I've heard it and already love it! Can't wait for the release!
History, though, has taught me to wait and not pre-buy anything as it typically goes cheaper once released in the US.

Agreed, J.D.! As I said before, seeing Priest at the Fox in Detroit ranks amongst my favorite concerts! There in a beautiful venue with friends and relatives, caught a GREAT show (EVERYONE was fucking awesome!), caught a pick and had all but Rob come out to meet and greet after the show. As you said, nothing short of pro equipment can fully record the power of high screams and low bass, my bro's i6 did a damn good job on the couple of songs he recorded (mic is MUCH better than the i5 that couldn't handle the range especially so close). Simply outstanding.
Well, I'll take this time to wish all you Pilgrims a happy Turkey day and, hey, the Lions are actually WINNING!!!

Richie Faulkner is so awsome and is such a fit for this band its not even funny...none of us saw this coming 4 years ago.
And the Redeemer album seems to get better attention each month that passes......best album since Screaming For Vengeance in my honest opinion. That makes me pretty freakin lucky ! Hell yeah!

People who are wanting vocals clear as the 70's are the same people who consistantly complain at resturants, neighbor's trees hanging over thier fence and a long list of other nit picky demands.
Richie Faulkner was so inspirational as we have seen...pounding his chest, head banging with the front row and his signature solos were a highlight of the night...Glenn was so "cool" as he always is.....his solos were bad fuckin ass,Ian and Scott as well were having a blast.
Richie is the heart of the band now showing now like before that he is a TRUE member if Judas Priest...his solos are so different from K.K.'s as should be but its just such a natural fit...it seems like he has been in the band since the 80's and is the driving force behind Judas Priest now.
Just an amazing display of classic heavy metal from living legends. The band accrding to an article on blabbermouth, will be going into the studio (2016) to record another album and another tour!

@Headbanger,north american fans et al , i am hoping that the boys will take a short rest after the Tacoma show and then announce more Canadian dates , the have almost 3 months between the Tacoma date and the sound festivals down under and before they head to Europe, one would hope that the tour planner would finish north america before going all the way across the globe ,then back to Europe , then back to north america !! But.................

Steel Panther came up first, of course. That was a riot. I almost busted my gut laughing at the antics of the band members. Lyrics, especially. There was one fan that was dressed as the guitarist. Another fan next to me drew portraits of the band members, and is also a fan of JP. It would be his first time seeing the latter. Glad I found him, too, ‘cause it got crazy in my part of the pit during JP’s set. Drunk bastards were leaning all over us trying to get to the front. BUT! We didn't let 'em. Heh.
ANYWAY!
Judas Priest. Judas fuckin’ Priest. What can I say. They brought the house down. ROB brought the house down. When other fans say that his voice is better now than before, that he’s reaching new heights with his voice, you better believe it….’cause holy cow, the way he sang Devil’s Child was KILLER!!! The whole set was freakin’ great. I was in awe the whole time. I was practically in the second row, right in front of Glenn. Even in all the screaming, you could hear him say, "Show your teeth."

Here I had a good bunch of kids show up in the early evening. Then it started to sprinkle for a few minutes. After that it was dead silent. But yeah, weather is definitely a big factor as far as turnout goes...also depending on what day Halloween falls. You'll most likely get little to no trick-or-treaters if it falls on a Tuesday, for example, with school being in session here and all.
Small turnout overall, so there's enough candy left in the bowl to satisfy my sweet tooth for the rest of the year. Heh.

@Head Banger.... no, I have to be "wrong". There is NO WAY that the new album could of possibly sold nearly 7 million copies....I must of mis read what I was reading....I had to of...
...however it is the highest chart position ever at #6 in the U.S. and also the highest ever at #5 in Canada. THAT I know I didnt misread.
But yes,we are all different and some like Screaming for vengeance and dont like Defenders of the faith.....hellrider 90210 didnt like the Vengeance album but loved the Defenders album.
I love the Retribution album, some do not....actually some were saying THAT album sounded a little Halford soloish too...but I disagree with that too....we just "hear" things differently sometimes...unless your budred lol j/k

7 million is a lot more than I though. Chart position is one thing, but thats more gross sales than I thought it would see.
this far in how many would screaming have had?

I can see a little Halford sound in this album. which is what brings the album down for me. AOR still tops this one. In terms of sales, you mean in chart position right? surely not gross sales. |

Oh, and HA...I don't read anyone complaining that the Redeemer Of Souls track sounds even remotely close to "Halfords Made Of Metal" solo material like you were all-so-raving about.....
Also the new album is the most sucessful selling JP album since 1982's Screaming For Vengeance
I find it sad and puzzling that you couldnt get enough of it,then now cant even put it on?

