Most concerts in the U.S. are now seated concerts, which means that even on the floor they put folding chairs out and people are asigned seat numbers by their ticket. Nobody actually sits in them for the most part but security pretty much keeps you in the seats you have been asigned, now if there happens to be a few empty seats closer than you are, you can move to them, but if the original buyers of those seats show up you'll have to move back to your original seat.

Festival seating is when the floor is standing room only, which means there are no seats and your position in the crowd is only hampered by your ability to get to the front. These shows fell out of favor in the late 80's, early 90's due to a few crowd surges that killed a few people. So festival seating is usually only used in small venues these days.

One question from overseas... main floor seatting means people are supposed to be sitten just in front of the stage?

Could be that they are going by venue size and capability for this tour. The Winston Salem place will sell well as they are only seeking to fill a half arena. They are playing some more intimate gigs than they used to back in the day. That is just fine by me as it makes it a show with not a bad seat in the house. I'm going to one pit style festival seating and one seated show. I'm more excited about the festival seating. I've never gotten a bad view at those shows because I'm clinging to the rails! lol  Fall just can't rush along fast enough now. lol

Yes . The 1st time I saw them was in Charlotte NC for the RAM IT DOWN tour, a great night.  The 2nd was at the Alltel Pavilion in Raleigh NC on the OPERATION ROCK & ROLL tour in 1991. I had good seats , maybe 10-12th row, and after Alice Cooper gave us a hell of an opening show the PRIEST came out and blew everybody away. It is definitely one of the best concerts I ever been to. It was hot as hell and the audience was wild, drinking beer and taking their clothes off, and the boys were playing like madmen, The last time I saw them was again in the same place in Raleigh as part of  OZZFEST 2004. They played a great show " opening" for BLACK SABBATH....but...after that...nothing.

They never came near for the ANGEL OF RETRIBUTION or NOSTRADAMUS or the BRITISH STEEL ANNIVERSARY TOUR.

SO yeah, I'm super happy with my 4th row tix and will keep hoping that they schedule some more shows maybe in Charlotte, Virginia. South Carolina or somewhere close so I can go see them again.

ISN'T IT STRANGE THAT THEY HAVEN'T SCHEDULED ANY CONCERTS IN HUGE CITIES LIKE BOSTON, CHARLOTTE, ATLANTA, DC, ETC WHILE THEY HAVE A BUNCH OF SHOWS IN CANADA & TEXAS ???? MAYBE THERE WILL BE A SECOND USA TOUR LEG?? ANYBODY KNOW??  LET'S HOPE.

4th row! Awesome. I noticed when I looked at the concert arena map that the pit has already sold out and the second tier is filling up quickly. They should have played NC more often. Hope you and your kid really enjoy the show.

Same story with Cleveland man. Just be patient.
(I'll be honest though, I've started scoping out Cincinnati as an alternate.)

Oh, and tell Lebron Cleveland hates him.
 Peace!

Any ticket outlet rips you off, but let's just say they are the least expensive rip off. lol

Thanks again SPADAD for all the info. I was going to lose my mind looking for the presale to the WS show! Hopefully " no presale" should mean if you buy the tickets just when they come out you should get really good seats. First people to buy( buying the $89 tix) could get front row seats? Wow, you never see that anymore. By the way, Ticketmonster DOES rip you off but not as much as the other  scalpers.
[spapad] Tuesday, August 09, 2011 6:12:29 PM
BTW, just got notified today that the Winston Salem show will not have a presale, just straight sales. That is a good thing.
