15 years old, compared to 25 years old? Those last few years might make the difference. But then again maybe you just take immaculate care of your stuff and I just took for granted it would work.

It's a vinyl! So sadly my stereo grows more weary by the day. I sounds awful anymore. The speakers craker when you move the volume and in general I would not call it a healthy sound system. More like it has pneumonia.
