Jugulator just honestly seemed like a logical progression from painkiller.

I am with you on ranking AOR well above turbo though.  how you got NOST there though...  ah well its only opinions

Actually Head Banger to me Painkiller DOES NOT sound americanized to me,never crossed my mind in 1990 or inbetween either so its hard for me to hear that.It was Jugulator that sounded americanized to me. And I also disagree with Metallian saying how it sounds like a "thrash" album?? No way in my opinion does Painkiller sound anything remotely close to "thrash"?

I've heard many people say this and for the life of me I can't find any  sounding parts in the entire Painkiller LP? Metal Meltdown is fast british heavy metal,Painkiller the title track is pure british heavy metal at its heaviest and All Guns Blazing sounds heavy metal to me.  Maybe to some people it does?

The only thrash sounding elements in Priest's history could be when Ripper sang the "Mulilate" part in the Jugulator song? No? Hummmm.  As far as Turbo....3 songs I can possibly tolorate...Out In The Cold,Wild Nights and Reckless.

But....6 songs...I just can't fathom how  Turbo Lover,Locked In,Private Property,Parental Guidance,Rock You All Around The World,Hot For Love can beat any other Priest album, even Nostradamus has better heavier metal songs on it,so does Demolition or any other Priest album in my opinion. It just goes down to the fact that its hard for me to understand why people like this LP but I must accept people like this big pile of bullshit hahaha!!!

I must admit though, people (Hellrider you included haha) rating Turbo higher than Angel Of Retribution is a slap in the fuckin face to me this weekend hahaha!! aarrghhhhh whyyyyyyyyyy!!!!! Nooooo!!!!!! lol

 LOL!
Yeah i remember going home and playing the cassette tape and wondering like u did!
And after that it never got played much!
The only thing that saved my metal hunger that year was Metallica's "Master Of Puppets",that album brings back great memories of 86-87 that is for sure!
Unlike Turbo!
Damn it,i am still on this thread!

Fuck!!!!!!!!!!!!

LOFL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have to admit that it does bring back both good and bad memories. I try only to think of the good, but I remember running to the store the day it was released and throwing it on the turntable the second I got home. I was extremely disappointed with it. I really couldn't believe what I was hearing. How the hell can you go from DOTF to THAT? But..... it did have the energy and feel of the times back then and for me those were good times. Turbo was the first Priest show that I ever went to, so that probably helps me not hate it as much as I would. Again, Out In The Cold is really the only song that I ever listen to and still love on that album. It is one of the few Priest albums that I never play and is at the end of my list as well, right next to Jugulator and Demolition.

Fuckin sad hey, they went from the awesomeness image of metal on Defenders to that!
Fuck man,sad sad sad!

Unlike some folks here that Turbo brings back memories of it playing on car stereos and shit, for me it just brings back saddness, dissappointment and people making fun of the so called "New Priest" in 86.

It was a dark and depressing time the year 1986 was!
And i still can't watch that dvd from that tour either, the one on the Electric Eye DVD flimed in TX.

You are not alone JD,you are not alone!
I still remember that year and man was that a terrible year for metal.
As soon as Jan 1 1986 came metal as we knew it was all over and done with!
After an awesome asskicking album like Defenders they put out Turbo!
Ram it Down was ok and i liked Painkiller alot at first but the more i listened to it the more i felt like what Headbanger said!
They seemed more like an American Thrash band!

Turbo and playing on American Idol are the 2 biggest dissappointments i ever experienced being a fan of this band!
Actaully,25 years later and i still can't listen to Turbo, makes  a great coaster tho!

LOL!

The Defenders tour and album is the best, the music and the image and stage was awesome!
All the leather and studs!Awesome!

Well,my opinion isn't the right one I just wish it was ha!  Well, while everybody my age was partying, whooping it up and enjoying the Turbo album in 1986 I was NOT. I was so damn pissed off at Judas Priest for doing this to the fans,it was black leather, studs & black cloths with killer metal albums to worship and comming off an album titled Defenders Of The Faith I just couldn't belive what was happening.

It was such a low point for myself in the realm of heavy metal. Priest did Turbo,Maiden did Somewhere In Shit and Sabbath was dismembered,Ozzy did the shitty Ultimate Sin album and even underground heavy metal bands like Exciter put out crappy LPs in 1986.

I spit on Priest for 2 years untill I got the Ram It Down album which still didn't make me 100% happy but I was starting to get there, then by 1990 we finally got another real british heavy metal album.  The memories I personally have of Turbo and the era in 1986 were all shit, horrible year for heavy metal with only a handfull of exceptions.

Thats why i hate the album so much and even 25 years later in 2011 I still hate it just the same,I wish they would of never done it. Probably K.K.'s idea haha!

I'm so glad to hear that I'm not the only one that feels this way about Turbo! When I listen to it, I feel just like I did back then with very few cares in the world and nothing but good times with great friends! Out in the Cold is the only song that I really love off the album, but I remember shooting hoops for hours with Turbo cranked pissing off the neighbors..... aaahhh, good times!

I really have to defend Jugulator. It met my expectations of a good album more down to earth and I've had a great time listening to it. Nostradamus causes me to have split emotions, as there are little gems in there but that somehow they've decided not to follow through.

Amen! Very well said! It does, indeed, capture the era when it was released quite well. Only think I'd add is that it has some tunes that I genuinely love!

jd, with turbo for me its not so much about the musicallity of the album , but the memories that album provokes --  priest cranked and dragging cars downtown and then off to a party or just find a quiet stretch of road and  pullover  and smoke a little and drink a little and listen to turbo and defenders with like minded people ,.its corny, but its '86 and turbo is  cranked,  big hair everywhere, pulling mainers  ,  good times !!!!!!
[Brian_Evans] Friday, July 15, 2011 10:13:35 AM
I agree man, Turbo is better than Nostradamus which is the worst Priest cd of all time. Ripper cd's are better than Nostradamus.

It's better than "Nostradamus".(LOL)

What kills me is how much people dislike "Ram It Down".
Let the hatemail roll but I think it's as good as "Painkiller".
I only put 5 songs from "Painkiller" on my classic. I have 9
from "Ram It Down".
[J.D. DIAMOND] Friday, July 15, 2011 3:37:39 AM
I find it utterly repulsive and sickening that all 4 of you guys have "Turbo" up the list what not......I just can't fathom how the utterly retarded Turbo album can possibly be better than "any" other Priest album? lol! Its all opinions yeah, but this just fucking sickens my stomach to the fucking fullest. Turbo? Really guys? "WOW".   "SIGH"...carry on,carry on.....(jeeze).  FUCK I HATE THAT MOTHER FUCKING STUPID RECORD WITH A PASSION !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Oh yeah...carry on carry on....lol
