Brand new Judas Priest "Lightning Strike " sounds killer to me! Yeah it's got the same ball park drum pattern as the Redeemer Of Souls title track song and yeah it's basic and yeah it's not ground breaking but wtf else do we want? I can name songs of old that are not better: "Here Come The Tears/SAINTS in Hell/Burnin Up/Don't Go/Take These Chains/Eat Me Alive/One Shot At Glory
Granted this might be the first time in Priest history that 2 albums may sound alike (Redeemer Of Souls & Firepower).... although listening on my phone from first listen does sound similar in style.... that's the only strange thing.... perhaps with a proper listen with ALL SONGS from start to finish on a proper stereo will give us a better idea as to weather the Firepower album has it's own sound identity .
Anyways I like it.... I'm sure it's a good fit on an album ..... crazy there is new Judas Priest in 2018!

Oh, situation report regarding next summer. I decided to eventually go to the festival for two days to see both Ozzy Osbourne and Judas Priest. Two-day ticket plus bus travels from the train station to the airfield (where the festival is held) cost me a total of 139€. Haven't checked train ticket prices yet, but shouldn't be much as Hyvinkää is not that far away.
I reckoned paying 40€ "extra" to see another great heavy metal artist on his last world tour is well worth it.

Actually, I just checked hotel prices. Because Hyvinkää is a fairly small town most of the hotels in the city and near it are already fully booked (much of them probably by the artists and their crews). The few rooms that are still available cost 300 euros. For one night. Normal prices are like 70-80 euros for a night!
I really need to figure out some way of making this work. I'd hate to miss the show.

As HB I dont often travel to see shows. Last JP tour I was hoping that I could travel for work to a city they were in, then got hit with a travel ban. So far I went to Edmonton to see Metallica. luckily thats less than 3 hours, but only really did that because my daughter wants to see them. its a 12 to 15 hour drive for me to see JP upcoming. just not sure how I am gonna make this all happen. Regarding the ticket prices... for the first time I'm actually really having to consider whether or not I'm going to see them. Their only concert in Finland is at the Hyvinkää Rockfest, and one-day tickets cost 89 euros. Add to that travelling to the location and a possible hotel room and I'm looking at a potential 150-170 euro bill at least. On the other hand, two-day tickets cost a "mere" 119 euros, so I could max out the entertainment factor and go see Ozzy Osbourne on Wednesday (none of the other bands in the festival are interesting to me). Although that could mean another expensive night at the hotel...
In comparison: in 2011 I saw them at Sauna Open Air in Tampere, and only went to watch them. A one-day ticket there cost 58 euros, plus train tickets there and back which were 29 euros. That's 87 euros in total, still less than just the ticket to the Hyvinkää festival. Granted, I was a student at the time so I got a 50% discount on train tickets; with normal prices the whole trip would've cost me 106 euros. Meanwhile their indoor concerts at the Helsinki Icehall have always been 50-60 euros, and travel there has been almost free because I've been able to use local public transport.
On the other hand, I have far more disposable income now. During the previous years I've either been a student or unemployed, but now I'm in my first full year of a properly paid job and it looks very likely I'll be continuing for at least much of the next year as well. So the idea of splashing upwards to 200 euros to see two great heavy metal acts, one of whom is definitely retiring and another which might follow suit quite soon as well, is certainly tempting.

I fucking LOVE the album cover!!! Hell yeah and Vail was right on with the prediction of art work reminiscent of Screaming For Vengeance ! I love the art how obviously it's a futuristic metallic horse another mystical being in the Judas Priest repertoire !

Dude, it is most certainly your venue / area! I paid some $55 to get pit tix at the exact same show. Moment it went live for me? I could have gotten seats for $45 each. I just don't know the place. Plus, who wants seats when I could be standing on the floor?

But if not, we always have our memories of the shows that we have been to and a brand new album to look forward to cranking for years to come!!
I'm actually "not" going to Judas Priest and Saxon here in kent wa. I'm not paying $200 plus $bucks to see a fuckin concert when I'm in terrible extreme financial hardship and it just doesn't make any sense to fuck myself further in debt just to see Judas Priest or anybody for that matter. Couldn't enjoy the show anyways because my mind will be on $$$$ instead of absorbing classic priest in front of me. I did see the redeemer of souls show in the Tacoma dome November 2014 and it was superb....saw Saxon headline in Seattle studio 7 October 2013 so I think I'm good to go on seeing concerts anymore. It would blow your mind if you were in my $ shoes $ my priorities are focused on $$$$ and $$$$ only. Come income tax time mid February I could actually afford tickets if they aren't sold out but again...I'm not shelling out $300 bucks to get a decent seat ....the show at the Tacoma dome 3 years ago was a lot cheaper and the Saxon show 4 years ago was even cheaper.
However .....if $$$cssh was no big deal to me and I didn't have to sweat it financially and could throw around money like playing cards then I'd be there . I will 100% be buying the firepower album the day it's released that's for sure. It's not the bands fault for ticket prices and its not the bands fault I'm fucked financially either,so I will hopefully love the new album my fingers are crossed ...but pretty sure my concert days are over. At least the last 2 concerts I've seen was Saxon 2013 and Judas Priest 2014 so I'm good to go. As Acolyte - yah no thanks, I was lucky seeing Ozzy with Halford as the opener, it was a fantastic show,Ozzy was out on stage for I believe 21 songs and was in great form! Seen him on the Black sabbath tour, had the flu, looked terrible hit some notes, I went mostly to see Iommi play guitar, and for the cost of this farewell tour, I would rather have great memories of the 2010 show than a crappy recent one

Yup! LA......however, it would appear that the $ figure on that GA ticket was actually a little bit off.
It's actually $180. Doesn't even include the $20 parking pass and the merch that I will definitely buy.
And there are FOUR dates JUST for Ontario!!! What's up with that??

Guido,Head Banger,Val,acolytee55,paorcamp,spapad,Becks,HRMG and all our other friends(no I haven't forgotten you guys that don't post often) it's time to get pumped up about another Judas Priest album!!! !!! !!! !!!
It's right around the corner... end of January,February? You'd think it'd be that soon beings they have it recorded and mixed... Just working on album art work and song arrangements... trying to figure out which track should be first ect... Tom Allom & Andy Sneap plus Mike E. all 3 making sure the sound kicks ass. I have a feeling this new material is going to kick buttocks.
I'm very stoked. We are so damn lucky to still have this band cranking out our traditional British heavy metal we crave so badly... even if it could be the last one it's still mind blowing to realize the Priest is still here for us. Awesome!!!! Edited at: Saturday, October 21, 2017 2:06:51 AM
