fantastic.. right
Then, yesterday when I went to pick up my children from playschool, I was met at the gate by the teacher who told me Zoey had been involved in an 'incident'.
So calmly I enquired about what had happened. I was told that a little boy had cornered Zoey and bit her. So I figured, the perp is probably a three year old, how bad can it be? I see my daughter from one side and she's acting normal and doesn't seem at all traumatized. Then she turns around and I see her cheek. Her whole cheek is covered in a fecking nasty bite. HER WHOLE CHEEK! I was in shock so I let it slide. Every time I look at the wound I get more and more angry and I feel I should've acted or been more assertive but I was just so shocked. I got to school this morning and they at least said that the perps mother feels terrible about what happened. Maybe I'm being mellodramatic here but if it was my son who'd bitten another child, I'd have asked for the victims phone number and at least called to apologize or find out if the other kid was ok. The wound is open as well as bruised. I've been disinfecting it so I don't think it'll get infected but I hope that it doesn't leave a scar. Any advice on what I should do? if infact I can do anything about this? |

Glad to hear your child is going to be ok! My co-workers grand-daughter was bitten repeatadley at her daycare-then they FINALLY kicked the biter out. [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by joedraper from Monday, June 30, 2008 3:02:27 PM) | | joedraper wrote: | | Good afternoon everyone!!
I'm finally calming down after Zoey's attack at school. She doesn't seem at all traumatized and the wound is healing so quickly that it looks like she'll be spared a scar. The doctor advised some tissue oil to put on to further prevent scaring and she should be right as rain.
So I guess that means my life is returning to normal although I do wish I'd caused more of a scene about it at the school. I do feel like I didn't stand up for her or protect her enough but that's just something I'll have to deal with in my own time. The important thing is that the kids are now separated at school and more observation is being made. I'm still pretty angry that the other parent has not bothered to contact me to find out if my child is ok but since my children are going to a different school in January I'm not going to kick up a fuss. Heaven help them if she comes home with the slightest sign of a mark on her body ever again though.
Thank you for all the advice and for letting me vent off how I was feeling during a really shite time. Thank you for keeping me sane through this. |

OMG, thank gawd it's Friday!
My local fair opened up last night, and openeing night is "dollar night". Everything from parking to food is a dollar each. Last year it was downright bearable and not really crowded.
Well...not the case this year. There were so many people you could barely move. Seriously. 2 hours there and all I did was play 2 games (won though) and watched pig races (yes pig races) and bought 25 dollars in Candy.
I'm giving Dollar night the middle finger and going again when you have to pay up the whazoo for everything. Then no one will be there. At least I will enjoy myself.
AND to top it off the Freak Show last year toured with this guy who claimed to be a munchkin in the Wizard of Oz (prolly not-who cares) and he would eat fire and nail things into his face and HE DIED!!!!!!!!!! DAMNIT!!! |

Apparently the folks at the school and the parents of the other child are gutless cowards and slimy dipshits. The mother of the other kid should pay for the rabies shot, since the puppy who bit your kid is in daily contact with that bitch. I would really want to know what the people at the playschool are doing that don't keep an eye out for 2 and 3 year old kids. I hope your baby recovers nicely but make sure that medical bills are taken care of by the parents of the kid responsible. My 5 cents.

A most glorious and Happy Thursday to One and All! I trust each of you had a good evening? I must say, I was laughing most of the night, courtesy of Tim, spapad and Soylent! Absolutely hilarious. Thanks to you guys! I really needed it!
I have decided that, for today, the nimrods of the world will not bother me. I am going to have a bit of breakfast and then prepare to watch my beloved Dodgers on the television. Ah, that everyone's day could be so nice! |

Wow, I would be upset as well. K2M is right. A Human bite can be very easily infected. I would take her to the Dr. and they may put her on an antibiotic (just in case) For scaring once it is scabbed Mederma works wonders and also Dr.s can prescibe an even better topical treatment. I would definantly want to know if this child who bit her has a history at the playschoool of acting out.
One good thing is the face is the fastest healing flesh on the body and it usually takes alot to permanently scar it.
Hope things go better for you and your child. [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by joedraper from Wednesday, June 25, 2008 11:25:06 AM)

I would try everything possible to keep the cheek from scaring. I would establishe contact with the Perps Folks. Phone number, address. I would take my baby to the doctor and have the perps parents pay for any extra care involved. Bacteria is a major concern now. Seek doctor soon. Scars are forever. Try and stay calm and organize your plan of action. At some point let it out. I would be fucking Pissed. So let it out some where. What about the school. Just take care that you baby gets the immediate care to over come the initial injuries. Lisa (my wife) is weening her from the breast, and looking for a job, and I myself am busy running our online store, selling stuff on Ebay, and about to get a job as well.
That's about all I'll share out here. Busy with other stuff, and it's almost too much to handle. There's just not enough time in a day, and I can't go 24/7 like when I was younger.

