I would bet you Jay Leno could have done a Jay walk, just showing the idiots on the street his photo and at LEAST 60% percent would have known who he was. For a Jay walk show, that's Icon status!

It looks like an amazing show guido, but is it enough to elevate Ed to icon status?

Star Search 1983-95 McMahon was the host. Brittany and Justin were among the young stars to appear! Man, you guys don't know what you missed....

I think Elvis would get a day before him and it has not happened yet, thank God, so I think Mikey Boy's chances of getting a day are zilche. Maybe he'll get a stamp 40 years from now when everyone forgot about his past.
Did you know, you have to be dead in order to have anything named after you officially. That way they know you can't sully your "good name" any further. LOL

Gesh when was Star Search???? Mid 80's early 90's??? It was a long time ago  LOL

They had everything on that show, modeling, dancing, singing, ect... Kinda a americas got talent, dance with the stars, the worlds next top model all rolled into one show.
[jimmyjames] Thursday, June 25, 2009 6:58:55 PM

Didn't get Star Search over here. I'm guessing that's a 70s version of Americas got talent?

Elvis was only 42 when he died, Bruce Lee only 33, Kurt Cobain 27, James Dean 24. The price you pay for being an icon. MJ didn't do to badly.
[spapad] Thursday, June 25, 2009 6:39:58 PM
Not like that in comparison. Death most always comes in threes in the community of the famous. And in healthcare settings very often.

You can hardly put Ed McMahon up there with MJ. MJ is an icon of music and one of the most popular artists in history. Ed McMahon co-hosted TVs Bloopers and Practical Jokes. Lets get some perspective here.
[~ MG_Metalgoddess~] Thursday, June 25, 2009 6:35:25 PM
Well He was reported to be in a coma, maybe they are waiting for family to arrive so they can Take him Off life support.

[spapad] Thursday, June 25, 2009 6:34:46 PM

When I was a child, I love the Jackson five, and thought the world of Michael Jackson, as he came back in his latter years and became so famous, I may  not have liked the music but I did respect his genious, I thought Thriller was one of the best videos ever made and really stepped up what people expected from video. Then the fame died down a bit he built his disney land to live in and just got freakishly white and weird. Like you said MG, so much talent gone to waste with a sickened mind.
[Vaillant 3.0] Thursday, June 25, 2009 6:24:06 PM
HA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'll take the train to L.A and confirm with my own eyes and ears whether or not he kicked the bucket!!

The national media has yet to confirm, I'm not sure what the local media has that they don't...

Definately a man with different lives...all through the 80's he could do no wrong...but the 90's is a totally different Jackson...

I've never been a fan of his, but I respected his talent...
[Becks] Thursday, June 25, 2009 6:14:41 PM
I agree MG. He was very talented, his music brought millions joy, but his personal life rubbish............hmmm..............

Hmm How sad for his family.....  I personally did not care for the man himself... He was talented, and could have done so much more..  But his behaivor, was a little out of line.
