Yes, JP are professionals and they always put out 100% so I'm sure that they will play just as energetic to 5,000 as they would to 16,000 people. I also can not believe the popularity of these crap musicians proliferating the music scene. It's all due to corporate pushes which determine which music gets the advertisement and play. There are some bands that draw big crowds with zero radio and corporate selling (Phish comes immediately to mind) but they are few and far between. JP are the metal godfathers and a return to their roots will help sales (no more Nostradamus, Turbo or RID nonsense), look at AC/DC selling out huge arenas. JP was more popular then AC/DC but Turbo, RID and Rob leaving and I believ Nostradamus killed JP's momentum. Edited at: Friday, July 24, 2009 7:18:32 PM Edited at: Friday, July 24, 2009 7:19:00 PM

HA! I agree Freeze, a lot of people, especially the youth of today, wouldn't know good music if it bit them on the bum. Hell, even my MUM, who is 50 next year, seems to think Lady GaGa is fantastic - when she came and stayed with me for a couple of days we drove around in her car, Lady GaGa playing the WHOLE TIME! I'VE SEEN PRIEST 65-70 TIMES AND THEY NEVER EVER PUT ON ANYTHING LESS THAN A SPECTACULAR SHOW. I SAW HALFORD (FIGHT) AT A SMALL CLUB IN BROOKLYN NEW YORK AND AT B.B. KINGS RESTURANT IN MANHATTAN, MAYBE 500 - 1000 PEOPLE AND IT WAS AWSOME.
[oneshotatglory] Friday, July 24, 2009 1:50:00 AM
Yeah, but what I love about Priest is that they give it their all regardless of the crowd size. I have seen them play for 20,000 people and for 2,500 people and the energy and passion were the same. The economy sucks and the curiosity of the reunion tour is behind them so it is tougher, but again they put on an awesome show in Cincy.

OneShot - Man how the times have changed, JP even with Whitesnake can't sellout a 5,000 seat venue! Man, I hope they draw more then that for their show at Merriweather Post because that place holds at least 16,000 people! I remember when JP was easily packing 20,000 seat arenas.

Hey DoggieDogma - I was at the Cincy show last night and would guess there was roughly 4,000 people there in a venue that holds 5,000. It was an amazing show. Whitesnake put on a good show and I actually didn't mind PopEvil, but I am always amazed by how Priest just takes it to a different level. They are so tight and Rob's voice was as good as I have heard it since they have been back together. Awesome show!

I'm kind of disappointed that I didn't get to hear HELL PATROL live on this tour... Don't get me wrong, I love RHRF, but Hell Patrol is one of my favourite songs off of Painkiller (thanx. to one Scott Travis!)
I'll still say this, Priest absolutely electrified (July 3rd) the night when I saw them live! And fireworks after the show? Amazing. Can't wait to see 'em again!

The webmaster did add a feature in which you can only get PMs from friends. Go to "Admin.", choose "Edit Profile", and near the bottom there will be a checkbox and a statement that says "Only Accept PMs from friends". Check that box and click on "Save". Now it was time for Judas Priest. They are to play the 1980 album “British Steel” in its entirety. A front drop with a silhouette of the Birmingham, England steel factory was put up during the set change. The lights were killed and a laser show of a mill worker pounding steel was shown. Curtain down, we have “Rapid Fire”. It was intense. The Metal God Rob Halford appeared, dressed in denim and leather and sporting a blonde goatee.
Priest ripped through the album flawlessly, yet found a way to make a heavy album even heavier and more metal than it was in 1980.
But of course, there was more. After Priest got through the nine-song British Steel set, they went right into “The Ripper”. They followed with “Prophecy” from the “Nostradamus” album before closing with an incredible showing of “Victim of Changes”. Halford hit the final high notes dead on. It was amazing.
The band left the stage for a few minutes and then we heard the revving of the Harley (which has only eight stage miles on it). He comes out in all leather and performs “Freewheel Burning” on the bike.
The night ended with “You've Got Another Thing Coming” as security allowed the crowd to get closer to the stage.
As usual, guitarists Glen Tipton and K.K. Downing were tight. Scott Travis makes playing some of the hard and fast song very easy and Ian Hill hung back while laying down the bass.
The stage was simple. Two Union Jacks flanked the drum riser. Travis’ double bass had the British Steel album cover on it along with the backdrop. Part of the rig lighting was shaped like the Priest cross logo which was very cool.
I came into this show with high expectations from both bands and left beyond amazed. I will have to put this up there as one of my all-time favorite shows. Job well done by all.