I got my first full exposure to George Carlin's comedy during my very, very brief stint in college, 1986. My roommate had "Class Clown" and on the first listen I was on the floor laughing so hard I had tears in my eyes. Who can forget the "7 words" not to mention the agonies of growing up in Catholic school (not being Catholic, I have renewed sympathy)......getting the kid to laugh so hard he passed an entire cheese sandwich out his nose and thereafter it being considered a miracle and having to go through a debriefing by a Priest. Carlin was fantastic and funny and will be sadly missed. |

I guess that, you being an "East-Coaster", you may feel an even greater loss. You are SO right about his "attainability", if you will. He had a way of transcending cultures and generations and seeing things in a way that so many people could easily understand. Observational Humor, I believe.
I liken my grief to that which I shall surely feel on the day that Vin Scully passes. I know that day is closer than I would ever want it to be and I feel a tremendous forboding. Not that Vin is sick, but more because he is older and, much like Chick Hearn, he means so much to me and cannot last forever! Growing up with a personality of that nature in your life makes for an almost "family" feeling about them. You know?
Carlin will always be an inspiration to me. His thoughts and observations will serve as guidance for me and my life. Not that I rely solely on his memory or opinions, but more that I remember and I feel what it is that he wanted to tell us.
Rest in Peace, George. You now know the "truth". [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by Justin Kenny from Monday, June 23, 2008 12:52:21 PM) | | Justin Kenny wrote: | | Duly noted DF...Carlin was a massive influence on me as well. Anyone that actually reads any of my prose will clearly see the tremendous influence Carlin has had on me and my life. His inspiration has helped mold much of how I see this world. I cannot begin to tell you what a profound effect his death will have on my life.
Carlin saw things in a very special and unique way. For example; his thoughts on religion, while certainly much darker than mine, are a measure for me and my opinion on a "god" or deity. I have used his words, or at least his thought-pattern in this area many, many times.
I feel a great, personal loss. Carlin was a master of words and a genius not only in comedy but in grammar and proper English. One need only spend some time reading any one of his many books (of which I own all!) to see that this man knew the English language better than most. Certainly far better than me!
I realize this is a Priest site and I do hope that each of you will bear with me as this man meant so much to me, I feel as though I have lost someone very dear even though we never met.
We all grieve in our own way. I have shared much of myself with you and , at this most sad and difficult time, I come to you for the comfort I have found in the past. If you were not a fan of George Carlin, I can accept that....but I do not understand it. He was larger than life. He was a master. He was incredible. I will miss him more than words can say. |

Hi ya Valiant!! And to the entirety of our hallowed, inner sanctum better known as the Judas Priest Noticeboard, I bid you all a fond greeting to this particular Monday afternoon....hope today has gone better for you all than it has for me thus far... ....detours suck monkey-nuts...and it makes travel 'round here utter HELL...
....'tis why I tell people that 'Ithaca' really means 'detour.' It doesn't really...it's Indian for something far more earthly and innocent than that....but...it may as WELL mean 'detour...' 'cuz every summer, that's what happens. The city and county decide to band together and tear the bejeezuz outta every street, bridge, and thoroughfare that we transit drivers rely on heavily to get our ridership to and from places...LOL!!
I dunno...I guess SOMETHING has to come about to make up for the lack of ridership...what with 90% of the student body enjoying their summer breaks from either of the two campuses here. |

Wow! that is increadible! I find volcanoes really interesting too. I watch as many documentaries on them as I can, considering the closest volcano I could get to is in Namibia so national geographic will have to do for me. I think to have witnessed Mount St Helens go up... speechless. An experience that will stay with you forever I'll bet.

Yeah, if I had to claim two religions one would be Judas Priest heavy metal and the other would be climbing volcanoes. The Cascades have about a dozen smoking guns that run in a north-south line from the Canadian border down through Washington State and Oregon and into Northern California. I have climbed about half of them. Mount Saint Helens is the most famous of these, erupted in 1980. I got to watch it go off which was one of the most incredible things I have ever seen.
My favorite peak to climb is South Sister (of a closely-knit group called the Three Sisters) which I climb at least once every summer. Even wrote a short, handwritten book about it which got some local interest.

Ooops, forgot. I am from a bodaciously small town called Bluefield, VA. There is also a Bluefield, WV which is now almost empty since "King Coal" does not work out so well for the area anymore. The business is still booming but with automated systems being in place there are less jobs. The railroad is a good job if you can stomach being called out at anytime of day or night. I used to date an engineer for years and he seemed like the crabbiest person in the world sometimes. We do indeed have Lesotho surrounded! lol another very beautiful place should you ever get to see it.
However, sound like you live in paradise! I hear what you're saying about the wrong kinds of people moving into the area, that can really put a bummer on things. Don't give up on owning your own house there one day, I believe everything is possible eventually. We've also got horrific housing prices too at the moment but our housing market is about to collapse and housing will become cheaper pretty soon from now. \
Are you really a mountain climber? That is so cool!! I'm more into hiking, we never had anything major to climb nearby but we've got some killer hiking trails around. Big mecca for skiers, mountain bikers, hikers and mountain climbers (I'm in that last category). Unfortunately all this natural beauty has its downside......it's currently America's most over-priced housing market (which is why I will probably never be able to afford my own home here) and all the wrong kinds of people are moving here (and they keep on coming). But I consider it home, have moved away twice and regretted the move both times, so here I stay. |

I live in a place I feel clueless when a new person moves here. Why would they do it? I'm lucky to have a job in this area and I cant understand anyone moving here. I must admit though I have move away a few times and miss it when I'm not here, but wow it takes some getting used to once you get into the faster paced lifestlye of other places. It is a good place to let my daughter grow up. Around here you can still leave your door unlocked and the chances of something happening are as great as being struck by lightining.
