Then again, with Kingson at the back door.. we may have a chance against Forlan! Lets pray!
[joedraper] Friday, July 02, 2010 1:37:08 PM
I don't think I have the strenght for a penalty shootout.. way too nerve wracking!

Oh, yeah, I remember that. One more reason to root against Uruguay.

Anyway, we are going to see extra time... I hope it doesnt go into penalties.

He has behaved in this game but Suarez should get an oscar for faking the best injuries in a game. He got our goalie sent off by being a prick. I would like to see the smug look wiped off his and Forlan's faces.

Idiot Suarez! First handplay in Ghanas penalty area, THEN kicks goalies fingers when hes trying to get the ball... Too bad it was to crowded for the ref too see it.

Well, they are great players, and very good in 1 on 1 challenges... But, IDK, they look a bit undisciplined. A lot of missed passes and misunderstanings among players, I think.

Still, Im rooting for them, and I hope they go on. Uruguay doesnt deserve to play in an amateur league with this kind of playing.

PMSL!
Craig just asked me why the Uraguay goalie is dressed like a tele tubbie
[joedraper] Friday, July 02, 2010 12:58:51 PM
This ref is being a prick but Ghana has the ability and the will to win this. Kingson is an amazing goalie don't know what went wrong but ah feck.. just missed a free kick.

Congrats to the Dutch, but I hope that Uruguay cant repeat their achievement. On the other hand, if Ghana wins tonight, they play the Dutch next, and I will be a bit confused... Tho I will probably pick the Black Stars.

I think that Ghana was just cheated out of a penalty, but the replay wasnt clear enough. I sure hope it was all ok.

Hup Holland Hup! OMG I am so happy they won...
My elation at Ghana scoring has been dampened by Uraguay scoring.. dunno what it is about Diego Forlan that just gives me the creeps!

Robinho almost got his pretty face smashed... That would have been such a shame.

Yeah, me too. Tho honestly, both Japan and Paraguay didnt show much, and I think that it was one of the most boring matches on this cup. Still, it would be nice if Asia would have their representatives in the quarter finals. Well, at least Africa still does, and even tho Ghana probably has the least chances of winning the cup, Im rooting for them. If not them, then I guess the Dutch or the Germans will be my favourites.

That is not Ayoba! Bitterly dissapointed I was so hoping Japan was gonna come out of this alive.

Holland and Brazil dominant last night. I don't think Holland can win it but you never know, it only takes one goal. Sounds like a dumb thing to say when they've got guys like Kuyt, Robben, Sneider and Van Persie out there but I think in the past they've had better sides than they do now and not been able to crack it and it'll be the same this time. I only saw the first half of Brazil/Chile but from what I saw Brazil handled Chiles good start well and then capitalised clinically when their chances came. Definately a final contender ( as always ).

Looking forward to tonights Spain/Portugal match. Hopefully Torres can get out of this slump he's in and get a few goals.

[Becks] Monday, June 28, 2010 12:33:27 AM
Yeah it was a brilliant game between the Germans and England, we will definitely be getting up to watch the quarter final between the Argies and Germany. Germnay is my favourite, and like you said, if both teams play to their full potential, it'll be a fantastic game.
Yeah Ronaldo is a bit of a dick, I'm not too fussed on who wins that game, but Spain would be my pick right now.

Awesome display from the Krauts, absolutely carved up England. Thought the game could have been a little different if the ref had of allowed Englands second goal. It took Germany a while to settle after Englands first strike and an equaliser could have really rattled them. However, didn't happen and the Bosch finished strongly. Argentina all over Mexico. I only saw the first half but they looked to be the better team by far, I guess the final result showed they were. The Bosch/Argies clash in the quarters will be a cracker if both sides play like they did today. Shame they can't meet in a semi or final. Whoever wins that game would probably be favoured to win the tournament. Spain/Portugal should be a cracker too. I'm picking the Spanish and would love for them to win it because I can't stand Christiano Ronaldo.
[Becks] Sunday, June 27, 2010 3:00:29 PM
I enjoy watching Ozil play, like you said, it's great to see a player who doesn't hog the ball! And yeah I know, Klose is an old fart by football standards LOL!!!

Oh, well, some younger than others. The Polish... Erm... "Beauty" Klose is an old fart by football standards.

Personaly, I have high hopes for Mesut Özil. That run and assistance for the fourth goal were legendary. Pretty much made the whole goal himself, but still had the brains to pass the ball to someone who was in a better position to score. Which happened. Great to see a player who isnt entirely selfsih.

