Please discuss impact of spirituality and "the devil" on Priest, metal and pop rock culture

We create culture and its meaning, not only objects. We cannot live without objects, like animals. They are part of our enviroment. How much you attach to the object and their symbolic meaning, power, money, etc is the problem.
Evil is what divide, destroy, pervert. Animal dont have a brain to understand that.
They cannot evaluate relations like us, they are not mother and father, cousin, boss and the like.
Evil make us see we have to anything to survive and enjoy, without feeling nothing for the rest. Evil is selfishness to the ultimate consequences. Stupids are those who think there is someone interested on buying soul, lol.
Well, meanings are dead with who have written? No. The new testament is not so fresh, the texts are related to a civilzition that is dead, too.
Genesis told the world of other times, but told the world of man's psychis. Knwoledgement equals death, end of innocent, lack of protection from the leader of the tribe.
It is enough for me. Devil and its troupe are just a bunch of nightmare for ignorants.
Good and evil too much to discuss in metal band fourm.
I love Judas Priest.
They are great musicians, relevant musicians.
Philosophy is other thing.

What is Evil to you?
What harms you and hurts you.

What is Good to you?
What protects and loves you.

Humans react just the same as animals. We just communicate differently. Our upbringing and faith in making all of these objects we are surrounded by makes us foolishly think we're better.
As we depend on objects for our very own survival when animals just rely on their physical and social skills, it makes me think we actually are devolving instead of evolving.

I don't think that in reading the Genesis you will uncover anything. The Bible is but a mere picking of writings, some like the Genesis, created centuries or a couple of millenia before. They were relevant in their time, for their very limited and specific audience. The Old Testament was to be read in an environment such as a synagogue and by people who could understand what was really being meant, and mainly, a male audience (I don't think women were allowed to learn how to read and write).

Genesis can be analized to death and you can reach any conclusion you want because the real meanings have died along with the people who wrote it. The New Testament is far more relevant, IMO.

i think that the point is that you mentioned Discovery channerl and other USA channel that manipulate the scientific knowledgement and blurred the reality:
feelings like anger, fear, etc are no thought neither reason. They react, and is their right, they need to survive. We have a brain that has evolutioned, thanks to a God/ Nature  maybe, but we are animals, with intelligence and intellegence discovers the evil. That is the nature of the sin, read the Genesis. It is quite simple to understand, we know evil now.

I agree with you, the occultism doesn't really interest me for the simple fact that it's just a bunch of excuses for whatever (birds of a feather)...but since it captivates the imagination of people and tends to play with their beliefs and ingrained prejudices, I guess it has some glamor to it....therefore so many metal bands use these outdated bronze age symbolisms on their covers.

Animals have feelings. They feel jealous, they trick you, they are happy and sad. It's that we, as humans, are losing our empathy with the natural world. Unless you handle animals on a daily basis, like on a farm, you really would think that they just act and have none of those traits we consider human.

Nature may be considered good for itself, for being the ultimate source of live, then man and woman see GOOD... Moral is attained to man. Nature is life and death, nature is considered the ruler and source of all. Evil is only human, evil is something born from withit the human soul, betrayal, greed, envy...animals have those feeling? Absurd... where is the evil in Nature? Only man tagged animal behave as good and evil and it is totally absurd. Animal dont understand, think and choose, they only act.. I know about the svastika and the fork. I know many things of the ocultism, that is the reason I am not interested in it any more ;) just be human

And what if nature is evil too?

You say God is Nature and immediately state it's inherently Good, and that the Devil is Evil. But there is plenty of "evil" in nature.

If you ever watched Discovery or National Geographic, you can see there is plenty of horror in nature and if Humans are to do some of the same things that animals do then Humans are "doing the Devil's work": raping their underlings and their young, killing them, killing others, and using their bodily fluids to mark territory. Animals also kill for the thrill, not just to eat. Animals, such as rats and rabbits, are always sexually aroused and will multiply fast and they don't care if they are humping their own kin. Wasps can implant eggs on worms and when they hatch they eat their host alive.
Yet, rabbits are the Eastern European (pagan) symbol for Easter.

If anyone pays attention to symbols, what is the pitchfork supposed to mean anyway? Or the swastika? EVIL?

Yet, both are ultimate symbols of GOOD in Asian cultures. Shiva holds a pitchfork.

There is more to talking about religion than what the tv indoctrinates you with, even if I used television channels as an example.

