Who else likes the Red Wings here and can't seem to stay away from emoticons (and GIANT CAPS?).

Oh yeah, the temp is a pleasant 72F here with full sunshine.

None taken but then....is Judas Priest anti-women then?

If he is good at his chosen profession then it's good for him.

Despite all that reading, he didn't learn anything or perhaps he has a phobia of women...?
Now, if he said he doesn't like paperback romance writers like Jackie Collins, then I would give the guy some kudos. But what is wrong with Emily Dickinson, Mary Shelley or Virginia Woolf?

Ok, I do remember that the Lions went 0-16 last year, maybe they will do better this year.
[Jeanine] Monday, September 07, 2009 4:37:43 PM
I am a Packers or maybe a Brett Favre fan, so I am actually cheering on the Vikings this season. I know some will call me a traitor and that is ok. I actualy cannot cheer for the Pack until Ted Thompson leaves the team. I am actually not here to talk about the Packers or Vikings or even Brett Favre. I saw this article today and thought it was pretty cool. I don't know much about the current Lions team and maybe this was posted here before but I thought I'd post it anyway: (also not sure about that whole woman comment)

Jim Schwartz prefers a Judas Priest CD to any book by a woman

I appreciate it when an athlete or a coach is willing to open up about his personal life. We get too many standard quotes and pat answers. I'm interested in knowing the little details of a public figure's life, as you might have gathered from the standard questions I ask when interviewing someone.

Detroit Lions head coach Jim Schwartz, as it turns out, is extremely comfortable talking about that sort of thing. Among the personal tidbits he revealed to the Associated Press:

• He listens to Judas Priest and Iron Maiden
• He has a flame tattoo just above his right ankle
• He is, or at least used to be, an avid reader, plowing through 500+ pages a day
• He doesn't read books by women

Thanks for the chat Uncle Guids : )  I must get back to the scullery - lol  Keep me posted about that Summer villa!

Yes, he and dear wife, Steffi. Did a big charity event that generated I don't know how much $ for each's charities / tennis clinics.

That was more an offshoot of the French Open a few weeks back, though, if I recall. Same thing she is describing, though, as the two events are always pretty back-to-back. Pre-US = Post = R.G. Same thing.

I love Agassi. I was in Vegas when they closed that sports bar next to the MGM where they had a lot of his stuff (shirts, etc...what what the name of that place Freeze?).

My aunt had me go in and grab ANYTHING as they pretty much closed when I was there in 2000 on New Year's Eve (looking for that bomber!). I think I have some matches upstairs. VERY last night.   [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by Bev from Sunday, September 06, 2009 5:12:34 PM)

HAAAA!!!! I MUST meet your Mum some day, Auntie B. Woman after my own heart. Only such a person would understand my heartbreak at having to travel to Québec when the damn Federer / Roddick final was on in R.G. Greatest match in history and I miss it as I was literally in the air going to a layover in Chicago. Saw the speech was all in an airport sportsbar.

Becks! Tennis fan! Yea! Flooding out of the woodwork like venemous spiders! Hurrah! Yup. All the seeds seem to have big Xs on their backs.

... 'tis why you've not read from me on this topic as Mom is glued to the tube!!! lol  She's come up for air once this week and only after I called 'cause I hadn't heard from her.  Then she explained, "US Open is on.  I'll talk to you when it's over."  You see now how far down her priority list I rank, even the talk gets his walk!

I couldn't find a place to post this as it is not Pro sports, but one of the greatest crosstown rivalry's in High School sports in the U.S. kicks off tonight. The Graham G-Men vs. the Bluefield Beavers. This Game has been played consistently each year since 1911, with annual attendance usually being around 12,000 people. You should see the stadium this rivaly has built, pretty impressive place.
As a Graham Alumni, the only reason I am not at it is I get off work too late for the preshow tailgating. I think next year, I'll take off early. Will be listening for the final score though, I of course hope Graham stops the shit out of Beaver, but one can only hope. Beaver is a much larger School than Graham and well, when we win! It's good chances we will make it to at least state play offs that year.
So, GO GRAHAM!!!!
[J.D. DIAMOND] Thursday, August 20, 2009 4:16:32 AM

Yeah I was irritated about him not making up his mind and got tired of hearing about him..ect..but even I am excited that Brett has decided to play!!!!!

He couldn't let it go man.....I think he tried but wasn't able to give it up just yet....I think with Adrian Peterson running the ball it will open up play action for Favre.....

JUST WATCHED SOME OF THE PRESS CONFERENCE WITH PHILADELPHIA EAGLES OWNER JEFFREY LURIE ON THE VICK SIGNING...MUST SAY AM IMPRESSED WITH HIS APPROACH ON ADDRESSING THE SERIOUSNESS OF THE CRIMES VICK COMMITED...NOT SUGAR-COATING IT OR TRYING TO DOWNPLAY THE SITUATION...ON DESCRIBING VICK'S ACTIVITIES AS "CRIMINALLY" & "MURDEROUSLY"...ALSO STATING THAT VICK MUST BE PROACTIVE IN ADDRESSING THE HEINOUS ACTIVITY OF DOGFIGHTING THAT GOES ON IN MANY CITIES AND COMMUNITIES ACROSS THE U.S., OR HE WILL NOT BE ON THE TEAM...WELL DONE MR. LURIE  ... AS FOR THE SPORTS ASPECT OF THE SIGNING,PROBABLY A LOGICAL PLACE,DUE TO WHERE McNABB IS IN HIS CAREER,BUT THIS WHOLE 'VICK' HOOPLA IS QUITE OVERBLOWN IN MY OPINION.

Grabow, 29, is 3-0 with a 3.42 ERA in 45 relief appearances this season. Gorzelanny, 27, was 3-1 with a 5.19 ERA in nine relief appearances with the Pirates before being optioned to AAA Indianapolis, where he has gone 4-3 with a 2.48 ERA in 15 starts.

Today in the Tour De France Jens Voigt (german rider for Saxobank) had what I think is the most horrific accident that I've seen.
He crashed going 80 km an hour on a mountain decent. He's got severe injuries. Head, neck, arm and face (he has just been stabalized and still needs to be scanned to see the extent of his injuries)

I thought I was going to throw up when I saw him go down. Truly a horrific injury. This could either take his life or end his career. I'm praying for him. He is one of the good ones. Nobody should go out like this.

I still cannot beleive that Arturo Gatti has died... exactly he was murdered. He was one of my favourite boxers, true warrior, fought with passion and brave. If he was knocked down he always got up and didn't surrender... He was the quintessence of valour and honour - a real boxer, real spectacular person! He has took part in four "fights of the year", and many of his fights were also very great and very interesting, he has several WBC and IBF champion belts and three unbelievable fights against Mickey Ward. But now he's gone... 37 years old... RIP.
Sorry that I posted it here, just haven't found needed thread. Everyone who likes professional boxing must knows this great guy and remember him.

Well, I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time staying with my mother, sister and her two young boys who "just can't wait to meet Unkie Freeze." I told them that you just LOVE to give airplane rides and that you are big like a tree so they can scale you to swing from your arms. Oh yes, being my relatives, you can guess that they have the tendency to get a bit hyper.

I'll be sure to "wind them up" for you right before I leave for the hotel.
