Give These Guys (And a Gal) A Chance

"Arrival", the new video from WILDESTARR — the band featuring original VICIOUS RUMORS bassist Dave Starr (now on all guitar and bass) and vocalist London Wilde — can be viewed below. According to a press release, the clip is "a visually stunning sci-fi work of art combining dark elements of 'Blade Runner', 'Batman', 'The Outer Limits', and classic film noir."

"Arrival" is the title track of WILDESTARR's debut album, which came out last August through the band's own label, Furnace Maximus Records. According to a press release, the CD contains "10 original tracks of searing melodic metal, in the vein of JUDAS PRIEST, VICIOUS RUMORS, SAVATAGE and EVANESCENCE."

Dave previously stated about "Arrival", "We spent three years working on this record, and the results are just amazing. It has been a real labor of love for London and I, and this is by far the best record I have ever done in my career. Although I am very proud of my past with VICIOUS RUMORS and all the great records we did, I can honestly say that this new album is better than anything I have ever done before. Great songs, great playing, great production, and London is going to really turn some heads with her amazing vocals; I have never heard a woman sound like this before, she has pipes that people are comparing to Rob Halford, Geoff Tate, and Carl Albert."

Scorpions Retiring

It was always our pleasure, our purpose in life, our passion and we were fortunate enough to make music for you - whether it was live on stage or in the studio, creating new songs.

While we were working on our album these past few months, we could literally feel how powerful and creative our work was – and how much fun we were still having, in the process. But there was also something else: We want to end the Scorpion’s extraordinary career on a high note. We are extremely grateful for the fact that we still have the same passion for music we’ve always had since the beginning. This is why, especially now, we agree we have reached the end of the road. We finish our career with an album we consider to be one of the best we have ever recorded and with a tour that will start in our home country Germany and take us to five different continents over the next few years.

We want you, our fans, to be the first to know about this. Thank you for your never-ending support throughout the years!

We uploaded the very first snippets from our new album for you.

And now… let’s get the party started and get ready for a “Sting in the Tail”!

See you on the world tour,

Yours

Scorpions

Lips of Anvil Interview

Raoul Hernandez of The Austin Chronicle recently conducted an interview with guitarist/vocalist Steve "Lips" Kudlow of Canadian metal legends ANVIL. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow below.

The Austin Chronicle: In the film, getting a record label is a main concern. After the film, you got one. "This is Thirteen" came out on VH1 Classic Records. Was that what you thought it would be?

Lips: Well, I knew that once the movie came out and there was publicity there's gonna be labels wanting to be part of it. It's such a herding business out there. It's really obvious. It was just a question of what they were willing to do for us — what was on the table. What was the convenience of it for us, or was there any convenience for us. But it had gotten to the point where we couldn't keep up with mail order stuff. The supply can't meet the demand because we didn't have the resources. What happened was we did a licensing deal with VH1 Records and it came out in October.

The Austin Chronicle: On the new album, back-to-back songs "Feed the Greed" and "Big Business" address the music business. How is it now to be in the music business, "agents, managers, a record company?" How's that treating you?

Lips: As horrible as it always was [dissolves into laughter]. [Then, resigned] It's always been the same. It's a pound of flesh, no doubt about it. It's all about co-dependency. They need you and you need them. It's never just one-sided: "Oh, we're going to help you out." They help themselves. It's a business. That's the way it is. They have no choice and you've got to deal with it. That's the way it is.

The Austin Chronicle: Strange to want something that in the end is going to be dysfunctional.

Lips: I'm not sure what you mean by that?

The Austin Chronicle: Like you said, they need you and you need them, but the "music business" is already something of an oxymoron. It's fucked up from the get-go.

Lips: That's right. What choice do you have? No one does anything for nothing. Every inch you pay for and it comes out of your hide. Realistically it's all coming from you as the artist, but you're giving up massive percentages to forge forward. That's just the nature of it. No one's going to do anything for you unless they're getting a piece. The potential of you getting very wealthy is certainly there, but not while you have a whole trainload of people to pay. You're going to maintain and you're going to keep the train going down the track, but you're not going to become a millionaire because it costs too much [chuckles]. Just like anything, you sustain it and eventually you'll get there, but immediate, it isn't like that. It costs a lot of money to make money. It's just the nature of business, and particularly the music business, which is even that much more exaggerated.

