Thanks, everyone! Although you all would have laughed seeing me throw that water at the nest and then run to the door screaming for life.

Now that the black and yellow menace has moved on, I can breathe easy. Whew.
[spapad] Tuesday, July 27, 2010 3:27:40 PM
Excellent News! Glad you didn't get stung.
I had yellow jackets build a next in my bathroom fan vent and didn't relize it until one day when I steped out of the shower there were about six bees in the bathroom with me! I'm terified of bees, since when they sting me I swell up like a balloon! I made my nephew come over and spray the bees in the bathroom, and then I got the long range spray and sprayed the vent from the outside. You couldn't have paid me enough to crawl up on the roof to throw anything at them. lol

Part 2 of the...erm... Yellow Jacket Wars. Now the nest has been completely destroyed...and it's all thanks to hot, boiling water (even though I chickened out a few times before actually throwing that water and then bringing it down with a broom). After that the black and yellow menace gave up and moved on to other places.

The End. Now who wants some dead Yellow Jacket grubs? They look like maggots.

WHAT? You mean my neighbor next door lied to me all this time? Damn. Oh, well...

Acolyte. The nest isn't that big (half the size of a fist now that I knocked some of it down), so a bomb isn't necessary. I decided to go with my mom's suggestion of throwing boiling water to it to finish it off. Now that classes are done for the day, I'll give it a go. Wish me luck. The battle is not yet over.

Vail, if they are yellow and black, you don't have wasps. YOU have yellow jackets which can be agressive and mean on the sting side. Buy some heavy duty spray before they pay you back!! My humble suggestion.

It wont come out as long as there is activity in the house, but I can not stay up forever, and niether can Lucy. We are both looking to kill it. She wants it gone as much as I do. It's times like these I wish I could have my former dogs. Max, would kill it straight out, and so would Bella. They were both Cattledogs and afraid of nothing. Poor Lucy heard the rat this morning in the kitchen, she stalked, and actually made it take a few tracks back before it disappeared, and when she came back to me I could tell she was afraid. So, Kudos for her being brave in the face of advercity but she was truely scared. Poor kid.

The rats didn't come back either ever since we put on that chalk (and left it on), so there must be something in that chalk that's keeping them away.

Actually, I heard about this one town in Nevada that plays Hard Rock music on full blast to scare locusts away. You never know. Maybe it will work on that rat, too.

Ooohhhh... okay. We had our dog outside, so we didn't have to worry about setting those traps. After a couple of days we caught the remaining rats.

As for the chalk...here ya go! Be careful, though. According to the EPA, it's illegal to use and not exactly safe. But if you really want them, just find a bargain store owned by Chinese people...or buy them online.

That's what I did with the glue traps in Flora's room, but I can't put traps out in the kitchen because Lucy would be in danger from them too. This makes killing the big fat menace a little more difficult.  I would like to know what that miracle chalk was though.

It came in a long box and, like I just mentioned, it had Chinese lettering and a picture of a roach on it. We found it in a 99 cents store. I'll try to find info on it, though. For the rats, we also placed glue traps around the microwave and the stove (where there would most likely be crumbs) and added some pieces of actual food with rat poison placed inside of it. Good luck.

I know all about roaches. The City of Richmond, VA is full of them in the old parts. No matter how much my roomie and I bombed the place with chemicals they still came. I you could have seen the garbage cans for our apartment you would puke. The roaches were so prevalent, that our way of throwning out the trash was to have one of us go down to the trash cans with a broom, open it, and then stand back while the other threw the trash from the second floor into the bin. The bin was completely covered in roaches and you really didn't want to touch them. Gross, gives me chills to this day to think about how many were around.

Pissing me off, or scaring the hell out of me?? Two days ago a rat moved into my daughter's bed room. I've brought every rat trapping object to our defense and yet still, the big bastard is not dead yet. Got glue traps today to add to the mayhem, and loaded the foundation with poison.  I hope it dies or gets caught soon.  It's big, it's loud, and it hisses at times, strangely enough, it makes a noise like a dog shaking off water on occasion. I hate this demon.  My dog is afraid of it. I sent Flora to stay with her grandfather until this menace if removed from my home. Just in case I bought an old fashioned heavy broom so I don't have to worry about swinging it full force if I happen to stumble upon it on it's little trips to the kitchen, which it may as well give up on since I don't have a scrape for it to eat! Bastard Rat! I can't wait til he's dead so I can disinfect the entire house!

Well first off "black metal" is dead and has been for the last 10 years. The only worthy bands in bblack metal are the bands that came out before the year 2000.And only a small selective bands are even worthy at that.Nobody hails them as "evil" except nowaday losers. I remember back in 93' buying a few cds,at least they were doing something different and it wasn't a trend,at that time death metal was the trend and black metal was hidden, you couldn't find hardly anybody who liked this music back then.Nowadays "fuck black metal".