Well, people, humanity lost many energies and lives fighting during thousands of years for religious and political causes, that are the same. Stop this stupity, if you want peace, justice and a world where every child can grow with dignity, stop the evil inside your heart. A God who punishes, a devil who deceives, people who sold their soul to something ureal...a lot of rubbish.
One priest told my mother that God does not send anybody to hell,  God loves all people, forgives every error...that priest was removed from our church. And that idea stuck to me.
If there a God, he/she has to be tolerant enough to understand us all, we are creation of that Being. Devil is just a figure to design evil, as God is another to design the nature.
I believe in that God I mentioned, but think that most religious, satanism itself, intoxicated and divided innocent people. Metal uses symbols and are symbols that shock mediocre people. Stop ocultism and all those idiocy, I have studied that, and found a lot of old supertision. Be aware, we have to be aware that only man and woman can be God here to change the world. WAR, HUNGER, CONTAMINATION ARE FAR MORE IMPORTANT that the ignorant who rants about Priest.

Many of us don't believe in God or the Devil, many more certainly don't believe in any organized religions.  It is easy to feel like none of this video content really matters because it is art, attitude, music, energy...in a word:  METAL!  And, God, I LOVE METAL.
First, what WE believe isn't the only thing that matters.  Our lives are fleeting on this fragile biosphere and the power of belief is often stronger than the power of reality.  Even if you don't believe, basic intelligence and self-preservation (both culturally and genetically) dictate you UNDERSTAND the forces that are manipulating and controlling our prime material existence.
God and the Devil are very real if for no other reason than man believes and behaves accordingly.  Prophetic vision is often realized because we make it so.
Most of the issues and ideas discussed in this video are the issues and ideas I think about every day.  Study of the occult is essential to understanding reality.  If anyone wants to discuss specific points, I can be of assistance...from a very non-traditional perspective.
I would definately say to everyone...wake up.  I don't even know where to start so I'll make it personal.  The cultural manifestation of God that makes sense to me is the Germanic.  I think the One God (monotheism) has many names.  Give props, though, to Judaism because they are the oldest, institutionalized monothestic religion, although the origins and roots are a bit more complicated.   I can feel the honor bound culture of the Germanics (Danes, Vikes, Norse, etc.) coursing through my veins.  Honestly, it is METAL coursing through our veins.  This is why I consider Sammy Hagar's tune "Heavy Metal" to be spiritual, "Take me back...to Heavy Metal!"
Lucifer (or the mortal embodiment of) has been using archetypal colonial strategies apparently from the dawn of civilization:  Divide and Conquer - Divide and Rule.  Organized religions and their dogma are as controlled by Lucifer as are his more obvious minions.  For example, the often facist, murdering thousand years of Catholic rule (and I'm not anti-Catholic or anti-Semitic at all) forced most thinking artists, writers, scientists, philosophers into the Rosicrucians, Illuminati and Free Masons.  Many of our BEST human beings and greatest minds (many of us on this Judas Priest intra-net) are forced by an intentionally polarized society into certain paths.  Please understand the great architects are primarly concerned with social, political and economic design.  The path that I have CHOSEN says if I die in battle bravely and honorable I go to heaven.  If I do not, I go to Hel with the women and children.  Hel is originally a Nordic construct I think.  I think I've got MUCH of this figured out and NOT in the way any part of the system wants spoken.  God is the Father (often considered the sun from my ancient neolithic Aryan Sionist roots) and Hel is the Mother (mater in latin or matter), the Queen of the Underworld.  "Lucifer" does not reign in Hel, but rather on earth.
To make it even crazier, I was a self-diagnosed schizophrenic in college and am neither now at 42, meaning I'm not susceptible to voices in my head like one who hasn't been where I've been.  When something that I have to call a demon entered my throat uninvited less than 2 years ago I got truly scared for the first time in my life and called to God for help.  I was blessed because help came instantly and then I had the opportunity to actually converse with the Almighty.  I don't care if anyone believes me and nor does that matter.  I got the impression that the Almighty is cool with me (to my surprise) but, also to my surprise, truly DEMANDS HIS RESPECT.  I believe the Almighty is very open to individual and cultural expression IF you hold no God before Him.  This got wierd(er) quck but I can answer MANY MANY MANY question that this video raises.  Most importantly, please don't let the "Devil" take any of us, God will love us for who we are if we worship Him.

I'm just glad you see it as sarcastic humor because that's all it is.

