Can't say I've ever heard of 'Sweetest Day', LOL! Sounds random.

Evenin', ladies and gents!

Today I went to the Dollar Tree to buy a birthday card. Right next to the birthday cards was a section filled with "Sweetest Day" cards. Is this "Sweetest Day" a new holiday or something? 'Cause I've never heard of it. And judging from the red and pink that's all over these cards, it looks like another Valentines Day. Can anyone confirm?

All good points as well.

I think that Dont go was someones attempt to turn them into a pop band.  if that single had taken off I bet there would have been a change of direction.,  thankfully it didnt and we got SFV

the biggest blunder?

Probably the reunion timeline.  Rob comes back in 03/04.  album 05.  AOR a good solid metal album.  not a game changer, but decent.  then wait 3 years, put out an album that was contraversial.  why the wait.  then we go now 5 years, with just ocasional talk of an album.  5 years between albums is not what relevant bands do.

either that or the biggest blunder was rob leaving to begin with.  they went 6 years between albums then, could have figued out his solo shit and had him back in time for jugulator (or whatever it would have been)

I agree. They have missed the boat on several occasions IMO. Go back to BS Tour, never played BTL,MG's or Rapid Fire and why make a video of Don't Go ? Why not Solar Angels or Desert Plains ? They have never really capitalized on their strong points.

Back into training again and I ran to Nostra 1. No secret that I am on the side that liked the album. However, why the HELL did they make a video out of WAR?!?! FFS! Persecution! Why push "Prophecy?" While not a bad tune by any means but nobody that isn't a true JP fan knows its name. Push NOSTRA itself!!!! DAMN! Nothing makes me push a run farther (and also question the "Curbishley" management). SO many dropped balls (American football reference...keep your minds out of the gutter!) it isn't funny.

I'll try to curb the rant that is waiting to come out. Very difficult. Baxtergate? Not a word anywhere I have looked. Last comment: AAAAAARGH!!!!! 'Nuff said.

Admit it. You killed "Eggert" didn't you, laughing boy? Things get a little too hot for you? Develop a conscience and decided to give up that ruse?

Karma is a bitch, dude.

Very cool theater and very nice area. Even if you can't get to a show, see if you can get a look in the theater.

Want something WAY off the beaten path that only real Detroiters know? Take a spin through Heidelberg. Again, take their warnings VERY seriously (read how to get there and see more pix on the site below) and don't wander a street away in any direction but DO get out and take all the pix you want. You'll find cameras a lot more expensive than yours out without fear. www.heidelberg.org/

Where else would you see something like THIS? All of two blocks. Be sure to walk around the BACK of the houses. Really impressive. Wiki it and you'll learn more. Sign the lady's house at the end of the block for a buck! Kewl.

...not trying to go on and on here but I was checking out 100 Years Of Broadway and there is no way I could sit through that. I'll go through your suggestions and look online. I'll figure it out. I really liked the look of that theatre though and thought that would be cool. I've been to Detroit before I just didn't search out anything to do. Went to Cobo Hall to watch Ultimate Fighting and stayed at the Renaissance Center and checked out the Detroit Zoo the day after a Priest show(DTE) but that's it.

[Budred] Thursday, September 05, 2013 2:17:19 AM

I was checking out The Fox Theatre. That place looks cool as hell. Love the decor.  On Nov. 3 they have "100 Years Of Broadway". Not for me but my wife loves that stuff. We went to a couple of shows on cruise ships and she had a blast. She taught dance for 15 years so it's kind of her thing. Her Birthday is that week so maybe I'll see if I can get tickets and surprise her. Mushroomhead on Saturday and 100 Years Of Broadway on Sunday. Now if that isn't a contrast in taste I don't know what is. (lol). Maybe do the riverwalk early in the day. Thanks for the suggestions.(again)(lol)

[Budred] Thursday, September 05, 2013 1:42:55 AM

@Guido, thanks. I'll check the theatres you mentioned for a Nov. 3 show. The riverwalk may be a good idea. We walk every Sunday(5miles) anyway so that would be cool. I'll read your post again and look into some of your suggestions.

Greektown! If you are into Greek food, it is a must-stop. Depends on when you go, as well. Look to see who is at the Fox Theater, Greektown (not to be confused with the area) has a casino (called the Greektown Casino...what a surprise), I'd see who was playing at Joe Louis Arena (last place we saw Priest), you might catch a hockey game or even football as all are in that area. No major parks but you can jump on the People Mover and get a good tour of the city as it runs in a big circle. Go to the top of the Renaissance Center if you REALLY want a view. You can go for drinks or food. It sits at the top and both spin so you can see beautiful views of the city and Windsor on a good day or night. Belle Isle is a park / Island that isn't much but good for a car tour. Great parks are further north. Did you see the pix of Harpos I posted for you? Vacation thread. While it would be great to catch a show there, you do NOT want to hang out there at night. No problem at all in the venue itself and I even park on the street but don't get lost in that area. If in doubt? Head south into Grosse Pointe. Drive too far south and you'll hit the lake! Drive Lakeshore to be sure. Beautiful houses and all of Grosse Pointe runs along the lake.

I'd say "RiverWalk" and the Atwater Brewing Company (both along the Detroit River) but November is COLD! Fishbones for good music (all downtown) and food and even St. Andrews Hall is worth a look to see who is playing. Tons of museums (Motown is worth it, DIA - Detroit Institute of Arts, etc. if you are into such things. Urban sprawl, though. You won't find much by way of "natural areas" unless you head north. Clarification, by north I mean hours to the north!

Good start with what I mention above. Hell, you could spend a DAY in the Ren Cen alone! Park there and take the People Mover around. Only parking cheaper is at the casino and getting a free stamp at the cage. THEN take the People Mover around!

@Guido. What would one do in Detroit in November to have fun. May go to Harpo's and would like to find something to do the next day. Pittsburgh has "Station Square" and Cleveland has "The Flats". Entertainment districts with restaraunts, bars, nightclubs, etc. Does Detroit have such an area. Any suggestions. Open to other things also. Nice State parks, etc. Just looking for ideas.

...i was watching "Pawn Stars" a couple of weeks ago and one of the owners was given tickets to this camp as a birthday gift and he got to sing with Roger Daltry of The Who.(his idol). This was the first time that I've heard of it. I told my wife it would be pretty wild if Priest would do it and about two days later I saw Demonizer's post. Very cool!!!