The Austin Chronicle: In the film, is it Robb's [Reiner, drums] sister who expresses no small amount of pessimism about the band? Your families must be blown away by this turnaround of events.

Lips: Yeah, they're really celebrating it. It's been wonderful. At the same time, it's a double-edged sword. I'm away from home. My wife is flipped out because she's got so many responsibilities that I'm not there to help her with. Life is filled with challenges, so you always have to be careful of what you wish for. And I'm not saying that I should be careful of what I wish for.... Nothing comes without a price. Those are the balances in life. I knew that going into this. When I was told I was going to do a movie I knew it would be what it's ending up to be, and I also knew what came with it. I'm going to be away from home. I'm not going to be home for my son. I'm not going to be home for my wife. I'm not going to be there to cut the grass, to shovel the snow — to generally be there. This is an extraordinarily time consuming endeavor and I realized that. That's the price you pay. Before this all happened I told my son when he was 7, 8 years old — we watched "The Osbournes" — I said, "We're going to become like the Osbourne family. People are going to know us wherever we go. I'm not going to be home all the time. I'm going to be out playing and you're not going to see me a lot." And everything I warned him about is now transpiring, but it doesn't make it easier. All these things lay heavy on your woman at home — you're not there. These are the costs. It's not that I'm complaining. I'm just stating reality — state of mind — for what it is. It's great. It's absolutely amazing, but like I said, there's certain aspects that you have to be aware are going to take place. You have to be on top of it and be as understanding as you possibly can to the other people around you. Everything that I do has an effect on everybody else. It's not completely a selfish endeavor.

The Austin Chronicle: You worked for this for so long. You put all of your dreams into this and it happened. What's the next dream?

Lips: Hmmm. I really don't think this dream could come to anywhere near an end because I would still like to pay off the mortgage on my house. You know, pay for my son's education in another six, seven years when he finishes high school and so forth. There's a lot yet to go, man. Freedom is still quite a ways away from my perspective and I'm working on it. There's goals and aspirations that I still have to reach at this point. Obviously, yes, I'm very famous and things have turned around for the band and we're very busy, but at the same time, like I said, there's a huge choo-choo train that people are hungry and want a piece of and it's going to take a while to go down that track until everybody gets fed and I see the end of the tunnel. I'm aiming at things financially that I'm hoping to get to. And that's not a complaint. I'm totally willing and able and excited and full of hope, so it's all good. As long as it continues to create more music and more tours and continue on it's never over. Just like it wasn't over for THE ROLLING STONES after so many years. You have to write another album and go out on tour. It never stops. That's the beautiful thing about it. It's not just something that's a means to an end, like you become a dentist and go every day and fix people's teeth [chuckles].

"Soul Sucka" Is NOT The Name of the New Ozzy Album! YAY!

Ozzy Osbourne has scrapped "Soul Sucka" as the working title of his new solo album. "When we put that on the Internet none of my fan base liked the title," Osbourne tells RollingStone.com. "They were like, 'I can't imagine me walking around the fucking house with the words 'Soul Sucka' on my T-shirt.' So I was like, 'Fuck it. I've got to come up with something else!'" The now-untitled set is due out in July, the same month Osbourne says that Ozzfest will return after a one-year break. "After Ozzfest I'm doing the most extensive tour of my life," he says. "It'll be something like, 3,025 dates."

Joe Perry: Still Being A Douche

According to The Pulse of Radio, AEROSMITH plans to begin auditioning new singers next month, with guitarist Joe Perry telling Canada's QMI Agency that the band is "already getting the word out there." He added that they will "start having some auditions, making some phone calls. Hopefully, we'll have found a new singer by the summer, and AEROSMITH will be able to go back out on the road." The group aims to replace original frontman Steven Tyler, who announced last fall that he was taking two years off to pursue a solo project before later checking himself into rehab for an addiction to painkillers.

Although Tyler stated that he planned to be "writing, recording and performing with AEROSMITH" once his stint in rehab was completed, Perry said that the rest of the group is not sure what Tyler's status is: "It's kind of hard to get a straight answer about what's going on. He has to have leg surgery and foot surgery and it's basically going to take him out of the picture for about a year, year and a half. So, in the meantime, the rest of the band wants to play."

