Hi everyone! I just wanted to stop by to wish you all a merry metal christmas and a happy new year. I wish you all the best of the best and that you and your beloved ones have a good time together. I don't think I'll be around during the holidays so I wanted to tell you that today. I hope that next year brings us a lot of great music with this new metal monster FIREPOWEEEER!! (I'm so excited) and that we don't get distracted with things as meaningless as the R&R HOF, which doesn't really determine if a band/singer has any influence whatsoever...metal has always been marginalized by the industry so this was not going to be an exception...probably they'll get all the recognition they deserve when they are dead. As for us, let us worry about the real deal that is this beast that is priest and that is preparing a new blast of heavy metal.
Love you all!

Oh, come on. We all know how "innovative" and "what a contribution / influence to the genre" Bon Jovi has been over the years. After all, that is the stated mission of what the R&R HoF tries to identify.
I don't dare ask how Bon Jovi has influenced people. Hell, what is the genre? I personally don't mind 'em. Props to Richie. Good sense of humor with Jon. Hell, Triumph sums it up pretty well....

Yup, I saw that pic. Vinyl, if I remember correctly. Yes, definitely torture, especially when one wonders as to their fate. Will they be sold for, like, $10 more just 'cause they're autographed, or will they be raffled off? Or will they be given to the first 100 or so fans that pre-order an album? Arrrgh, the suspense!!!

I think the fan vote is relativly new.
you want to know the final numbers for this years fan vote, that might be doable. anythning else, nah
Oh, of course. Why I was asking about the TOTAL number of votes. How many times they were nominated is right by their years. LL Cool J was nominated 4 times...in four different YEARS. Rufus...two times = two YEARS. Certainly not publishing their super-duper secret votes by an opaque society of dimwits one by one. Big unveiling to come on the 13th of December, of course. Stated right there on the page.
My comment was just that I am amazed to see those goofballs nominated a couple+ times and was curious to know the total FAN votes of the top five. Six or seven, really. Would have liked to have seen how much higher they were against the Killers or Eurythmics.
Head banger wrote:

However the single fan vote is about meaningless. there are hundreds of voters in the pool. Bon Jovi is a lock. RATM and radiohead are probably in. JP came 5th in the fan vote, 5 get in, not sure they make it. Not the way I would do things but in reality these fuckwits cant name an album so..

I am waitng to see where it lands, I might bite the bullet and fly to Mexico to see them, this could very well be it for Priest @ Guido, I went and looked at my stub, Painkiller "90" my ticket was $30 canadian all in , "86" fuel for life tour was $20.50 all in Lo
[Nupe The Ripper] Sunday, December 03, 2017 10:44:54 AM
Actually, I just checked hotel prices. Because Hyvinkää is a fairly small town most of the hotels in the city and near it are already fully booked (much of them probably by the artists and their crews). The few rooms that are still available cost 300 euros. For one night. Normal prices are like 70-80 euros for a night!
I really need to figure out some way of making this work. I'd hate to miss the show.
[Head banger] Sunday, December 03, 2017 8:44:15 AM
As HB I dont often travel to see shows. Last JP tour I was hoping that I could travel for work to a city they were in, then got hit with a travel ban. So far I went to Edmonton to see Metallica. luckily thats less than 3 hours, but only really did that because my daughter wants to see them. its a 12 to 15 hour drive for me to see JP upcoming. just not sure how I am gonna make this all happen. Yup, I feel for most of us! Same problems. When reading Nupe's post, I was thinking the same. Sure, more disposable income now but I am ALSO looking at that same scenario. Costs, travel, time, hotels. I think back to my Detroit '90 Painkiller ticket stub of, what $10-20 USD? (... and smile....)

Regarding the ticket prices... for the first time I'm actually really having to consider whether or not I'm going to see them. Their only concert in Finland is at the Hyvinkää Rockfest, and one-day tickets cost 89 euros. Add to that travelling to the location and a possible hotel room and I'm looking at a potential 150-170 euro bill at least. On the other hand, two-day tickets cost a "mere" 119 euros, so I could max out the entertainment factor and go see Ozzy Osbourne on Wednesday (none of the other bands in the festival are interesting to me). Although that could mean another expensive night at the hotel...
In comparison: in 2011 I saw them at Sauna Open Air in Tampere, and only went to watch them. A one-day ticket there cost 58 euros, plus train tickets there and back which were 29 euros. That's 87 euros in total, still less than just the ticket to the Hyvinkää festival. Granted, I was a student at the time so I got a 50% discount on train tickets; with normal prices the whole trip would've cost me 106 euros. Meanwhile their indoor concerts at the Helsinki Icehall have always been 50-60 euros, and travel there has been almost free because I've been able to use local public transport.
On the other hand, I have far more disposable income now. During the previous years I've either been a student or unemployed, but now I'm in my first full year of a properly paid job and it looks very likely I'll be continuing for at least much of the next year as well. So the idea of splashing upwards to 200 euros to see two great heavy metal acts, one of whom is definitely retiring and another which might follow suit quite soon as well, is certainly tempting.
-------------
As for the new album, it certainly looks and sounds like another masterpiece! Will definitely preorder it ASAP.

