THAT is how a commentator should comment during a football game.

Speaking of game, it's almost time for the following matches:

Mexico vs. Uruguay (Go Mexico!)

South Africa vs. France (Good luck SA!)

Whatever happened to him? He was like the biggest star a few years ago, and now nothing. Doesnt even play for Brazil national team anymore.

Is that what they call him? That's a crack up. Manchester United fans used to call their former star striker Ruud Van Nistelrooy Horse Head, you can see why.

Since he had already been sent of  Kaka should have gone over and kicked him in the head. If you're gonna get sent off for nailing another player, you might as well absolutely axe the worthless bastard. Like Roy Keane did here.

I know that but I just think Woods is a class player all round and Fallon is overrated. Good in the air but thats about it. Experienced team that they are the Italians nullified him pretty easily. Don't get me wrong though, if Fallons out there I want him to do well. Would love to see him prove me wrong. I just think the fact that Fallons father is highly respected in NZ footballing circles has given him an advantage when it comes to selection over players who may be more deserving or in Woods case have the potential to go all the way. In saying that Fallon did score the goal that got NZ there so for that alone i guess it's fair that he start.

Oh, shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit....................... Portugal 5-0 N. Korea. Thats what I get for rooting for the underdogs.
[_strat_] Monday, June 21, 2010 2:48:00 AM
Five world cups? Interesting. I know that dumb Italians is only our stereotype, but they should really learn to count. They won it four times. Only Brazil did it five times. The only thing that the Italian national team won five times is the Blue Oyster bar beauty contest.

Lol... I have to work on that... Im really too biased against Italians...

But yeah, if you want stupid, Facebook, Youtube and comments on news pages are really the ultimate. If Im not much mistaken, a few Americans already want to bomb us.

Be aware, they're only very brief highlight videos LOL!
Man a couple of Italian fans going stupid on facebook, saying stuff like 'haha we won 5 world cups you'll never win any so suck my dick' and all sorts of random shit, involving very bad language, LOL!!

Ricki Herbert had to pull Fallon off today, he uses his elbows to when he jumps (as a lot of people do) but the Italians were taking full advantage of it.

Yeah, they had a whole analysis of that in the studio after the game. Looks like the Ivory Coast player simply saw a good opportunity to screw Brazil, and went for it. Unfortunately, he succeded. Then it was all that business with the rest of them. If Kakas temamates wouldnt surround him, there probably would have been his blood on the field. Nope, Ivory Coast didnt turn me on with that. Theyre playing with North Korea next, which is just as well. I wouldnt have rooted for them in any case, not after this.

Yeah that was crap, another candidate for a killing that Ivory Coast player. Shot for bringing the game into disrepute on it's biggest stage. The worst thing about football is all the diving.

I've not seen such bad acting since the LAST Stallone movie!

Honestly, that is what I (and many) really cannot stand in football. That bad acting. He runs into Kaká's shoulder with his chest and grabs his face sending Kaká out on a red?!? At least with Ice Hockey or American Football, when they are down, they have blood on the field / ice and, or broken bones! Wimps.

I'm not a Paston fan but I will admit he played well today, two good saves. He's still a bit shaky around the six yard box and punches to much but a great performance from him. Well done Paston. Thought Woods played well when he came on. I'd be playing him ahead of Fallon any day.

Yup. Shit happens.

Im still rooting for Ivory Coast, but Brazil has really made a comeback from their last game, where they really werent themselves. Really nice playing today.

As I write, the ref has overruled a goal for Ivory Coast. Not fairly either - there was never an offside. Still, it wont change much.