Perry pointed out that the band hired fill-ins for bassist Tom Hamilton and guitarist Brad Whitford last year when both were ill, saying, "That's basically how I look at it; we need another singer to fill in."

Perry has said in other interviews that AEROSMITH might lean toward hiring an established "name" vocalist to tour with the group, and there were a few people they already had in mind.

But he also told QMI that the door is open for Tyler to return: "I'm ready to write with him, to play on stage with him anytime he's physically ready and wants to do it. But it's really up to him . . . the last things he said to the press were that he wanted to work with the band and sing with the band, so we'll see."

Meanwhile, Palm Springs, California newspaper the Desert Sun reported that Tyler made a surprise appearance at a local bar called the Tilted Kilt on Tuesday night (January 19), not far from the Betty Ford Center where he is in rehab. Tyler, accompanied by a publicist and management rep, reportedly sang the AEROSMITH hit "I Don't Want To Miss A Thing" during a karaoke competition. One witness claimed that he only drank Shirley Temples and left after singing.

Philip Anselmo Interview

DOWN frontman Philip Anselmo has confirmed to U.K.'s Metal Hammer magazine that the group is currently working on a new album for a summer release. In addition, he has been working with "a shitload of bands" for his Housecore record label, including RED RIVER REVIVAL, EVIL ARMY, haarp (all lower case) and WARBEAST.

"I've been in the studio with this dirty rock band, kinda very much like AC/DC-influenced rock band called RED RIVER REVIVAL," he said. "I just got out of the studio with the mighty haarp — that's all in lower-case letters. They are fucking brutal and slow. They're more different than anything else out there; so fucking different — these fuckers are outrageous. They're from New Orleans, and they're probably the best local band for a long time... since the '90s. We've got EVIL ARMY, haarp and WARBEAST from Texas — that's Bruce from RIGOR MORTIS's band. He's the singer from RIGOR MORTIS. It's fucking brutal. It's true thrash. So well-executed, double-guitar brutality. I'm going to mix the new ARSON ANTHEM next week, which is fucking outrageous as well. It's never-ending, man."

On March 16, 2009, Anselmo spoke passionately and candidly about his music career and his history with — and the dangers of — drugs, particularly heroin, during an appearance at the Loyola University in New Orleans, Louisiana. When asked whether he was sober, he explained that "sober" is a "harsh" word.

"A sober person is absolutely clean of anything that is considered legally wrong or illegal," Anselmo clarified to Metal Hammer. "I smoke pot, man. Matter of fact, since my back surgery I have severe nerve damage down my left leg, and I find that marijuana actually helps that very much. I'm not saying it's completely medicinal, but it doesn't hurt that it fucking helps! I might have a few beers too, mostly on Sundays during games or if there's a big fight, but I will remind you... after three beers, if I don't take some asprin in the morning I'm going to wake up with the worst fucking hangover. So that's my half sober."

Mick Mars Interview

Mike Devlin of the Canwest News Service recently conducted an interview with MÖTLEY CRÜE guitarist Mick Mars. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow below:

On MÖTLEY CRÜE's stories of debauchery, excess and ego:

Mars: "I did my fair share of drinking and drugging, but, to me, it was, and still is, always about the music. You can take everything away from me and I'll play in sweats and a T-shirt with no shoes on stage. As long as I have my music, it's all I really, honestly care about. Playing the best that I can, writing the best that I can, good, bad or indifferent, it's my passion. That's the most important thing to me on the planet."

On living with ankylosing spondylitis, a form of arthritis that causes severe joint pain:

Mars: "Some days are good, some days are worse than others. But, on an average, it's pretty steady. You become accustomed to it after a while. I deal with it. I don't care, as long as I can play."

On the success of MÖTLEY CRÜE's latest album, "Saints Of Los Angeles":

Mars: "I have to put it all on the fans. They are very loyal to us. Our fans are hardcore. They came to our gigs when they were (teenagers). Now they've had their families and it's back around again. They're bringing their kids to the concerts, but they haven't lost that respect. They are fans of MÖTLEY and our music. And now they want to share it with the next generation."

New 3 Disc DVD Set From King Diamong Release Date Announced

Massacre Records has set a March 26 European release date for "At The Graves", the long-awaited three-disc DVD set from KING DIAMOND. "This has taken so much longer than expected because of so many technical issues that I won't bore you to death, but we recently acquired a brand new noise-reduction program that we're using to enhance all the footage, and it's amazing how much better everything is beginning to look compared to the original tapes," the band's singer and namesake wrote in an October 2009 online posting.

