Thanks Spa! I actually really enjoy drawing KK he's fun to draw.  The only thing I don't like is drawing their costumes LOL!  [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by spapad from Monday, September 21, 2009 8:13:05 PM)

It's hard to make the fingers look like the knuckle is comming forward while the fingers are fimly pressed down. I think it's a really good drawing Becks. Very good facial expression, it could be no other than Mr. Downing.

Very true but errors can be corrected, even the ones in pen and ink. It's a question of knowing how. You can use solvents with oil paint (and use walnut oil instead of linseed), a sharp knife for ink, and a lot of water for watercolors. My study is rather easy to correct since I didn't add gum arabic to the water.

Computer art lends itself quite easily to "redo" a mistake. Not the "ONLY medium", IOW. Heh....

While I don't see that your color distracted from the work, a vey wise person once told me it is easier to create life than resurect the dead. Speaking of art of course. It is damn hard to correct something when you feel you messed it up. The only media that truely lends itself to that is oil, and I hate working in oil! I hate the smell of linseed oil too! LOL

Thanks, spapad, I appreciate it. The upper arm is actually too big and there are way too many mistakes on it to be any good but it's the best I've done in a while, and I kinda tried to make the picture bigger to see better, didn't work, but thanks for the encouragement.
It's done in pencil and watercolor, I am applying several layers but perhaps I should have left it well alone in sepia. If it doesn't improve, I'll start all over again. I'm not after it being exactly like the picture because I like to give it my own little twist. Whoever took the photo was very close and it's a great posture. Now I have been toying with the idea of first starting to draw the naked figure and only then add the clothes so I have a better idea of what goes where, you see?

How did I miss this Beauty!? Well Done W.A.I.! Just curious, is it watercolor/guash or watered down arcylics? Very nice work, and the mechanics of the body are perfect! I bow to your superior capabilites! Awesome!  Fantastic!

LOL Robs hands aren't huge no, but he does have pretty long fingers. The fingers in the scan don't look as long as how I actually drew them LOL! I shaded the ends a bit dark compared to the pic LOL. Ah well, I'm always learning!

You did a good job with the hand. Have you noticed that Halford has small hands like a damsel?
The jackets he wears are really hard to draw anyway since most are complicated elaborations on the basic bomber jacket. I like your rendition of Halfords head.

I'm fairly happy with this one, by no means perfect or anything but anyways, here's Rob in action! LOL! The jacket looks funny cos the pic I took this from, the jacket is hanging open against his arm.

I think maybe it's a job to finish after I take a nap.
I was adding some highlights and then it doesn't look right.

Not too bad for the lack of practice, and far from perfect. . It's a large 18"x24". Will be finished tonight.

Doesn't matter which hand you use to draw. Sometimes the left does better than the right. Sorry to hear about your accident with your dog, you may be able to get back to drawing just fine, I don't think it will take that much to do it. Some people have no arms and still paint with their feet  You can do it - I appreciate your drawings and paintings.
Thank you for your insight. I don't know if I could draw something like that again myself.

Well, rendering to life artist's is called an iron Butterfly by my life artist teacher. He noticed I like to draw this way, and desuaded me from sketching this way, which took alot to get used to. I have some beautiful sketches buy I love my Iron Butterflies the best. He did, however see the completed portrait I did with my life size self portrait and Rob in the background and totally loved it! I got an A+ on that baby and the dean of the school of arts wrote on the back of it. "Susan, cant remember the last time I gave a student an A+ on this assignment, congratulations" Shame it got destroyed by a twit!
Get it?
