I would love to see Nostradamus live in it's entirety! Excellent cd and some good variety in there too. Although, I hate to admit it, I don't think it would be as big a draw as Priest playing their older stuff. Lots of people I talked to prior to their show here this summer, were only interested in hearing the old stuff. I wouldn't be surprised to see them play select cities for a short tour of Nostra. I hope they use a map and pick cities that are accessible for most of us. We do have one of the newest arenas..Something to think about fellas! Great sound here and we're central... |

of course, that it is too boring to ask a band who play songs they did twenty years ago that makes you tired and bored and ultimately will decay |

Apparently they're getting their current tour out of the way then planning on doing Nostra as a full stage show later, they're wanting lots of planning time to create one awesome show, thats what I've heard anyway. Hope its true and good luck to 'em. I hope they kick ass. Personaly I can't wait. [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by Keyd from Monday, September 08, 2008 3:59:05 AM) | | Keyd wrote: | | After seeing the "classsics" many times I would definitely most want to see Nostradamus performed in it's entirety. There will probably be quite a few more tours where they can play the "favorites". It would be great to see the whole album plus an encore (not the usual but possibly "Painkiller" or maybe a few more obscure songs). The last setlist was quite cool and "Prophecy" was really great but it made me want to see more of the new album and see it soon, live.
Originally I thought this was the plan for the band to play the entire album on tour. Does anyone know if this is still going to happen? Possibly 2009? Maybe they are just letting the listeners absorb the material because it is so complex. Does anyone have any more info about this? Obviously I am really enjoying the new album.

I could definately see Rob as santa.... bringing us all metal gifts from the gods...new vinyls from our fave bands, new t-shirts, dvd's etc, and of course some re-vamped xmas carols... hehehe "Jingle bells... jingle bells.. jingle all the way, oh what fun it is to headband along in a one band open concert... HEY!"
Funny story... my Mum still has an xmas card from her boyfriend who was Priest mad back in the early 80's//// the card read... "Have a black xmas.... Judas Priest rules the world...!! " True story,... funny to think this happened before i was born.
Now if Rob was santa, i would not mind sitting on his knee and telling him what i wanted for christmas.... tehehe [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by caronctm from Thursday, October 09, 2008 11:51:41 PM) | | caronctm wrote: | | OMG! you made me LOL!! Man if it's Priest feast they only play 3 songs off it.... GO!!! they play heaps of classic Priest i know you'll love. I saw heaps of people trying to palm off their tix to the Australian shows.. can not understand why....?? They wont do all of Nostradamus live without warning us. The band knows we can stand and headbang to that entire album.... you will be mighty regretful if you dont take this opportunity.
And i will add, it did take me a few attempts to listen to all of the album... it was a struggle in some parts listening to them play such slow music.. but i had to be persistent with it. I will say though i still prefer to put Defenders or Vengeance in the cd player and crank that. One has to be in the right mood to play Nostradamus. Yes I do, because it would be sthg completely new and different for JP. It doesn't matter that the show will be visited by not so many people as usual, Nostradamus is to be performed in a big opera hall, not in an open air area and this album is not for everyone. I'd love to see it in a live show. |

That remark about the audience was tongue in cheek anyway. I'm not a fan of Nostrdamus -so I obviously wouldn't wanna here it all live.
AMOLAD in my opinion one of Maiden's best ever releases, but there is no way I'm forcing myself to like it. However, I still think they shouldn't have played it all during that tour.

Agree with all you say there, John.
Sad to say, the scene here in Canada is pretty much the same -- except we have better wannabe singers! lol...
One thing about "Nostradamus" that I think is a credit to the integrity & honesty of Judas Priest, is this...
I think "Nostradamus" was created out of pure love (and talent) and their belief in something they wanted to do.
It was not written for the love of money. There is nothing commercial about it. In essence, they didn't sell-out. That's what makes it beautiful. And one of them was Dawn of Creation, 2:31 long? No Death due to noise curfew! And you gotta play the classics for those who only whish to hear them? Never understood that, if your a BIG fan of the bands music, you should like most of the music they have created. Give me something B-side any day over Living After Midnight anyday. But that's me, i can live with that. Playing the Nostrdamus cd in it's entirety without any classics will bomb due to tickets not being sold. I'm speaking for the States here in America. There just isn't enough of us die hard fans to sellout to many venues here in the States. Don't believe me? When's the last time you saw Dio, Whitesnake, Accept ect., they refuse to tour here in the States. Maybe elsewhere, but this country is in love with reality T.V. music wannabe singers? But if they should tour doing the whole cd, i'll be there. There are some really good powerful songs on Nostradamus, and some so,so ones. But then again i thought that of a cd called Sad Wings of Destiny, now one of my favs.? Just my 2-cents. |

I understand what you are saying.
Maybe they could do something like 'an evening with Roger Waters - Dark Side of the Moon' and do one half of the show with Nostradamus, and the other half with classics. Either way, it would be cool to see them play with a bit of an orchestra -- just for something different, and to push the boundaries a bit more than they already do.
Just a thought.... I'm with you loripip, I will catch them when they come around playing "Mary Had A Little Lamb" if that's what they decide (lol).
I didn't see them hardly at all from the time Halford left 'til AOR, and only God knows when they'll hang up their instruments (hopefully never!!!), so I will see them WHENEVER playing WHATEVER they want WHENEVER they want!!!
Rock On!!!

I don't know if playing the whole Nostradamus is the right thing to do either, but it's up to them. I think it's Judas Priest who see how many people show up at their shows every time they play, so they would know better than me or any other member of this minority that roams the boards if playing Nostradamus is the right thing to do.
Perhaps a one time play in the UK would be sufficient? The home crowd is always harder to please but can you imagine how much a recording of such a rare event would go for on Ebay?Think about it.
Also, if Maiden's AMOLAD is their best album, playing it is not a mistake. I feel you are forcing yourself to like AMOLAD. Perhaps analyzing Iron Maiden is best left for the Iron Maiden website. I've been listening to Priest and Maiden for over 2 decades and apart from being 2 english bands, I fail to see why one has to be compared against the other continuously.
As for Priest, Nostradamus is a tough subject to write songs about without sounding tacky and Priest pulled it off quite nicely. Who's to say what you should like and what you shouldn't like, metalmaz? And the same goes: who's to say the audience would actually like it played live and NOT walk out or go to sleep.

I think it would be a massive mistake. I love Priest, but I really don't like Nostradamus and it's not for want of trying.
Let's face it the Priest forum only makes up a very small precentage of the audience at gigs. And quite honestly many non forum members would walk out or go to sleep
Iron Maiden played the whole of A Matter Of Life And Death when they toured to promote that album. In my opinion it was a big mistake (and I think A Matter Of Life And Death is one of Maiden's best ever albums). And the ironic thing is Halford got the arse with Iron Maiden and said Priest had planned to do a concept album and play the whole of it on tour.
