I never really got into playing other people's songs.  I did the cover thing when I was in high school, but after that it was all about creating to me.  I would concentrate on developing your dexterity.  After that, to me, it's about taking the essence of your favorite players.  Not necessarily copying them.  You might be surprised at how good your own music can be since it will always mean more to you than someone elses expressions of themselves.

Hey, Paper. The rest of the videos should be in the menu on the right. Youtube links related videos in that column. You might want to register at ultimateguitar.com, they have a lot of information for beginers..

Of course, there are a lot of good people here to point you in other beneficial directions...

Thanks for the link. Is there a part 2? I'd like to learn the rest of the song. The original tabs looks too hard (barre chords). I downloaded the power tab file from ultimate-guitar.com and it sounds a little funny.

I heard oldies are really easy?

Seriously, I gotta call some serious BS on this one. ESP is a friggin HUGE company with almost limitless production capabilities. It's not like they have Tibetan Monks chewing the body out of a solid tree in the Himalayas...

I would surmise that someone seriously dropped the ball or your dealer has credit issues with their supplier....

No, but I am about to go out for errands and one stop is the store where I ordered it from. I`m getting some answers or a refund of my deposit. Enough is enough allready!!   Oh , when I called them yesterday, they tell me my rep was at the guitar show!!!!! hopefully getting me a Lynch autograph!!

On another note
As I sit here, it`s the 16th . It has now been two months since I have ordered my guitar. I am awaiting a call back today for an update as I was told tomorrow would be the day it arrives!
The pisser is this, the Greater Southwest guitar show is in town today thru Sunday. And of all people scheduled to play..........GEORGE LYNCH...!!!!!!!
Would be damn nice to have a replica of his to get an autograph on!!!!

The Floyd`s are a pain in the ass for sure. Tuning them after changing strings is a lesson in patience.
If you`re going to get a custom shop Jackson, go ahead and get the Kahler. they have more  adjustability and are easier to set-up and use.
I`m addicted to the Floyds myself, but after all thses years, I`ve learned a trick or two about them.
Ibanez has a couple of better versions of a Floyd and they work beautifully!!

Floyds are still good if you get an Origonal Floyd, a lot of the modern musicians don't like them because setting them up for low tunings is a real pain. Kahlers are another option to consider, but you will have to have a Floyd type nut installed.

Oh, one of the biggest issues with the Floyd seems to be the sustain block. A few of the people I know who have them have ordered a brass replacement for it and all of them say it makes a WORLD of difference tonally...

Okay I need some opinions on this since I'm eventually gonna get a custom built King V someday.

What is a good tremolo system to get? I always hear Floyd's suck dick now, and all sorts of others are better. I haven't got a clue. Anyone wanna PM me or just post it here?

Nah, really doubt that...no one seems to believe me. I suck at it! LOL.

I have owned guitars for years but consider myself a collector.

I also appreciate the advice. While I still absolutely stink, I'll take any and all advice I can get as I "plink around" with my two powerchords. LOL!

Have to admit that I grip that sucker with a clench that would rival that of a WWF pro.
[guitardude] Wednesday, April 15, 2009 4:36:52 PM
Good advice SDB, relaxing is critical. I used to catch myself with a death grip on the neck and would use way to much pressure while fretting.
To break myself of this I forced myself to play without putting my thumb behind the neck.
I would place my thumb along side my index finger.
The cramps this caused were horrendous, but it helped me learn to relax and use a lighter touch.

Seriously... PRACTICE. PRACTICE. PRACTICE some more. The more you play, the better your dexterity will get. Make sure your hands are relaxed, squeezing too hard will give you major problems...

Hi guys! I am (still) a beginner guitar player and would like to play something someday.  What is the easiest song in the entire world that a complete idiot can play? To date, I am completely stumped by Iron Man, Crazy Train, Sweet Child of Mine and Smells Like Teen Spirit. Maybe I need to trade the V in for a drum set?
