I cant wait to hear the album ! but still i have to come back to the whole WHY LIE???.
These tracks HAVE been on other Judas Priest live albums before, maybe not by this line up so why not just say that.
All songs profomed by the definitive line up or something.
The band hyped up Ripper & the 2 albums with him, and for some we did our part & stuck by the priest.
I was over the moon when Rob came back & to this day still am, i dident even feel that bad for tim cause i new no way was his career over.
no way will i just pretend he was never a real member of the band just, a hired hand or something, would even be nice if priest played a song off jugulator & demolition would be very interesting.

I would love to hear them with Rob, I want the disc, I just object to the idea that JP has never released them as live tracks [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by JT_Small_Deadly_Space from Tuesday, May 26, 2009 7:30:21 AM) | | JT_Small_Deadly_Space wrote: | | I understand why people are reacting as they are at totally ignoring the Ripper live albums but am i the only one who wants to hear these tracks sung by Halford? This is a fantastic set that they have put together and to so many fans, Rob Halford is Judas Priest! Rob is my musical hero along with Scott as my drumming idol but i love the Ripper years they were brutal to say the least and awesome. However these tracks have been unreleased live with Halford so lets just be happy that the Metal God has returned and i wonder which version of Painkiller they will choose but i'm guessing it will be live in Tokyo 2008, his vocals were superb in that show! |

That's cool you are entitled to your opinion! Yeah i know a lot of people didn't like the Ripper years, but i bought Demolition when it came out as i was just getting into Priest and was unaware of the change in vocalists. So i kinda engaged in that era after hearing only a couple of albums with Halford, but Halford is the best. Actually i have been sceptical about Halfords voice on Painkiller and i agree it hasn'tbeen superb however he has done better performances than others whilst on tour these couple of years. Tokyo 2008 and I believe it ws Milan 2009 were better for screams but overall i would say he is better now than he was in 2005 as a couple of his screams were weak on the RITE version of the song. But he sure can scream in the song! |

You know 'Space, I do not wish to engage in an argument but I must disagree. Not just about Ripper, because I genuinely like the guy , but that era was NOT "Priest", for me. It was more like watching a Priest cover band. The music was not "classic" Priest. You're right about one thing, it was "brutal". It had a sound that was really not Priest, for me.
As far as Rob's vocals on Painkiller...well, it is my opinion that Rob has not sung that particular song well in MANY years. He cannot sing it as he did when it was written. It seems as though it is just too difficult for him. I love the song and I love watching them perform it but I just DO NOT think it is "superb" from a vocal standpoint. Not anymore. even if as a band they decide to diss ripper, fine and well I supose. they dissed a x drummer, probably more than one. but to discount the whole tours is an insult to all 5 members, and all the fans who stuck with them [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by Cobras-Aura from Tuesday, May 26, 2009 2:40:09 AM) |

Despite not having any radio hits, I think this is 'Priest's finest. This album perfectly displays the energy and intensity the band wanted to achieve by moving in this heavy direction back in '89 with the arrival of Scott. They have achieved that and this album will be sentiment to what 'Priest are truly about, at their purest. |

That's a lot of contradiction there
Personally, although I don't like the Ripper era, I don't think it was fair of 'Priest to say such a thing after he saved them. You know, I remember all of that, and I was more than a little upset about those comments (mostly from Glenn and Ian)...I don't know if they were trying to rally around their new mate or what, but that was way out of line...I think that may be a lot of the reason those 2 albums tanked like they did,,,didn't KK say something to the effect that he believed that if the 'Ripper' led Priest would have been a new band with a different name they would have been great??...maybe the rest of the band should have took his advice!!! & now they pretend he was never even in the band.
Dont get me wrong though im still 1000000% glad robs back, it just annoys me sometimes. |

Wow. This setlist even surpasses my expectations:
JUDAS RISING
HELLRIDER
BETWEEN THE HAMMER & THE ANVIL
RIDING ON THE WIND
DEATH
BEYOND THE REALMS OF DEATH
DISSIDENT AGGRESSOR
A TOUCH OF EVIL
EAT ME ALIVE
PROPHECY
PAINKILLER
I was seriously expecting to see the usual greatest hits setlist. I was hoping to see Metal Gods (I love it how they play it so slow and heavy now) but I really can't complain. Priest doesn't hesitate to deliver for their diehard fans, and I'm happy they delivered again. Edited at: Monday, May 25, 2009 12:36:04 AM |