As Russ was standing in front of me, I kept thinking, PLEASE play "For All Eternity" or "Into the Pit" or "War of Words" or "Life in Black" or "Nailed To the Gun" or "Immortal Sin"....... you get where I'm going with this Instead we get Glory Hole... not even close to being on the same level.

Home safe and sound! WHAT A NIGHT INDEED!! Absolutely AWESOME show. I'm still shocked at how low the stage was and the fact that I could have hopped right up there if I were so inclined. Rob's head of security was behind the curtain on our side watching the entire night. I'm sure they expected SOMEONE to do it, but we were quite the respectful crowd in DETROIT!! At least I got a first bump from Rob even if he didn't come out to sign. It was very very cool of everyone else to come out and sign for us!! REAL fans brave the cold for 2 hours waiting by the buses. While Richie was signing my ROS bandana, he asked me to "Stretch it tight." I replied, "Oooooohhhh, IIIIII'llll stretch it tight!" He looked up at me with a PRICELESS expression on his face and I just busted out laughing. Richie is funny as hell and he really does fit in perfectly with Priest. Everyone was spot on, having a great time and giving it everything they had. Absolutely worth every single penny we paid through StubHub for those front row tickets!!
As always, it was an absolute pleasure to hang out with you and your bro and to see your mom again!!

We stalked the busses, met a lot of interesting people and ..... drumroll please.... got four of five to sign!! Rob never appeared but, hell, he was the only one we GOT last time in the motor city. Caught a Ritchie pick and everything. Damn. 1:30am here and I'll be going through pix for hours.

FANATASTIC VIDEO!! I cannot understand that some fb fans have something against the new album too....every album is a Masterwork in another way!!
Now it is different, the fans on here like the new album and some of the fb fans don´t like it...strange, but I think most of all fans like the new album very much, everyone has a another taste
anyway...the Priest has never disappointed us....keep the faith anyway if you like some albums more or less,
but the fb fans accept the different opinions, we are united in the name of Priest nothing and no one will ever change this! |

Tried one last time to post pics so no one would have to sit through the slide show. Still can't figure it out. I was wanting some of you to see them.
Some of them are some of my best concert shots.
Alright, I'm really out this time. I wish I would have just chilled when I first started but I was too new to the internet and posted so many things I wouldn't post now. Unfortunately some of it was embarrassing and some of it was regretful and I never let myself live it down. I'm also sure I overdid it with an abundance of posts trying for interaction. Stuff more suited for facebook and such. I spent too much time explaining and apologizing so I'm sure that was a turnoff also. Anyway I'm kind of tired of all that and I caught myself trying to purposely annoy some members here because I'm annoyed by them and that's not cool either so that pretty much sums up my exit. My name is David Johnson and I live in Brilliant,Ohio if anyone wants to hook up on facebook. I keep my friends there to a minimum but I'll accept requests from people here. I feel like facebook is more of the real me. I know too many people on there to post some of what I have here. I wish I would have treated this like that but I think I tried to embellish myself a little here and that was probably annoying also. Too many missteps to reverse course.
Take care all!

OK I give up. I forget how to do this. The first few pics on that slide show my wife took. The rest are mine. It takes awhile to watch but some of the pics are pretty awesome. Well, unless I see Priest again this should be it. Take care! Edited at: Monday, October 20, 2014 7:23:50 AM |

I've spent too much time here not to do this. I'll still stay away after these posts. From what I've read it was probably a good thing to bail on LTL. I went to the Pittsburgh show Saturday night and I will say that I was pleasantly surprised. No matter what anyone says about the Epitaph tour in my mind this show blew that away. I think Richie fit in great this time around and his guitar style didn't bother me at all. I think they were very tight with few mistakes and Rob sounded just fine. He's not the Rob of old but no one should expect him to be at this point. I loved the light show and monitors but I wish the images would have been a little clearer on the monitors. Not sure what attendance is like at the other shows but Pittsburgh was well attended. A fairly big venue and it was more than half to almost 3/4 full. I only took one video. All night I was making eye contact with event staff and didn't want to get caught like last time. @HRMG and anyone else that attended LTL that may be considering ROTR. Do it! I know how awesome ROTR is and I belong to a LTL and a ROTR group on facebook and I guarantee from everything I've read that ROTR is so much better. Anyway if I can do this right I'll post a video of Living After Midnight/Defenders Of The Faith and I have some great pictures that I'll post that I'm positive some of you will enjoy. |

FUCKING AWESOME!!!! GREAT VENUE, OUTSTANDING SHOW!! Yeah, Steel Panther was a bit goofy but in a funny / mock-80s style but PRIEST KICKED ASS!!! SPOT ON! Nothing like Louisville "VIP" IOW. HRMG, Hubby and my bro were all in the pit but there were seats in a beautiful old fixture of Detroit. VERY well-organized (as opposed to Lousiville). After? We stalked the busses, met a lot of interesting people and ..... drumroll please.... got four of five to sign!! Rob never appeared but, hell, he was the only one we GOT last time in the motor city. Caught a Ritchie pick and everything. Damn. 1:30am here and I'll be going through pix for hours.
Hope my friends had a safe drive home. Always a pleasure.