Oh yes Slovakia vs Netherlands should be a good game, I hope Slovakia win too!
Yeah the way Germany are going (when they play well) I think most teams will struggle to come close to them. They counter attack so quickly and have a whole bunch of really talented young players.

Yup. And judging by how they play, we might just have this years champions.

Tho, my number one team at the moment remains Slovakia. Theyre playing the Dutch tomorrow, and I hope they can send home another football superpower.

Yeah, and after they actualy stoped the game to debate the matter. I guess its really time to get replays for the referees. Yeah, sure, it wont solve all bad calls, but this one would have been.

Of course, that wasnt the end of it. I think that the referee pissed his pants later, and compensated Mexico by allowing them rough play - that faul at the end of the first half was a red card if ever I saw one - but by then the game was already ruined. Mexico was a better opponent at the start, and who knows how it would have gone if the ref simply made the right calls.

Still, glad ARG won. They played the better game.

Yes! Shwartz und weiss! I thought that they were in a better form, but whod have known that they would beat England so much?

Im rooting for Mexico tonight.
[spapad] Sunday, June 27, 2010 9:08:50 AM
I like to root for the underdog, but apart from a few minutes, England could have phoned this one in. Shame. If it's any consolation, US blew it too. Oh, well better luck next time. There's aways another World Cup! We got so time to rework things to compete better.

[Becks] Sunday, June 27, 2010 8:29:09 AM
Not anti-american sentiment at all Bud, the team just weren't good enough to beat Ghana. Give it a few more years and the US team will be better I reckon.
I'm up to watch the last 20 minutes of Germany vs England - Germany picking England apart. I'm half English so waaaah, but the German team, when they play well like they are now, are brilliant to watch.
[Budred] Sunday, June 27, 2010 7:56:43 AM
We'll, I chimed in with a little Patriotic fervor when they won so I'll extend congrats in loss.
Best of luck to Ghana!
I'm sensing a little anti-American sentiment here. Are we that bad?
[spapad] Sunday, June 27, 2010 7:44:02 AM
Just after the half. England down by one. GO England! I love a good Cinderella story!
[Becks] Saturday, June 26, 2010 8:32:58 PM
Yeah Ghanas extra time goal was great. The US guy getting knocked over in the penalty area was a silly thing, but there was no need for the mini tantrum he then had, beating the ground with his fists, LOL! The games tomorrow should be very good!

Good wins to Uruguay and Ghana, some great goals from both of those teams. Seemed to be a bit more intensity now that it's do or die. I thought that when it went to extra time the US had the game for the taking, Ghana looked out on their feet. Wasn't to be though. One of the goals of the tournament for Ghana in extra time.

Tonights games I'm picking the Hun and Argentina, pissed off I have to go to work at half time in the Argie game.
[Vaillant 3.0] Saturday, June 26, 2010 2:36:29 PM
Yup. See ya, USA. You did your best. Don't worry, there's always 2014!

Now...let's see what tomorrow has in store for us:

England vs. Germany (Go Germany!) and Mexico vs. Argentina (Go Mexico!).

Awwwwww.....too bad. Fair outcome, IMO. USA was pretty darn sloppy. Losing that (typical) first goal.

Adiós EE.UU. Congrats to Ghana.

Especially those sports which are actually non-contact.
I'm cheering for Ghana too, being the only African side in the final 16 I hope they advance.

OMG! The last 10 minutes between Chile and Spain were painful! I wanted to chew through my main arteries just to curb the  boredom!

I have to root for Ghana today (being the only African team to get past opening round.)
[spapad] Friday, June 25, 2010 11:12:01 PM
I doubt they got that lesson. Semper PHI! lol . Just think of American sports teams as Jarheads. They are out to win, but the possiblity of them winning is small. Don't stop them.  They have done well considering two goals have been disallowed and I'm sure there is more of the same in their future. I have no stake in this, I'm just facinated. lol

Lol... Sorry, no. I used to like your team, but that time when they played against us, they showed themselves as total assholes. Injured one of our players, nearly injured two more, played the game like it was a war, didnt get punished for it from the ref... Yet still bitched and whined when the ref turned against them and overruled a goal. Frankly, I hope that Ghana eats them alive, and no matter that Ghana won against Serbia, which was my second favourite team.

Hopefully this time around, South Koreans wont need the referee to get them into the semi-finals.

Serves them right. If youre going to play at this level, you should be more professional than that. And if you dont want to shake hands with someone who was better than you in a game, than Id say they should forget about the plane, and take a bus home.