On October 13, 2009, Metal Blade Records re-released KING DIAMOND's "The Spider's Lullabye" and "The Graveyard" albums. Both LPs were remastered by KING DIAMOND guitarist Andy La Rocque and each title includes bonus material that purchasers are able to obtain digitally. Both "The Spider's Lullabye" and "The Graveyard" include live "bootleg" versions (with video footage) of the following songs: "The Spider's Lullabye" from the album of the same name, and "Trick Or Treat" and "Up From The Grave" from "The Graveyard".

Rob Halford is the King Of Heavy metal and is our Metal God and HELL YEAH,hails to Biff Byford of Saxon for stepping up as an ambassador of heavy metal!!!!!!

saxonbiff_90Get all the details on how you can join our world metal peace ambassador Biff Byford in defending the faith in the best way possible – by making ‘heavy metal’ a recognised religion in the UK!

Are you a defender of the faith? Do you throw the horns more often than you put your hands together? Then you’ll want to get in on Metal Hammer’s Metal Britannia campaign to let the powers that be know it.

In the census of 2001, over 390,000 people stated that their religion was ‘Jedi’ on their census forms, making the fictional Stars Wars creed the fourth-biggest religion in the UK. With your help, we want to give metal the recognition it deserves by getting it acknowledged as a religion in the UK!

Over the next year, Metal Hammer, with the help of Saxon’s Biff Byford acting as our very own world metal peace ambassador, will be saluting the UK’s rich heavy metal heritage, selecting a different town or city each month and celebrating its sterling contribution to our beloved music and culture.

“Metal was created here so it must be in the gene pool in the UK, I think!” says Biff. “In the early 80s there was a huge number of great bands and we were all part of the same club, whatever we called ourselves, whether it was heavy rock, rock’n’roll or heavy metal, it made no difference. There was just this huge following of over a million people in the UK and now it’s happening all over again! Getting heavy metal recognised as a religion is a great bit of rebellion, isn’t it? This really is going to be a very cool thing.”

Which bands and musicians do you think are worthy of prestigious positions within the Church Of Heavy Metal? And which towns or cities or other places do you think we should honour as integral parts of Metal Britannia over the coming months? Let us know by emailing us at [email protected].

New W.A.S.P. Promo Video - Babylon's Burning

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ktQfK3Jo-zk

"Babylon's Burning", the new video from W.A.S.P., can be viewed on YouTube. The song comes off the band's new album, "Babylon", which entered the U.K. "Rock Albums" chart at position No. 15. The CD was released in Europe on October 12 through Global Music (via Demolition Records) and was made available in the U.S. on November 17.

Regarding how he came up with the album's concept, frontman Blackie Lawless recently told AOL's Noisecreep, "I'll tell you basically where it started. It was about a year ago when all this global financial crisis — supposed crisis — was going on. In the news, everybody was talking about this global meltdown. I heard different politicians in different places — especially over here in the E.U. [where Blackie was at the time of the interview] — these guys are saying, 'Maybe it's time that we should start thinking about a one-world government.' Then I heard another guy say, 'Well, speaking of a one-world government, maybe we should have a one-world currency.'"

He added, "What really got me was there was a guy who spoke up in Brussels and said by 2017 they're going to have all the E.U. microchipped. When he said that, I stood there with my mouth hanging open. When I heard that — this is potential 666 that kind of thing — I went online and I started doing a detailed research of microchipping.

"It's actually more widespread than even I thought it was. At home, there's a school — I can't remember if it's a high school — they already had some of the students microchipped there for school lunches and stuff like that. It's an experimental thing. All the kids do for lunch is they wave their hand in front of the thing that reads the computer bar. It's all done and they go eat.

"There's a doctor over here that I saw in Finland. He's the biggest [general practitioner] nutrition specialist. He said he believed this will be the first generation of babies to be microchipped in the E.U. I'm listening to all this, [thinking], 'These guys understand what they're saying? This is direct, direct prophecy coming out of the Bible.' When I heard all this coming out a year ago, the first thing you think when you hear a politician use the word 'crisis,' is it's usually code for trying to figure out some way to take some more freedom away from you, or certainly to tax you one way or another."

