Hi everyone! Well I haven't been around for a few day, because 48 hours ago Craig got home from deployment (I had to go to another city to pick him up lol). Needless to say I am very happy he is home safe and sound!

I don't think this is a stunt, but I woul not put it past Maiden to do something like this. I think both bands care about their fans, but their mangment could care less. If you're selling tickets for the FINAL tour of AC/DC, you'd expect Angus to be there. If you're selling tickets for the FINAL Iron Maiden tour, you would expect Steve Harris and Bruce Dickinson to be there. The list goes on - the point being that I have bought tickets for something that turns out to be something else than what was ADVERTISED.
Every single person who bought a ticket, should be given a refund and an apology. Not some stupid management-statement about what a "great show" it will be.
Don't get me wrong - the issue is not that K.K is leaving, it's not a catastrophy that there's a new dude playing guitar - I mean, for god's sake, we survived the Ripper-era!
And I don't think any less of Glenn, Rob, Ian and Scott as musicians or members of Judas Priest.
NONE OF THAT is "the problem". The problem is announcing K.K's departure a month before the European summer-tour, when it's too late to cancel flights, rental cars, hotels and concert tickets!
MAYBE I wanted the opportunity to make up my own mind whether or not I wanted to see this "alternative Priest".
I wasn't given that chance. I feel like an idiot for having been PLAYED this way, tricked into buying tickets to something that is not what I expected to see.

Right again. As with everything else with this band since Halford returned the bottom line has been how to milk it for as much money as possible. Nobody here needs to know why KK left, it's obvious anyway. One party can't stand the other party. The fact is Priest have been underhanded and sneaky and have ripped off their fans again, particularly European fans who bought tickets to their shows not knowing KK would not be playing. I'm pretty much fed up with them. I didn't listen to the Ripper era and I won't be listening to the Faulkner era. The reality is Judas Priest, as a band, died in 91. It doesn't strike you as more likely that they were waiting because it would have affected ticket sales if they dropped the bomb earlier?
They "realised" that MAYBE they should say something - a month before the tour? Yeah.
Well then, I guess we're looking at this from different angles, no doubt.
I don't know who's to blame for this mess, and I wish I did. If I hadn't been a fan, I wouldn't have cared. Unfortunately - I DO care. And they can't go hiding behind a shitty management and their bad decisions, like a three-year-old hides behind mommy's skirt when shit hits the fan.
How can I go to a Priest-show now, feeling that they are genuine? I'm sorry, I just can't. At least not unless they tell us what really happened, cause I'm not buying the lame excuses given so far. | | Becks wrote: | | Just because we're not crucifying the band the way you are doesn't mean we're not taking it seriously you twit. "...they had waiting so long in the hope that KK would COME BACK. They finally realised the clock had ticked too long."
Oh please.
I agree, it's a band. I'm still going to as many shows as I can make it to. However, it is a shitty thing to do to sell tickets to people without telling them that KK has retired. They really shouldn't have booked dates without KK announcing his retirement first. I do think people have a right to be upset about that part of it. As far as KK leaving, it is his right to do so and Judas Priest has every right to continue on as a band. They have my full support - I will buy the new album and I will see them on tour as well. I have no doubt that Rob and Glenn have the ability to write an incredible album together!

Daniela P, I haven't had a lobotomy, but thank you for your concern..... to be quite honest with you, it was up to KK to announce this, not the rest of Priest. The rest of the band was giving him time to change his mind and until he announced it, they weren't going to. If you want to be pissed off at someone, then be pissed off at KK for not telling everyone back in December, if in fact, that is when he made up his mind. For all we know, he wanted to retire and was onboard with the farewell tour and THEN changed his mind. Rob said they knew before Christmas, but does that mean on December 7th when the tour was announced or later in December???? WE DON'T KNOW and most likely will not know unless someone eventually spills the beans. Judas Priest was waiting for KK to announce his leaving the band and they couldn't wait for him any longer. Notice how KK didn't even have anything to say until THE DAY AFTER Priest had no choice but to make the announcement? Having said all that, I would be seriously pissed off if I were you, spending hundreds if not thousands of dollars on plane tickets, hotels and tickets to the shows only to find out much later that KK is not going to be there. Most of the people that you are yelling at are in the States and haven't bought any tickets yet. Those that have for all the shows already announced, I really can't say that I blame you for being pissed.

Yeah that's true, it sucks for those who don't want to see Priest without KK but have already gotten tickets.

Fair enough waiting for a solid decision, from the sounds of it they waited for a long time for the final word from KK. It was all poorly handled, but I would rather it be settled than to have everything up in the air and find out when they walk out on stage, woops guess what KK is not here.
Yeah, Gaddafi would probably be very disappointed to not see KK shredding on 'Sinner', lol.

As I said in my first post on this subject, what would everybody be saying if AC/DC sold a shitload of tickets and then announced Angus would not be there? There would be an outcry. | | Becks wrote: | | Just because we're not crucifying the band the way you are doesn't mean we're not taking it seriously you twit. As for being lied to, if you have read Rob Halfords statement, they had waiting so long in the hope that KK would COME BACK. They finally realised the clock had ticked too long. It has been poorly handled by Priest MANAGEMENT, but I for one refuse to shit all over the band and treat them like crap because of this.

How can it be "good" when you've been lied to for 6 months you suckers.... Unbelievable.
And to think that some no-name dude is going to make the show better...? The best he can do is stay the hell out of the spotlight as much as he can and let Ian step out for a change. But it still won't change much. If I was in Priest, I wouldn't have been able to even walk out on a stage and look the fans in the eyes. I would have been too ashamed of what's being done in the name of Judas Priest. | | spapad wrote: | | I don't want to pour salt into wounds, but what would a show be like with a guitar player almost 30 years their junior on stage? I hate to say it, but I think he is going to step the pace up! This might be the most energetic we have seen Priest in years. Don't get me wrong, you know how much I love KK and if you don't just read my profile quote. But the prospect of new blood does pose the opportunity of more action, and a hard driven show?
Just putting the idea out there. A new way to look at things. Instead of demise, what about rebirth? Could happen.
KK, you know I will always love you! Would beg you on my knees to come back! But if no, I must look forward to something positive coming from this.