My parents were very cool, thankfully! But my brothers broke them in for me, LOL! They let us listen to anything we wanted as long as it wasn't too loud. We were all good students and didn't get into trouble, so I'm sure that helped. The only time anything was said was when my dad found out that Priest was being sued. I read the lyrics to my dad and he agreed that the lawsuit was bullshit and that was that. But metal will always find a way - you proved that!! Way to stick to your guns!

I agree about Priest's lyrics - they are very powerful and they have helped me get through many hard times in my life. They have always written straight from the heart and their songs go much deeper than other bands.

Really, eh, HRMG!!!  I fought for years with my mom about metal.  I tried explaining lyrics to her, but all she heard was the crap people like Tipper Gore ranted about.  I couldn't keep any metal in the house.  I used to record stuff off the radio onto cassettes and then tape them to the back of my dresser.  When she found my Black Sabbath tapes she went bonkers!  The funny thing was that I wrote a huge paper in university on the parallels between heavy metal and late-classical period music, 16 pages including musical exerpts, and got an A+.  The reason I loved Priest so much was that they never 'sexualized' women in a demeaning way.  It was always about music, rockin' out and ridin' free!!  I love their lyrics, to me they are some, if not THE most powerful metal lyrics out there.

Me too Metalgodess!! Going to Catholic school and being a metalhead at the age of 12 was not a good combination, since I was the one they always pointed at when they talked about "devil music"! Then in high school during jean and t-shirt days, I ALWAYS wore my Priest t-shirts. Got quite the look from a lot of my teachers at first, but then they just got used to it, LOL!

As for JP and spirituality, I know that Rob is very spiritual. I'm sure the boys danced with the devil a bit during their heyday, but they never sold their soul to him. They are all good men, IMO and their musical message has always been a positive one.

It would be more fun for all of us to rap in person over a few brews!
Music is the easiest catalyst for peak human experience and performance.  I suspect different sounds and vibrations can empower us in various ways.  (Beginning to realize speaking in tongues or the drums and bagpipes before battle are all part of this hyper acuity.)  Plants apparently grow better in classical music, so why do WE need metal!?

We all change as we stroll through life.  I understand your perspective bro.  Considered myself a culturally relativistic, secular humanist most of my life, and always will be to a large degree.  But spiritual commitments and then a personal encounter with the Almight foster more personal change.  There is sooo much to discuss so I'll try to keep it simple.  I can't separate the artist from the art and hope to find the core value of a modicum of self-respect in a few artists.  Modicum of self-respect is VERY loosely defined.  I will choose to patronize those artists.  (Regarding the hawkish dialogue, pardon, its more a gauntlet being thrown at the devil's minions, a challenge from here to eternity.)

I love all music but have a special place in my heart for heavy metal and rock and roll.  I was blessed to see Judas Priest recently in Kanas City, Missouri.  They were unbelievable and are my favorite band (although honestly I need to spend more time listening to more of their work).  I felt a strong energy from and brief connection with epic frontman Rob Halford.  Honestly, if I were ever to marry again would love Judas Priest to play (ha!).  I'm 42, into history and philosophy, and have evolved my own spirituality tied closer to the Germanic honor traditions than to pacifism (sometimes say there are many names for the Almighty including Odin).  Really wanted to drag any reader through some personal info before I hit you with the question...
How do I find out which rock and rollers sold their soul to the devil or which didn't?  Rob please tell me you are above that servile minion routine!  CLEARLY the devil can't give talent, only opportunity, which makes it all about power, control and manipulation.  Divide and conquer, divide and rule.
Back in my youth the "fundamentalists" were picketing many of my favorite acts and we justified everything through artistic license, rebellious spirit and astute marketing.  Apparently we rock and rollers weren't entirely correct.  Start with a youtube of Bob Dylan sells his soul to the devil and begin to peel the onion.  The darkness is growing in confidence and all I want to know is which artists were man enough to raise hell without selling their soul to whoever thinks they are the devil.  A discussion of spirituality, theology and prophecy usually exposes these minions for the lesser creatures they are.  I also have heard that if someone did sell their soul redemption is possible.  If anyone were interested in exploring redemption further THAT would be my ABSOLUTE pleasure!
I welcome any dialogue on this ultimate subject.  Recently I've been hanging out with Christians and I love them for them and (to my surprise) they love me for me, but believe me, my perspectives are a bit different.  Importantly, we are all working for the same God, we just have to figure out our individual duty.
Love to Priest and all of you and all glory to the Almighty!.
Sincerely, Mick Simmons, Kansas City, Missouri
