Hope you get to go, HB. It's a great place for hiking and swimming.
As for the units? I have no idea what they're called. I did look up images of yurts and it's nothing like where we slept Saturday night. Each "unit" consists of three walls made of concrete and the roof and front are made of a canvas-like material (it does get cold at night, so I'd recommend bringing a heater...and an extension cord or two). There's sparse furniture, mainly the beds (one regular and a bunk bed, hidden from view) and a storage rack for possessions. Electricity is available, and there's a lighting fixture inside the unit and in the "patio" area. Also a small firepit a little further out (not pictured). Kinda like a home away from home for city-slickers.
Here's the website for more info: www.travelyosemite.com/lodging/housekeeping-camp/

Yup, thankfully I left that park with limbs (and life) intact. This is proves. HA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Speaking of bears, though, check it out - bear-proof trash bins! Not pictured? Bear-proof food storage bins right outside every unit on the campsite. Big metal boxes where you MUST store your food plus anything that has a scent on it (scented hand sanitizers, for example). Not doing so will get you fined and/or evicted from your unit.

And if you walk further down the camp and cross this one bridge, you get this view. Not too shabby!

Yosemite Falls (upper and lower). Never thought that the base of a waterfall could be so windy!

Yes, we did have a lovely time in Detroit. Shame I couldn't have stayed longer.
HB, I think you'd like the place. Sure there are some places where everything has gone derelict but that just means all that land is open for the new Renaissance to come.
Richmond, VA had whole neighborhoods of falling down old beutiful buildings left to rot way too many years. They are now being reborn and the downtown area is looking like I remember it as a small child, no, actually better than I remember it. From Murder capitol, when I was at college there, to gentrified in 27 years. Not a bad record.

Freakin' BEAUTIFUL city! You've obviously never been, HB, so I'll let it slide. Try looking up the new Red Wings monolithic project now underway. I am always amazed at how this city continues to improve at each visit. Plus, I could watch the EASTERN Happy New Year's celebration! LOL!!!

Hello! Detroit Bitch! I can't spell beaaaches so must go with traditional spelling.
Don't delete July returned PM. It's actually very recent, the Stupid F#!*!*#$! Message Box keeps flipping me the dreaded Error 500 for any new PMs I try to write.