According to Lawless, the Bible's book of Revelation and the book of Daniel was "astonishingly accurate in the description of what these guys were talking about. These guys are talking 2017. That's eight years from now. That's not a long time from now. Twenty years ago, I wrote a record called 'Headless Children' and there's a line in there, it says, 'Four horsemen sit high up in this saddle in waiting and ride the ride the bloody trail of no return.' I heard these guys talking, are we closer to that potential Armageddon scenario than we are then?

"What I am trying to do is with any kind of art, you're trying to make people think. All art is designed to provoke thought — whether it's movies, or music, or sculpture or painting. It's all designed to get you to think, to also understand in a particular scenario like this: Elections have consequences. Don't just think your voice doesn't matter. I used to think it's me and my one voice doesn't matter. We do know that groups of people coming together really can make a huge difference, whether it is or it isn't.

"In democratic society, elections have consequences. Don't just look at some guy because he's speaking well, or you think he's going to be OK or something like that. Go dig into the guy's background. Look at what this guy is really standing for and try to make a decision from there. I understand we all get busy lives. But in democratic societies, you have a responsibility to really make your votes be heard and not just go along with the status quo."

Iron Maiden - 8 New Songs Written

On Friday, January 1, IRON MAIDEN drummer Nicko McBrain told Eddie Trunk — co-host of the VH1 Classic television program "That Metal Show" who has a long-running radio show, "Friday Night Rocks", on New York's Q104.3 FM — that the band will enter the studio in a couple weeks to start work on a new CD. According to Trunk, Nicko "said there was about eight songs written so far so the band would probably need to come up with a few more new songs while recording. [He added that] the material was a little different than past albums and they were taking their time with the recording schedule." McBrain also stated that the "new CD probably won't come out until 2011," according to Trunk.

IRON MAIDEN guitarist Janick Gers revealed to BBC News in November that the band was on its way "to Paris for three weeks to work on some new stuff." He added, "The most important thing for a band is to create new music, otherwise you're not valid — you become a parody."

Christopher Lee, Oldest Metal Fucker Ever!
Legendary actor Christopher Lee, who has appeared in such cinematic milestones as "Lord Of The Rings", "Star Wars", "The Man with the Golden Gun" and "Dracula", will release "Charlemagne", a concept album with original words and symphonic metal music, on March 15, 2010.

Composer Marco Sabiu, best known for his collaborations with Kylie Minogue, TAKE THAT, Pavarotti and Morricone, has created a truly epic canvas by introducing modern metal symphonies, in a style which resembles a movie score. Marie-Claire Calvet, a graduate from Bristol University, transports the listener into "The Dark Ages", with a very powerful storyline and mesmerizing lyrics. A full orchestra, heavy metal musicians, choir and special guest vocalists bring the legend of Charlemagne to life.

Lee has previously collaborated with MANOWAR and RHAPSODY OF FIRE.

My "Comical" Romance has NOTHING to do with 'heavy metal" and for them to say Priest is not really "metal" shows the integrity of thier knowlege in the realm of heavy metal. They are a bunch of tunnel hat skate board goth wanna be posers and these kids don't know what the fuck metal is all about in the first place, they think they are king shit because "they have a record deal"...."who the fuck doesn't have a record deal these days"....these bastards are a fucking joke gone bad and should be punished for thier obvious dorkish behavior,FUCK "MCR".

Almost felt sorry for them when they played Download festival a few years back- I was out by the car park waiting for a bus when they came on and you could hear the booing from there- the car park was a good ten minutes walk from the main stage. That got shown on TV after, and sure enough, there was a big crowd of people there when mcr played- all walking in the direction of the camp site.

A few years ago MCR shared the bill with Tool at the Big Day Out ( festival ). I did not attend but I watched a show on C4 ( music channel ) about the day. One of the interviewers was asking fans what they thought of the bands. This ugly little emo chick goes "We came here to see MCR and some bogan ( metal fan ) pushed me over and said fuck off emo" I cracked up. Wish it was me that did that. MCRs fans are worse than MCR.

My Chemical Romance’s Gerard Way Questions Judas Priest’s Metal

terrybezer / News / 23/12/2009 12:23pm

mcr0290Gerard Way doesn’t consider Judas Priest metal. Oh no, he didn’t!