Please let me know how the well the attendance figures have been; I'm curious to know if JP still has the drawing power (especially with them doing BS) to sell out 10,000 seat arenas. I'm going to the Merriweather Post show with 2 friends and this outdoor pavilion holds 17,000; I hope JP at least sells out the pavilion seating but I have a feeling that the place wil be 1/2 full, and that is being optimistic.

Saw Priest last night in NJ 07/11/09. The biggest highlight for me was Diamonds & Rust. Priest really put this on another plateau and there is a reason it is an encore. What a treat to hear the electric version again OMG. The British Steel set was fierce with Rapid Fire, Old to be Wise & Steeler as the standouts (IMO) and The Rage was a pleasant surprise. The Ripper always does it for me...Prophecy seemed out out of whack with all the old stuff being played. They incl. Hell Patrol rather Rock Hard Ride Free, and Halford sounded great on it. The band was flawless especially KK going crazy on Victim & The Rage. The ho-hums were: United & Living After Midnight. Priest should have incl. proly 2 more songs to make it complete, but not playing anything from Stained Class HBFL or POE left a little bit of a void. The retro stage & the old style getup were very cool/nostaglic and it brought you back to the old days for sure. A buddy of mine wants me to fly down to FL In Aug. and see JP in St. Augustine. Im already looking into flights. It was that good and Priest should not be missed on this tour! MpleSyrp

Set list was still the same tonight in Minnesota... What a fuckin' concert, I lost my voice in the process! Rob's vocals were in the stratosphere, he's def. still does have it. The Priest never let's down, and this was one helluva concert. I've never heard british Steel performed so beautifully (The crowd behind me was going ape-shit when Painkiller was never played... I tried to tell 'em the set-list, but they wanted it, BAD!) I have some video of "The Rage", "Diamonds & Rust", and Rob's crowd warm-up & YGATC. Hope to get 'em up, great view from where I was. Priest played from 8:30 PM - 10:03 PM, then we all watched the fireworks explode overhead. Nothin' better than a concert on an island.

While the setlist is pretty fine, I'll give my impression of it all. I think the entire tour, playing all of British Steel is slightly nostalgic, something that Rob said Judas Priest will never be. They're playing only one song from this lineup...Prophecy. Nice to see electric Diamonds And Rust, as well as the bone chilling Freewheel Burning. Does Scott play it with double bass like he did with Fight in 1993/1994? A bit disappointing to hear the set is only 70 minutes long, more songs would be good. Something heavier would be great like One Shot At Glory or Demonizer or something. Edited at: Thursday, July 02, 2009 6:08:59 AM

That is a very short set, a little over 1 hour long ! I really hope that is not the whole show, otherwise that is a rip-off, all of BS plus 6 ( VOC, RHRF, Ripper, D&R, YGATC, Freewheel Burning and Prophecy). BS runs about 37 minutes, add the other 6 songs averaging 6 minutes per song (i'm being generous) and you have a set of 1hr 13 min - REAL SHORT! I already have bought 3 tix to the show at Merriweather Post so I'm going regardless, but I REALLY hope that JP adds some more songs onto this set or I will be upset! I would love to hear Sinner or Exciter or Screaming for Vengance - hint!

Someone on the Halford Q posted that it is indeed the electric version and NOT the accoustic version of Diamonds and Rust.
But I want to hear SINNER! PLEASE!!!! But at least I get to hear THE RIPPER! I LOVE that song
Is it just me, or does the setlist seem a little short considering British Steel is not a very long album? Is this a 90 minute show or is it shorter? Only 2 weeks to go until I see for myself - I can't wait [Show/Hide Quoted Message](Quoting Message by Maple Syrup from Tuesday, June 30, 2009 1:22:50 PM)