He will always do what he wants and he gives a crap of other critics!!
Bruce jumps around like a monkey on stage haaaaa!!!
Rob apears like a majesty!!!
Bruce has no voice, Rob´s voice is perfect like himself!!
He will never reach his level!!
There will be never someone like Rob!
He knows he is the BEST an he will always be!! |

I went twice to the portapotty and stopped drinking altogether!! No chance I was going to miss being up front for Priest because I had to wait in a ridiculous line to pee!! Well, I wouldn't have. I would have done like the one girl and dropped drawers in the corner with the guys! Now THAT was a sight!! Actually, I would have gone BEHIND the portapotty so my ass was only visible IF someone drove by behind them It was quite hilarious to see the guys peeing in the corner while Steel Panther was being interviewed on the other side of the curtained fence!! Perhaps they were giving their review of their set!

Back in the day they would have given 1/2 hour for those lesser bands. KORN WOULD NOT STOP!!!! I remember Pine Knob when they had Metal Church on the main stage. Only a few of us there but, hell, I moved from the hill into the front seats with the 50 others who really liked them. What about the good ol' days?!?

Stone Temple Pilots was GREAT and the only band that I truly enjoyed seeing other than Priest. Korn kept playing and playing and I thought, If you go over and Priest has to play an even shorter set, I will HUNT YOU DOWN!!! It was really great to see so many people there to see PRIEST!! A lot of people in their 20's. I really think ROS has brought in a younger crowd which is awesome to see. The people around me knew ALL the songs too, not just the radio songs.
Yes, we definitely needed MORE PORTAPOTTYS!!! But with VIP, the food lines weren't as bad as the regular crowd had to endure and our line for the bar was almost non-existent AND we had somewhere to sit down to eat/drink/chat away from the wind. But the "gourmet" food? WHERE THE FUCK WAS THAT???!!! Like Spa, I would rather have had fried food on a stick than that overpriced crap they called "gourmet"! WHO THE FUCK puts an EGG on a GYRO??!!! BLEH!
The best part for me besides seeing Priest was hanging out with everyone - Ron, Bev, Vail, Randy, Spa and others that are not here on the board!! I truly love each and every one of you!

At one point, Rob looked over to the side stage and asked if he was allowed to talk saying, "Do I have time to talk?" Rob seemed dead set on proving just WHY he is THE ONE AND ONLY METAL GOD! He went for the highs with everything he had. Did he hit them all? No and I don't expect him to, but he hit most of them and when he did, the crowd ROARED with appreciation!! Rob was constantly moving - the back surgery obviously has done him wonders and he is able to move pain free again which is wonderful to see! He did not stand in front of the teleprompter, rather glanced at the words if he needed to and then looked up at the crowd to sing the words. I have always been impressed with Rob's humility and the fact that he is always a gentleman. He never puts others down in order to build himself up because he is strong and confident in himself and he lets his performance speak for itself. So for me this performance was a direct answer to both Paul Di'Anno and Bruce Dickinson's negative comments about him. All I have to say to Paul and Bruce is: JEALOUS MUCH??!!
It was a FANTASTIC weekend! We had an absolute BLAST! It was an honor to be a part of such a great group of people. We truly are a metal family here on the Board.

HRMG I have to agree, ROS definately has caught the imagination of the younger generation....people up here young and old seem to LOVE the album too...ROS is a masterpiece.
There are far far more people who love it vs. people who dislike it......THAT is obvious.
I dont see how one COULDNT like it if they claim to be a fan of quality Judas Priest.

sounds a lot like the first, and last monsters of rock festival in calgary. Priest played, it was mostly a ozzfest lineup, with priest added. 90 min line to get in, missed the first band. bathrooms were ok just 20 min wait. Beer line over 2 hours. Burger 90 min, thankfully we went just before a thunderstorm, so were undercover for that. |

That friggin' GPS...
You know what, though? I did a picture of that bridge shortly after you drove off, so your car MIGHT be in the shot. Should look closely.
Acolyte. Yup, that was the setlist. And yes, the VIP experience could've been better. More port-a-potties, to start. Took every fiber of my being not to squat and go while in line.

HRMG. Yes, no Love Bites... THAT bit. <==pun intended.
SPA Agree 100% VIP SUCKED THERE!!! WHAT THE HELL WAS SO VIP ABOUT IT?!? Shitty freakin' setup for that venue.

