Haaa! Here in TN, trying to find out how they treated a telephone pole "back in the day" would certainly get a raised eyebrow or three. LOL!!!! Almost like when I once asked where the recycle bins were in this city.
No worries, not cooking those poles, just a sittin' on 'em. Wait, that should probably be "a settin' on em." Come on, someone, native help is needed! I am clearly a transplant from the north. [Show/Hide Quoted Message](Quoting Message by Where AmI from Friday, July 04, 2008 8:10:58 PM)

Really tired, actually. It is a 24+ hour commute. Finished in about 2 hours. Had a connection to make in Houston today and just about asked for a wheelchair to get me there. Wouldn't have mattered. Still missed the connection. LOONG flight but home just the same.

I know this is a little late, but quite frankly that's assault. A human bite is one of the nastiest things on the planet and quite frankly the chance of infection is high. My son was actually suspended for a day for fighting in the first grade ( 6 yrs old ) It wasn't really a fight, but rules are rules. He got physical and he was suspended. What you are talking about is grounds for a lawsuit. Directed at both the parents and the school. [Show/Hide Quoted Message](Quoting Message by joedraper from Wednesday, June 25, 2008 11:25:06 AM)

Then, yesterday when I went to pick up my children from playschool, I was met at the gate by the teacher who told me Zoey had been involved in an 'incident'.
So calmly I enquired about what had happened. I was told that a little boy had cornered Zoey and bit her. So I figured, the perp is probably a three year old, how bad can it be? I see my daughter from one side and she's acting normal and doesn't seem at all traumatized. Then she turns around and I see her cheek. Her whole cheek is covered in a fecking nasty bite. I got to school this morning and they at least said that the perps mother feels terrible about what happened. Maybe I'm being mellodramatic here but if it was my son who'd bitten another child, I'd have asked for the victims phone number and at least called to apologize or find out if the other kid was ok. The wound is open as well as bruised. I've been disinfecting it so I don't think it'll get infected but I hope that it doesn't leave a scar. Any advice on what I should do? if infact I can do anything about this?

I'm finally calming down after Zoey's attack at school. She doesn't seem at all traumatized and the wound is healing so quickly that it looks like she'll be spared a scar. The doctor advised some tissue oil to put on to further prevent scaring and she should be right as rain.
So I guess that means my life is returning to normal although I do wish I'd caused more of a scene about it at the school. I do feel like I didn't stand up for her or protect her enough but that's just something I'll have to deal with in my own time. The important thing is that the kids are now separated at school and more observation is being made. I'm still pretty angry that the other parent has not bothered to contact me to find out if my child is ok but since my children are going to a different school in January I'm not going to kick up a fuss. Heaven help them if she comes home with the slightest sign of a mark on her body ever again though.
Thank you for all the advice and for letting me vent off how I was feeling during a really shite time. Thank you for keeping me sane through this.

OMG, thank gawd it's Friday!
My local fair opened up last night, and openeing night is "dollar night". Everything from parking to food is a dollar each. Last year it was downright bearable and not really crowded.
Well...not the case this year. There were so many people you could barely move. Seriously. 2 hours there and all I did was play 2 games (won though) and watched pig races (yes pig races) and bought 25 dollars in Candy.
I'm giving Dollar night the middle finger and going again when you have to pay up the whazoo for everything. Then no one will be there. At least I will enjoy myself.
AND to top it off the Freak Show last year toured with this guy who claimed to be a munchkin in the Wizard of Oz (prolly not-who cares) and he would eat fire and nail things into his face and HE DIED!!!!!!!!!! DAMNIT!!!

Apparently the folks at the school and the parents of the other child are gutless cowards and slimy dipshits. The mother of the other kid should pay for the rabies shot, since the puppy who bit your kid is in daily contact with that bitch. I would really want to know what the people at the playschool are doing that don't keep an eye out for 2 and 3 year old kids. I hope your baby recovers nicely but make sure that medical bills are taken care of by the parents of the kid responsible. My 5 cents. Wow, I would be upset as well. K2M is right. A Human bite can be very easily infected. I would take her to the Dr. and they may put her on an antibiotic (just in case) For scaring once it is scabbed Mederma works wonders and also Dr.s can prescibe an even better topical treatment. I would definantly want to know if this child who bit her has a history at the playschoool of acting out.
One good thing is the face is the fastest healing flesh on the body and it usually takes alot to permanently scar it.
Hope things go better for you and your child. [Show/Hide Quoted Message](Quoting Message by joedraper from Wednesday, June 25, 2008 11:25:06 AM)

I would try everything possible to keep the cheek from scaring. I would establishe contact with the Perps Folks. Phone number, address. I would take my baby to the doctor and have the perps parents pay for any extra care involved. Bacteria is a major concern now. Seek doctor soon. Scars are forever. Try and stay calm and organize your plan of action. At some point let it out. I would be fucking Pissed. So let it out some where. What about the school. Just take care that you baby gets the immediate care to over come the initial injuries. [Show/Hide Quoted Message](Quoting Message by joedraper from Wednesday, June 25, 2008 11:25:06 AM)

You may want to rethink that, although your cost of living is far less than L.A. My guys pay their own gas and make about $200 a day. Unfortunately, gas is about $4.60 a gallon here so it goes pretty fast unless you are working in a very condensed area. Free pizza does go a long way though !

Megan's growing like a weed...much too fast for my likes. She's picking up about 3 words a day now. Not doing sentences yet. She wanted to walk before she crawled, and now is running before she can really walk with good balance. So alot of falling. Lisa (my wife) is weening her from the breast, and looking for a job, and I myself am busy running our online store, selling stuff on Ebay, and about to get a job as well.
That's about all I'll share out here. Busy with other stuff, and it's almost too much to handle. There's just not enough time in a day, and I can't go 24/7 like when I was younger.

I've submitted a few applications at certain stores...hopefully I'll get a call soon. I've got my fingers crossed...

You may want to rethink that, although your cost of living is far less than L.A. My guys pay their own gas and make about $200 a day. Unfortunately, gas is about $4.60 a gallon here so it goes pretty fast unless you are working in a very condensed area. Free pizza does go a long way though !
