Ok Hellrider and Diamond, I challenge each of you to come up with 10 Judas Priest tracks of the past that you think contain the style and swagger needed to create the next priest classic metal cd. How bout it? Ten tracks. Edited at: Friday, October 15, 2010 11:39:21 PM |

That is very good point. In that Rockline interview last week Rob said that he really liked the NASCAR race he saw, and that was why he wrote Made of Metal (the song). If he were to do anything with Judas Priest, then he can't do that because I'm sure the other songwriters (aka Glenn and KK) will have different opinions about that "sport". The only reason Halford did Winter Songs is because Rob had great memories of past Christmases and, well, wanted to write songs about it. It's not the same when he's in a band (a 40 year old one at that) that's well known for being of the godfathers of Heavy Metal. The Resurrection and Crucible days are over, IMO. That intensity will return to Judas Priest, especially now that they got to do something they always wanted to do: a concept albumm, aka Nostra. The fact that they toured playing all of British Steel instead of Nostra should be more than enough to indicate that they want to go back to recording Heavy Metal.

I've really lost all "faith" in this next LP,especially with the writting sessions when ever that may be could have Halford's solo album style mixed in with it like a left over residue, that is a possibility nobody is thinking about. Hey man don't lose faith! Look at that song The Mower Rob created for the new Halford album. That is the most brutal song Rob's ever sang on, and features some of his most intense vocals, which were recorded IN 2010. And AOR and Nostradamus? They've both got some roaring fast and screaming tracks on there. Priest will always be able to deliver the goods, the band themselves said the next album they do could be a return to the classic Priest sound after touring with British Steel so much.

The Crucible album I do like, there are a couple of tracks on that LP that I don't like, but I sure can find 8 songs I do like.
I do not like any of the Halford 3 christmas album (yuK) not even "Get Into The Spirit"....too "blah" for my tastes. I do feel 100% we will NOT be getting a new Judas Priest album in 2011. Yes they will tour like the band says, but they will find something to tour like the 30th aniversary of Screaming For Vengeance that Rob talked about,he didn't say it was etched in stone but he was talking about it. If they do that, they wouldn't even have to make an album.
I really don't think K.K. & Glenn are into making another album right now. This is why Halford is doing what he is doing. I don't blame the members for not wanting to record an album, but as a fan it is getting "old". I think in early to mid 2012 they will be ready for something, but by then all 4 members will be in thier 60's,can they crank out a Painkiller style album then? Glenn will be 64 years old in 2012?

God knows the Winter Songs album was never gonna rake in the cash, and this album is much more personal and a very valid point has been made already with regards to JD thinking that cos he doesn't like Made of Metal, the next Priest album will suck - Halford is an outlet for Rob to do things he couldn't do in Priest. Do you really think the other 4/5 of Priest would say woohoo to a nascar type song? Hell no! LOL!

I'm not saying that it will be,I'm just saying that with each passing year, and with each release with Nostradamus especially it just seems like a quality song written album isn't going to happen,I guess I'm just writting Judas Priest "off" now,I think the band is "dying".I have no faith in this next album at all, especially 2 freaking years from now as well.

Thanks Vail! Glad I made sense to someone, LOL! Yes, Rob has made it VERY clear time and time again since his return to Priest that Priest will always come first and that is all he wants to be known for. HALFORD is just his outlet for the other things he wants to do. I thought it was pretty funny when he was asked if there will be any big surprises about the Priest songs that the HALFORD band plays on this next tour and he replied that he really didn't want to do any, but his fans would kill him if he didn't do a few. He said that songs like Breakin' the Law and Living After Midnight are sacred and he felt like he was doing a tribute to himself! Personally, now that Rob is back with Priest, I want HALFORD to only play HALFORD and I want Priest to play Priest. But I have to admit, I was really happy when HALFORD played Heart of a Lion in Chicago this summer because I know Priest will never play that live!!
J.D. You can run in circles all you like as far as your opinions about the next JP album goes. I'm still of the opinion that Judas Priest will unleash a true kickass Heavy Metal album. (Quoting Message by HOT ROCKIN' METAL GODDESS from Monday, October 04, 2010 9:07:14 AM)