Delays when your exhausted. REALLY REALLY SUCK!
I know the feeling. Once lost the connecting flight home in NY after our flight out of Greece made us too late to catch it. Spent 8 hours in the airport all jet lagged trying to get a room assignment from Olympic. Finaly got a room at midnight and had to be up and ready for our next flight by 5 am. Sucked bad.
Good to see you finally made it.

But yes, as one who had joined the "posse" at the Louder than Life festival, I can also confirm that JP played a really great show (and that it was COLD AS FUCK!!! As a thin-skinned Californian, it was unbearable). I wished that it could go on, but alas, the festival staff was dead set on finishing the day on time. Kept many of us from getting the half-dozen or so guitar picks on the floor. Highlights for me this set (and first festival, I might add) include Halls of Valhalla (freakin' great!!!), Victim of Changes and Dragonaut. Heck, just Rob's singing and Richie's solo in YGATC were incredible displays of power and talent. Although I think the biggest and best part was getting to spend the weekend with some really great 'Priest fans and really aweome people. Best mini-vacation I had ever taken. Could never have asked for anything better (aside from a longer set from JP, though... and no more Korn...heh).
Here, a pic of the band in action. <---- Vail = dunce for forgetting her good camera at the hotel.

I'm finally awake and able to function. It was a great weekend and I really enjoyed meeting up with old friends and new and enjoying our time together. Loss of sleep and freezing my ass off were the negatives of the weekend.
The show was incredible but too short. Nothing Priest could do about that though aside from sending a hit squad to bump off Korn. That would have been a good idea. lol
Rob was in great form! He moved with an ease I had not seen in years and it was truly a blessing to see it. Glenn was fantastic, Scott was spot on, Ian was smiling and seemed at ease, and Ritchie was incredible too. I was shocked to hear Turbo Lover, but I found I didn't mind it. Valhalla was great! Rob nailed the part from low to high on that song! I'm not so good with breaking a set list down for individual reviews so I'll just say It was an awesome show and I just wish we could have heard them for another hour. I'm selfish that way.
This was the first Live and Loud Festival and it might be the last if the people who put this shit together didn't learn a thing or two. I have a list of compaints about the VIP experience there. I could care less that they hung chandaliers from the tent tops. What matters is this. Is there enough bathrooms to keep people from standing in line for far too long? NO. Is there enough casual seating in the eating areas? NO. Is the food advertised as Gormet good? NO I'd rather have state fair things on sticks. I know what to expect from that. Not a suprise gyro with egg. (yuck).

Hope to hear from others in the group. 'Twas an honor as always to be with y'all !

We made it home safely, stopping at a Waffle House for breakfast and Bilbo's in Portage for dinner. Damn I miss my Hobbit Stix and dill dip being so close in East Lansing!! Glad to see you made it home safe and sound!

@Nupe, they have announced in Sweden i believe , finland i am sure will follow , if they are celebreting 30 years of DOTF then do it right , give us freewheel burning and the sentinel again, also it says "defenders of the faith" as a song , the last time i heard that was 1990 when it was the song that played when the lights came on , do they mean the "heavy duty" intro to DOTF?????

Maybe this setlist is their way of celebrating the 30th anniversary of DOTF... man, there's some great live songs there! Can't wait for when they confirm European dates (they've visited Finland on every major tour since 2005 so I don't see why they wouldn't come here again).

This doesn't surprise me one bit. Rob was NEVER the one that wanted to retire. I was at the HALFORD show in Grand Rapids, MI the very night Priest announced their retirement. It was clear to me that Rob was NOWHERE near ready to retire. People were pinning the retirement announcement on Rob and I came back from that show and put that idea to rest - saying there was NO WAY that it was Rob!! I was right. Rob isn't slowing down anytime soon!!

You know I've been checking out the comments left behind about the new Judas Priest album since the album came out in July and at first the comments were very negative about the production about the title track even before July when I came out but now two months after the record is released it is hard to find negative comments about this magnificent glorious album.
30 years from now even this record will be deemed as one of the top three albums of Judas Priest.
I remember 30 years ago in 1984 when defenders of the faith was released there were some people skeptics that were calling the album a commercial failure but that was only a few and now 30 years later it's deemed as one of the best Judas Priest records there is.

Right so here's my Redeemer of Souls review.
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this album. Standout tracks for me are Sword of Damocles, Cold Blooded and Crossfire. As I've said before, Crossfire as a definite Rocka Rolla vibe, and Cold Blooded reeked of 80s era Priest. Halls of Valhalla is rip snorter of a metal tune too.
Least favourite tracks - ROS, March of the Damned. Not terrible songs, but just missing something in my opinion.
Overall, I give this album a 7.5/10 at first full listen through, that may change lol. A bloody good effort for a bunch of old metal legends!
