I was quite happy earlier today when a thunderstorm rolled in from the Pacific Ocean right over this little city. I was in my apartment when I heard thunder for the first time in quite a while. I decided to go outside and watch the lighting dance across the clouds for a bit. Reminded me of 'Judas Rising'.

White bolts of lightning...came out of nowhere...

Sorry to have sent you that high wind, Spa. You saw it, we got nailed too. Had the bathtub filled this time around (dumbass I was not to have done so during the recent ice storm...flush the toilets!!)  and I lost power for most of the day. Back on by early evening, though so I am right with you. Happy as a warm clam on a cold, still windy night.

Didn't know wether to put this in the pissed off page for the Super Happy page! My whole area had a high wind advisory and for some reason I knew I was going to loose power. I came straight home from work and cooked dinner straight away because I just felt we would have no power later. We were in the middle of dinner when the lights flashed and then about seconds later in the dark. Thank God I was worried enough to have already located the flashlight and kept it nearby. I broke out my supply of pot candles, (they don't burn as bright as tapers but they are safer) I had 12 of them burning in the living room and they actually managed to keep the house semi warm. I was just getting cold and misserable, and thinking I would have to stay up all night to tend the candles when around midnight I heard the Microwave beep and seconds later the heat pump fire up!

I am so very happy and grateful to have the basic things you need to  be comfortable. 7,000 people lost their power in the area and the expected reconnect time for eveyone involved was Thursday at midnight! I am SO SUPPER HAPPY RIGHT NOW, IT IS NOT FUNNY!!!! LMAO,.........Im warm!

Got to love when you get your prayers answered, even when your an agnostic.

Really??? Wow. Well then, I stand corrected, my dear. When my daughter had them (some 20-odd years ago) the guy at the pet store showed me what he said was a pic of the female Beta and she was nothing remarkable at all. I was told (at least I think I was told) that only the male has such color and shape.  It was very long ago and it was at a time when my mind was rather clouded, if you will.

Anyway, if you say this is true, I must accept it as such and declare that I was wrong. Hmmm... I really could have sworn I had this one correct. Oh well, not the first time I have needed to be "shown the light".....HA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you, my dear.

Hmmm...maybe it's the zoom and flash of the camera that may be confusing you, my friend.  I kept male betta fish before as pets, so I know how they look like. My Sweet Leaf is a female. I have tried the mirror trick before, and try as she might, she can't flare her gills as much as a male betta normally can...but she is aggressive. Besides, she was tiny when I first got her. I just raised her right. HA!!! Here's another pic of Sweet Leaf that I posted earlier this year (without zoom nor flash). Perhaps it will convince you just a bit.:

My dear, I assure you I am not "daft". The pic you posted there is a male Beta when he is angry. They flare their gills and fins to appear larger before they fight.  They are also known as Chinese Fighting fish, as they will immediately attack each other (males) and fight. They are bred for this and do it naturally. Val's dear pet is a male. She can prove this with a very simple experiment...place a small mirror in front of "her" so "she" can see "herself". He will flare up exactly in the manner your pic there demonstrates. Don't take my word for it, try it! I used to have Betas, I know this.

Yes, however, you DO know that Sweet Leaf is a MALE, right Val? The female Beta is a rather unremarkable, smaller fish that looks somewhat like a large guppy.....HA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm quite happy and proud to say that it's been a year since I bought Sweet Leaf, and she's still going strong.

Rocking out to the Boneyard on Sirius 19 right now.  The other thing making me happy is seeing my baseball team (Philadelphia Phillies) re-sign super slugger Ryan Howard for 3 years and $54 million!!!

Congrats on the milestone.
