Whoops.....to be accurate, I should have said DRM = Digital Rights Management. Stupid error on my part as I deal with ripping it off most every day! HAAAAAA!! [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by guidogodoy from Friday, May 14, 2010 8:56:26 AM) | | guidogodoy wrote: | | Well, complicated answer. Ion, I don't beileve, is necessarily "junk" but it is low-end, to be sure. Headbanger was hitting close when he said that iTunes was "propriatary" and transforming everything to .m4a. Yes and no. Itunes gave up DMR (propriatary) as did most majors a few years back. Yes, still .m4a but not propriatary anymore. DMR is Digital Media Rights, btw. Likewise, Windows and THEIR format, .wma, had to follow suit or be snowed under by iTunes in selling music. No one uses DMR anymore is what I am trying to say. You can easily copy iTunes to WMA (Windows) in a few clicks.
Now then, the main point is more the comment I think (scratching my head) I made with regard to ripping to either format. Some are known as "lossy." They lose audio by compression. It cuts the highs and the lows (and some midrange). Thus, the "loss." They are trying to keep the bitrate low to keep the filesize small. However, it loses fidelity. No question. Look at the bitrates in which an MP3 is often released. 128? 256? Higher number the better but also the bigger file-size. Still, lower than the original.
I believe I mentioned it before but NO real trading sites accepts such "lossy" formats. There are strict rules against it and anything you upload will be banned if you choose to do so in "lossy" format. Again, look at Halford's site. He released his free music in various formats. MP3, AAC, and a few LOSSLESS formats (WMA now has one).
Hear no difference, good. What is your sound equipment, though? Play it on headphones or a two speaker / low-end system. Fine. Play it on a 6.1 (six speaker + 1 subwoofer) and I guarantee you'll hear a difference.
Not a rant against any lossy format and I hope it is not taken as such. If you are happy, you are happy. All that matters. You are NOT getting true fidelity if you can make sense of any of the above, though. Itunes does not save in MP3, it uses a proprietory format, M4A I think. that format contains code to eliminate sharing. as to the quality, not sure. [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by Budred from Friday, May 14, 2010 4:56:35 AM) | | Budred wrote: | | Question/comment for Guido:

When I set the disc up I click onto audio cd. The recording converts from analog to digital.
(I'm assuming). After I record the album and insert the track titles it converts to ITunes.
This is why I said I'm recording to MP3. Does converting to ITunes make it MP3 format or
am I getting a digital copy? I've been trying to listen for flaws in the music but they sound really good.
I'm not so sure I'm making MP3 copies. Also you mentioned Ion is junk. (no problem with that).
Would that be because of the errors during recording (tracks recording twice etc...) or is it just the
quality of the recordings? It takes a long time to get through the process and I do have track errors
but the overall quality of the finished disc seems to be pretty good.

In honor of Willie Nelson on his 77th.
I hate country music but I love Willie Nelson. He seems to be so genuine.
I love how he speaks up for the herb (which I no longer partake in). I love
what he does for farmers (I'm from the midwest). He seems so down to earth.
I went to see him live in the hopes of meeting him afterwards. We were out by the buses with a group
of his fans. Security came out and told us unless we had a pass to be there we had to leave. About the
same time Willie came out. He told security no one had to leave. He hung out with everyone taking pictures
and signing autograpghs until he got to everyone. This from a man in his late 60's at the time.
My respect for him raised tenfold after that.

Regardless of the fact that you don't like religion, you can not walk in to a "really nice church" with the statues and stained glass and all, and heaven forbid you step foot into the Cistine Chapel! You would be blown away and aweshocked. A really ornate church or ancient church for some reason just offers you peace when you gaze at the walls. I'm not talking about being there during service, just going in there when it is just you and this big empty place of beauty and grace.
To sit alone in a grand or ancient church just puts you at ease. I've seen long abandoned Churches and have walked the building, (and gone places a lady should not be allowed) its facinating. To be told by someone your not allowed in the area you are standing is even funnier.
There is an island off the coast of Greece that Only men are allowed to go. It is said that Mary, Jesus's mother, was given Domain over this island because it was so beautiful. Only men can tour it (they even have passports issued for the island), there is still a monistery there, but only one woman stepped foot on it, and she was ordered back off by a vision of Mary. Believe it or not !

Salvador (Saviour), Brazil comes easily to mind. Said statues SCARE more than inspire.
I have some great shots of the sand dunes that are to the north of that church. Ever been? I went with my little bro and mother. You would laugh. I pulled my shirt over my head and started head-over-heels down a steep dune. Man, did I pick up speed! HAAAAA!!! Ate quite a bit of sand when I tried to stop the roll, if I remember. | | Budred wrote: | | 12, 14, I told you I'm not religious. Also because of my younger days I have
that short term memory loss thing going.(LOL) Thanks for the info though. One thing
I'm not understanding is, are you criticizing the artist or no? I thought he did
an outstanding job.

I visited a church in Colorado that impressed me like that. It was on top of a hill. You climbed a path to get to it.
On the path were bronze statues at different points called the twelve stations of the cross. One of the more moving
things I've seen in my life. Surely not like what you described but moving none the less. This from a person who
hates religion. I'll look for pictures I have and post them. Take care.

I live across the street from a church,(fancy that). As much as I hate religion there's
just something cool about those bells going off everyday. Their ringing right now. Here's
the part I don't get. They are a bit of a depressing sound but I'm moved by them.
Any shrinks in the house have an opinion on this. |