Yeah I get what your saying don't get me wrong, but Iron Maiden on stage just looks "dull".  Of course I wouldn't want them to sport spandex lofl! How about black boots, dark black normal fit levi jeans, blacks metal-orianated shirts and black leather jackets ect... it doesn't even have to be spikes or studs,at least "Janic Gers" looks heavy metal, hes just irritating to watch ha!  Its just with the look of Bruce with the baggy pants and the beanie Beatie Boy-like cap he wears and with Steve wearing a soccer....(sorry....."football") jersey sometimes it just looks dull and to top it off with the band's "nu" sound they have created with Somewhere In Time all the way up to El Dorado and The Final Frontier track so far.

It all lacks vintage "pure" Iron Maiden. With Angel Of Retribution and songs like Judas Rising,Deal With The Devil,Demonizer,Eulegy,Hellrider,Wheels Of Fire  sounds like something that could match up to any tracks off of Screaming For Vengeance or Defenders Of The Faith and even Worth Fighting For sounds something like Desert Plains, like the album or not it sounds like classic Judas Priest and in my opinion is the band's 5th best LP. But Maiden doesn't have 1 album that can even come close to Powerslave or of course anything before it and thats unacceptable for me.

J.D., I'm fine wih everything you said there apart from 'Image means everything', because I'm not sure you meant it as fully as you wrote- what about all the so-called Black Metal bands that wear the spikes and paint and are musically shite, but are still considered 'evil' just for their image? I guess its best to have the image and the music, but surely the music is everything, image is secondary to that.

(Its also a view I disagree with because its an increasing trend in this country for some metalheads to look down on or even abuse others who don't 'wear the uniform' regardless of musical taste, as if the image were the most important thing, and that there can be no variety. If there is no variety in image, then there would probably be less variety in the music. Not to mention its the kind of behaviour that reinforces a negative view of the metal community. I know you would never think or act like that, but it is a view that can be twisted round and taken in a bad way)

I realise that was going off the point and has nothing to do with Maiden, and yes, sometimes I do think Bruce could make more of an effort, he looked cool when I saw them in 08, but at Download in 07 he have just in baggy black and trainers, it did look a tad naff, but looking back over some older pictures of him, he always dressed a bit-- naff. Sure, there were spikes and chains, but also yellow spandex and long socks. In fact, barring around the time of Fear of the Dark, I have never seen pictures of him in full leather. And the rest of the band only seemed to wear the spandex, not the chains etc. I would rather see them dressing the way they do now than in said 80s spandex, (especially now they are all over 50) and the other five guys still have the long hair, they aren't totally un-metal looking.
[Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by J.D. DIAMOND from Thursday, July 22, 2010 1:35:28 AM)
[J.D. DIAMOND] Thursday, July 22, 2010 1:35:28 AM
LOL!  Well its just an opinion, but both albums have 2 songs that are of less quality,"The Dullists" and "Back In The Village" and on Retribution "Revolution" and "Lochness" but all other tracks on Angel Of Retribution top those of Powerslave by a couple of yards like Judas Rising,Demonizer and Hellrider...those 3 songs alone top any track on Powerslave but I'm sure not here to convince you of that, both are great albums but I'm just giving credit where credit is due! LOL!

And the beanie rap boy hat that Bruce wears spanks big time. The baggy pants are crappy and shows that Bruce doesn't have as much passion for heavy metal that Rob Halford does or many other "metal" artists for that matter. Look at Dio,he never sported spikes, but he always had a medieval image, mystical with some studs ect...he always looked "metal" while Bruce used to support this image to a point.

Take a look at the band photo in the CD booklet of "A Matter Of Life And Death" as Bruce is wearing blue jeans and a green or grey shirt with some random logo on it,it looks like he was outside mowing the yard,a far cry from an image he used to support with studs and spikes ect.... It just shows me that the band is lazy and are not giving the fans 100%. Thats why I've always hailed Rob Halford,he always looks metal where it counts.

Rob wears normal cloths but not on stage or in CD booklets like Bruce and Maiden does. Don't get me wrong,if Maiden were decked out in full spikes ect...it wouldn't change my opinions of the music because the music is the most important but it makes the listener wonder if Maiden never astrayed away from studs and spikes,black/leather ect...what would thier mind-set and attitude be like all these years? Maybe they would of been making albums like "The Number Of The Beast or Piece Of Mind perhaps? Image means everything in the realm of heavy metal and like thier music,Iron Maiden have again come up short.

What did you expect him to say? That he thinks he's better than Rob? lol. I agree there are things Rob can do that Bruce cant. There are also things Bruce can do that Rob can't so it works both ways. See what I'm saying?  Yes Dio is awesome and almost had him tied with Bruce but not quite. .....I don't know, their close.
