One of the front runners of South African Rock and Metal is a band called Springbok Nude Girls. Based in both Cape Town and Johannesburg they recently reunited after the lead vocalist went off on a solo trip. I'm sure you can find them on wikipedia as South African websites leave much to be desired. Another South African rock band with a facebook and myspace page is Fokofpolisiekar.

Yeah aceroperuano, Cranium has been around for a long time since about 1988 but they are/were not the first............."Sodom" and "Destruction" (from Germany) were actually doing this way long before Cranium...they started this style about 1983/84  up till now ....and Cranium started in around 1988 but never released a proper album till 1997.....there were actually many bands in the early 1990's that were total true metal while the grunge thing was happening....Cranium were among some of these many bands, yes.   But thier style is a tribute to Sodom and Destruction by all means to thier sound and style.

The grunge thing was a total joke as I live in Seattle and always have....it was horrible here as all of us"true" metal heads living here were sick to our stomachs!!!  We all bashed "grunge" and demorilized anyone who liked it!

Anybody?? this band is from Sweden,said that many things related to quality metal comes to my head, in the 90's were all people were too much occupied doing alternative rock and grunge stuff, while in metal scene, decayed it was the few warriors left were doing black or death metal this guys dare to do the unthinkable: making assraping satanic speed metal in a time ruled by Pearl Jam  and Cobain cock suckers(not Nirvana, all in all have some kinda respectable stuff, I just fucking hate the fucking Jesuchrist Superstar status of Cobain), a joke band?maybe but in the end I don't think so, too humorous for his owns sake?? you guess,  but you can't deny this guys were doing a speed metal war against synth pop and disco music and doing metal with passion, balls,aggression and a bloodthirst for posers blood haven't seen since Sheepdog McLaren Razor's era; I can't stop recomending his 3 albums: Speed Metal Satan, Speed Metal Slaughter, and Speed Metal Sentence,  while the first is a more raw approach  to what we call today black thrash, the other 2 albums only can be described satanic speed metal with annoying yet enjoyable(a contradiction I know but even it works like that) vokills, 3 pieces of fierce demonic speed metal assault to your ears, defenders of steel in an era when nobody gived a damn for speed metal.

Hey cool hellrider,yeah Deicide used to be the godfathers of Death Metal along with Morbid Angel,but sadly these two great bands are not what they used to be.Deicide has lost it long ago since 2001 when they put out the  In Torment In Hell album,ever since then the Hoffman brothers that made up both guitarists left the band over disputes with Glen Benton bassist/vocalist and now Benton thinks he is king shit selling out on MTV's Headbanger's Ball and ect..the Deicide of today is a joke...but long ago in the early 90's they were anything but.Its frustrating to see these bands turn out commercial when in 1990 I bought Deicide's first CD and they were very satanic and serious.

Quorthon    1984!!!

Fuckin Eh Delivererofevil!!  Quorthon's Bathory were one of Black Metal's torchbearer along next to Venom and Mercyful Fate back in the early 1980's as you know.They really influenced the Norwegians in the early 1990's when Euronymous flamed up the black metal scene back then,thats for sure. I love Bathory's first 4 albums.

Although "Quarthon" of "Bathory" invinted 'viking metal"(even though I do not like any of his viking metal works)...."Rob Darken" of  "Graveland" is hands down the "master" of this genre. "Immortal Pride" 1998 is a master piece to say the least.   I do not agree with his personal National Socialist out look and philosophy by all means,but that does'nt mean that his "music" is not valid.It is amazing.A+ I give this album.

A lot of people might dismiss this band as another on the Viking Metal bandwagon, but they're actually one of the best I've come across and a probable contender for the 'most obscure language' in Färörska, (from the Faroe Islands).

As for Rata blanca, keep in mind it is only this YEAR that I think I can say that I spent more time in the States than abroad. They were extremely popular in México as well. Angeles and Rata were probably my first two latino metal bands I ever bought, now that I think about it. I always loved their dedication on Guerrero del arco iris: Dedicado a Bach, Vivaldi y Deep Purple! Yup. Sure are a great band. A bit sick in the videos at times, but the music is awesome. The only thing that I miss with them are solos.