Hell yeah, little old NZ just held Italy to a 1-1 draw! We played so so well (mostly in defence LOL!), Mark Paston (our goalie) surely for man of the match!
[Becks] Sunday, June 20, 2010 8:36:29 AM
10 minutes to go, still 1-1, man I'm nervous.
[Becks] Sunday, June 20, 2010 7:52:51 AM
Half time, NZ 1 Italy 1. Italians like to fall over, and NZ are playing a bit too much with their hearts rather than their heads. That's something I actually love about the team, the pride in the jersey, playing full of heart, but against Italy it's costing us cos we get free kicks called against us. For nothing.
[Becks] Sunday, June 20, 2010 7:31:02 AM
Ah fuck. That was a dumb penalty, Smith shouldn't have held the guys shirt, but in saying that, he 'fell over' after he had let go of him.
Maybe I'm just a bit bitter, but it seems our guys can get knocked over and it's ok, but the Italians will go down with even the hairs breadth of a touch of nothing, and get a free kick.
Edited at: Sunday, June 20, 2010 7:31:35 AM
[Becks] Sunday, June 20, 2010 7:15:53 AM
Now the commentator is reckoning our goal was possibly offside cos the touch after the kick 'might' have come off one of our players. I didn't see that I thought it came off the Italian dude.

I've seen that movie!!! It's a crack up. Sly in goal. When was that made? Late 70s, early 80s. Snortiego would have been to busy with cocaine and prostitutes then ( and football ).

Stallone, Max Von Sydow, Michael Caine and, yes, Pelé.

I recognise some of the names, Beckenbauer, Cryuff, Eusabio, Charlton, Zidane and Maradona but the only ones I've seen play are Maradona and Zidane. Maradona was really fat, at one stage he got to over 100kg, ( 225lbs ). A lot of weight on a short guy.    [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by guidogodoy from Saturday, June 19, 2010 7:46:50 PM)

Exactly why I said that no further comment is necessary. We are obviously speaking on two different wavelengths and I could easily ask what are YOU going on about. You stated that Maradona was the greatest ever and I simply counter that it all depends on your frame of reference. You can't comment on something because you haven't "seen" it? Ok. I simply extrapolate that theory into other realms. Were that to hold true, one couldn't comment on most topics.

Enough. I said all along that I think Brasil has a weak team this time around and that my pick has been Spain. That said, just for you. Maracaná stadium in Rio has a tribute to all the greats of football. Their footprints are set in cement at the entrance (Maradona was a fat guy based on the depth of the impression) and I paid due homage to him and other greats by standing in them.

Down in the lockerroom that leads to the pitch, there are pictures of ALL the greats of the game who were not from Brasil. You may recognize some names. Others must not merit comment.

[jimmyjames] Saturday, June 19, 2010 6:41:09 PM
I didn't bring up Pele, you did. I didn't dispute anything you said. What are you going on about? So your on the Brazil bandwagon, that's great. I hope they do well for you. What is your point exactly? Gaping hole in the logic of not wanting to comment on a player I haven't seen? You're insinuating that that is some kind of cop out. Using your Led Zep example, if someone was to say "I think Led Zep is the best band ever." and I said " I've never heard them, I can't say." What's wrong with that?   [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by guidogodoy from Saturday, June 19, 2010 4:30:20 PM) Edited at: Saturday, June 19, 2010 6:47:35 PM

[guidogodoy] Saturday, June 19, 2010 4:30:20 PM
Ah yes, but that goes back to the old adage of "the lack of being able to make a comment is still a comment in and of itself."

No need for further comment (or lack thereof), I just find a gaping hole in such spurious logic. Not having "seen" makes one unable to comment. It all depends on your frame of reference. Ask a youngster nowadays as to who is the better singer: Madonna or Lady GaGa. Back when the FIFA vote of "player of the century" came around, the people were going for Maradona because he was fresher in the minds of those who didn't know much about Pelé. They figured out quickly that their sampling would be skewed due to the age of the respondants. It is just common sense. Which war had the greatest impact? Trojan, 1000 years, WWI or Iraq? Well, I didn't live through the first three. Would any comment I make about them be any less valid or should I just claim the inability to judge because there were no "imbedded journalists" in the first three?   [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by jimmyjames from Saturday, June 19, 2010 3:42:13 PM)
