Saturday it was above 50F here. Sunday 20's. Monday close to 30, tuesday mid 40's, today zeroF and snowing.
that light effect is from ice crystals in the air. you can also see sundogs (sort of ghost suns that are paralell to the sun on either side of it)
we had snow rollers here once. the melt, freeze, snow, wind combo we get a lot, but only seen them once, so they are quite rare.

It was so cold this morning that all light sources, (poles, headlights, etc.) were shooting beams of light straight up into the air on top of what ever direction they were pointing. I've seen it before but not very often. When you saw multiple lights it was a really cool effect. Especially with the mist from the cold air. Can anyone explain this? Also got to see blue ice. Not alot but tints of it here and there. I've seen that before also but again not often. It's actually quite pretty to look at. I live next to the Ohio River. One of the bigger rivers in the country and it rarely freezes over. It's about 3/4 frozen and looks awesome as hell. I haven't seen it like this in more than a decade. Lastly I got to see something today that I didn't even know existed. They're called "snowrollers". I guess a rare weather phenomenon that needs several things to happen for them to occur. An icy surface, a layer of snow, really cold temperatures, and high winds. The winds catch a piece of snow and blows it across the ground. It collects snow and looks like rolled padding or thick white blanket. Some are real small, some pretty big. Some say they are like snow tumbleweeds. I'll post a few pics.

Thats how the beginings of snow men looked like before you start to round them. Don't see any foot prints so I guess the wind did that. Odd.........never seen that before, or if I have I'm sure I assumed it was just where some kid was trying to build a snowman.

...Ohio, USA.
Talk about drastic weather changes. Possible high of 63 F. today and tomorrow.
Not only may they be record highs for this time of year but we may be getting something
I never heard before. Record high lows. I guess our lows the next couple of days will be
the warmest on record. If this is global warming bring it on. (half kidding)
We'd still get droughts and nasty summers. |

we have drastic changes day to day also. I would go along with your ideal highs and lows.
I have personaly seen a 24 hour temp change from +15C which is probably high 50's to -27C which is probably -15F. 40 degreeF swings in a day happen a couple of times a winter. at least if it gets cold and stays cold you have a chance to get used to it. this warming up thing is crap. today suposed to be 7 (low 40's. tomorow -12 probably 10F.
the good news is we dont get much rain. once june passes we stay dry most of the time. not as much snow as you might think either. about 4 feet a year. go 2 hours west thats 10 feet, go 2 hours from there 30 feet.

Feb. (you) avg. low 5 avg. hi 27
(me) 21 40
May 40 52
50 71
Aug. 73
82
Our snowfall is about half your avg.
You have a pretty drastic change between Nov. and Dec.
I think maybe I'll bitch about our weather less.
For me personally. Favorite high near 80

Man I never use celsius so I have to admit that had me confused.
Considering you were kind enough to take the time to post that I took the time to google a conversion chart.
Damn!!! I could never live where you live.
I'm not going to break it down like you did but I researched our weather to compare.
Feb. (you) avg. low 5 avg. hi 27
(me) 21 40
May 40 52
50 71
Aug. 73
82
Our snowfall is about half your avg.
You have a pretty drastic change between Nov. and Dec.
I think maybe I'll bitch about our weather less.
For me personally. Favorite high near 80

Welcome back, Guids. Can't wait for the pics.
It's finally starting to feel like winter here in Cali. And by winter, I mean nights in the mid to upper 40s (F) and days with temperatures in the mid to upper 60s. No snow, but we get rain every other week.

Just back from New Orleans. NCL Cruise I used just to book diving spots. Costa Maya, MX; Belize; Roatán, Honduras; and Cozumel, MX. Why post here in the weather report? Just about 76 F at the bottom of all ports!! Pictures to follow once I am able. SUCKS to be back. Cold and rainy in New Orleans!

I will take warm, not hot. once you pass 25 degrees C I get tired of it quick. I dont mind the cold for the most part, once you pass the -25C I start to lose patience with it. just keep the snow off my sidewalk and I am fine.