HALFORD is his outlet for things other than Priest. Priest would never do sports songs or 25 Years because these topics are personal to Rob. So I don't believe that anything Rob does with HALFORD has any impact whatsoever on Priest or what they will do next. Most likely, Rob is saving all the kick ass metal for the next Priest album! Unfortunately, I have to agree with you, we won't find out until 2012...... it's a LOOOONG wait. Rumor has it that Priest is touring the British Steel tour at the festivals in Europe next summer. It's not Nostra which would probably keep them out longer practicing, etc. So they will be coming off from playing one of their best albums night after night and that should inspire them to write some incredible new songs.

Seriously though J.D., don't lose faith! Priest knows EXACTLY what we want from them for the next album. The band does not "hate" the Nostradamus album, they "love it" and there may be some material on the new album that is in that style, who knows?
I'm not saying that it will be,I'm just saying that with each passing year, and with each release with Nostradamus especially it just seems like a quality song written album isn't going to happen,I guess I'm just writting Judas Priest "off" now,I think the band is "dying".I have no faith in this next album at all, especially 2 freaking years from now as well.
They are touring the British Steel tour again? Next year in 2011? Really? I mean, they toured it in 2009,2010 and now 2011? Jeezeus christ 3 years of touring "British Steel"? "WOW". Can somebody say "O.V.E.R.K.I.L.L."? Fuckin' A man,"GIVE IT A REST"!!!!
I'm happy with 2005's "Angel Of Retribution"...at least I have that album to play for years to come,at least I didn't end up with nothing from Priest since Rob joined,I have to be happy for that.

Dude, I think it goes to show that Halford makes music because he loves it, not to make a buck. Hell no! LOL! I think in early to mid 2012 they will be ready for something, but by then all 4 members will be in thier 60's,can they crank out a Painkiller style album then? Glenn will be 64 years old in 2012?

It's not Nostra which would probably keep them out longer practicing, etc. So they will be coming off from playing one of their best albums night after night and that should inspire them to write some incredible new songs. Keep the faith - the PRIEST WILL BE BACK!!

(lol!) I've flip flopped my opinions (about what kind of album will be released next) back and forth so many times since the release of Nostradamus that now I've finally come to tearms with the fact that after the release of Nostradamus with that strange material they came up with (yuk) and with the influence of the Halford 3 Winter Songs album and now the Made Of Metal album,I think that the next Priest album may have some of this residue from these 3 albums left over in it?
I've really lost all "faith" in this next LP,especially with the writting sessions when ever that may be could have Halford's solo album style mixed in with it like a left over residue, that is a possibility nobody is thinking about. I can't help but to "doubt" that the next album will be even as good as Angel Of Retribution with the songs both Priest and solo halford has been coming up with lately. I won't hold my breath for a quality new Judas Priest album but if it does turn out good then I'll eat my words, but I really am beginning to doubt it. "SIGH".

I too do not care for his solo stuff that much either. I don't like 'Fight" at all,not even one song.I don't like "Two" either,I only like 2 songs off Ressurection "Ressurection the song" and "The One You Love To Hate",all the other tracks I just don't care for. The Crucible album I do like, there are a couple of tracks on that LP that I don't like, but I sure can find 8 songs I do like.
I do not like any of the Halford 3 christmas album (yuK) not even "Get Into The Spirit"....too "blah" for my tastes. I haven't really heard all of the new album yet,but so far I do not like the song "Made Of Metal" . I guess I just don't like the band "Halford" that much.

HALFORD is his outlet for things other than Priest.
J.D. You can run in circles all you like as far as your opinions about the next JP album goes. I'm still of the opinion that Judas Priest will unleash a true kickass Heavy Metal album. [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by HOT ROCKIN' METAL GODDESS from Monday, October 04, 2010 9:07:14 AM)