I'm actually "not" going to Judas Priest and Saxon here in kent wa. I'm not paying $200 plus $bucks to see a fuckin concert when I'm in terrible extreme financial hardship and it just doesn't make any sense to fuck myself further in debt just to see Judas Priest or anybody for that matter. Couldn't enjoy the show anyways because my mind will be on $$$$ instead of absorbing classic priest in front of me. I did see the redeemer of souls show in the Tacoma dome November 2014 and it was superb....saw Saxon headline in Seattle studio 7 October 2013 so I think I'm good to go on seeing concerts anymore. It would blow your mind if you were in my $ shoes $ my priorities are focused on $$$$ and $$$$ only. Come income tax time mid February I could actually afford tickets if they aren't sold out but again...I'm not shelling out $300 bucks to get a decent seat ....the show at the Tacoma dome 3 years ago was a lot cheaper and the Saxon show 4 years ago was even cheaper.
However .....if $$$cssh was no big deal to me and I didn't have to sweat it financially and could throw around money like playing cards then I'd be there . I will 100% be buying the firepower album the day it's released that's for sure. It's not the bands fault for ticket prices and its not the bands fault I'm fucked financially either,so I will hopefully love the new album my fingers are crossed ...but pretty sure my concert days are over. At least the last 2 concerts I've seen was Saxon 2013 and Judas Priest 2014 so I'm good to go. I do wish the rest of all of you a great time seeing the show ,meet and greets etc....absolutely ....if I were in your shoes I'd be going too. So at this point I'm excited to just buy the firepower cd and be happy they are even releasing a new album.

Oh, I'll keep the calendar clear for Ohio (bleah....Ohio State? Really?!?) should the mighty Priest take pity on that miserable organization called the pfft R&R HoF but ONLY 'cause of Priest / KK!
Sorry to say that I won't be at the Masonic this time around. Tix, yes, but someplace closer to work. HOPE I can even make that show! To be seen. Still hoping for that summer tour....
See you in the D Guido!! You'd better keep the dates around the R&R Hall of Fame induction ceremony open. I have heard from my DJ friend that if Priest gets in, they will play a show at Public Hall in Cleveland WITH KK!! FUCK YEAH!! THE SINNAAAAHHHH!!

As for merch? Dayum. We gonna throw THAT into the mix, we are talking bank loan here!
Yup, I got tix. Hoping for a closer venue / summer tour but will take what I can get! Now....voting...THAT is free! Catching the Eurythmics! Vote often!!!

It's actually $180. Doesn't even include the $20 parking pass and the merch that I will definitely buy.

Sorry to hear 'bout that, JD. I'm afraid I'll to face the same decision regarding JP in LA. $200 for GA pit. NOPE! I went to their 2014 concert, and I do NOT recall having to pay so damn much for GA pit. I'll just keep my hopes up and wait for a price dip. But if that doesn't happen? Then...next time, fur sure. Like you, at least I have my happy memories of previous concerts.

Were you watching those numbers? They SPIKED against the Eurythmics overnight and then slowly overtook them. That just wasn't normal. I play with computers far too much to know computer-generated numbers when I see them. Either that or people voted in the 10s of thousands overnight! Oddly enough, I was also asked to suddenly identify objects to "prove I was human" the following days. Seems I wasn't the only one to notice. R&R HOF is legit? My ASS!!
I'm still voting, though. Multiple times a day! ;) lol
As Acolyte - yah no thanks, I was lucky seeing Ozzy with Halford as the opener, it was a fantastic show,Ozzy was out on stage for I believe 21 songs and was in great form! Seen him on the Black sabbath tour, had the flu, looked terrible hit some notes, I went mostly to see Iommi play guitar, and for the cost of this farewell tour, I would rather have great memories of the 2010 show than a crappy recent one

HA! I saw Ozzy's LAST "goodbye tour!" Yup, No More Tears...
Wonder if I should see this goodbye tour as well? Never know if this will be the last goodbye, after all.

I believe that the top 5 in the fan vote get one vote each in the actual vote. so 5th is as good as 4th. But... out of 500 votes it probably makes little difference. thinking though the album and tour anouncement help the fan vote. Fingers crossed.