Gerard Way has been flapping his gums about the new MCR album which is due to be with us in 2010. In amongst jabbering on about the band’s new album, he mentioned that some of the album has been inspired by Judas Priest. OK, now you’ve got our attention (not that we believe it for a second, obviously).

He then goes on to tell spinnermusic.co.uk: “Judas Priest is considered metal, but it’s great rock n roll. (New MCR songs have) nothing to do with that era of metal, the hair rock, but then having everything to do with like the birth of power-anthem metal.”

Judas Priest aren’t metal, they’re great rock and roll. Really? Judas Priest aren’t metal? Are you for real, douchebag?
(I'd like to add, since when did MCR have anything to do with rock n roll, let alone metal?)

Songs From The Sparkle Lounge sounds like the title a bunch of child sex offenders would call their album. Songs From The Sparkle Lounge: Music To Molest Minors. And now they're making cartoons and video games in an attempt to make themselves more appealing to children. Very suspect if you ask me. Make a stand against pedophiles. Boycott Def Leppard.  [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by kiamat from Tuesday, December 22, 2009 3:35:31 AM)

Def Leppard cartoon show in pipeline

Def Leppard
The band were huge in the 1980s on both sides of the Atlantic

British metal band Def Leppard are planning a cartoon TV show in the US starring themselves.

The group has entered a deal with music publishing company Primary Wave, which is also developing Def Leppard video games and mobile phone applications.

The animation project is still in the early stages and has not been pitched to TV networks yet, according to the head of Primary Wave, Larry Mestel.

There are no recording or touring plans in the pipeline, a band spokesman said.

The band toured North America earlier this year with Poison and Cheap Trick.

The group's last album, Songs From the Sparkle Lounge, debuted on the US pop chart at number five in May 2008 and in the UK chart at number 10.

It was the highest entry for the band on either chart since the 1990s.

Primary Wave will now administer Def Leppard's publishing rights although copyrights will continue to be owned the the songs' composers.

Def Leppard are best know for their albums Pyromania and Hysteria, which sold millions of copies in the 1980s.

Rage Against The Machine Seal Christmas Number 1!

terrybezer / News / 20/12/2009 20:08pm

ratm90Rage beat X-Factor by over 50,000 copies!

Rage Against The Machine were tonight revealed as the first ever UK download-only Christmas number one. RATM sold a stggering 502, 672 copies while X-Factor winner/loser sold 450, 838 copies.

Congratulations to RATM and a giant high-five to each of you who bought your copy. Talk about taking the power back!

(To those who are not British- Simon Cowell's TV 'talent' parade has dominated the Christmas charts for the past four years, so this is something of an achievement. Plus lots of people got very offended by the idea of a 'disgusting' song like Killing In the Name Of being number 1 'at this festive time' and RATM got to swear a lot on the radio and upset the BBC. All in all, it's made for a very entertaining week.)

Rammstein To Debute New Promo Video On Monday

"Ich Tu Dir Weh" (English translation: "I'll Hurt You"), the new video from German industrial metallers RAMMSTEIN, will make its online debut on on Monday, December 21 at 1:00 p.m. CET at visit-x/rammstein. According to a press release, the clip "is the ultimate distillation of a RAMMSTEIN concert into five minutes. As with the preceding video, 'Pussy', Jonas Åkerlund [METALLICA, SATYRICON, MADONNA, THE PRODIGY] stands at the helm as director, and for 'Ich Tu Dir Weh', he captures the show on the band's 'rehearsal stage' in 35mm. A full-bodied format to do filmic justice to RAMMSTEIN's own brand of 'widescreen' staging.

"The plan was simple. Åkerlund uses the language of grand cinema, RAMMSTEIN delivers the rest: the theatre, the flesh, the frenzy. The result is formidable. 'Ich Tu Dir Weh' shows the band at its purest and most concentrated. A beast, only awakened to life onstage under the spell of fire and a maddening roar."

"Ich Tu Dir Weh" comes off RAMMSTEIN's new album, "Liebe Ist Für All Da", which sold 22,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 13 on The Billboard 200 chart. Previously, the group's best rank came with its 1998 chart debut, "Sehnsucht", which peaked at No. 45 off the strength of its only U.S. radio chart hit, "Du Hast". Although the band just had its highest chart debut, "Reise, Reise" sold over 26,000 copies in the U.S. its opening week of sales.
