A wonderful Sunday it has been too here, perfect weather for running a canoe slalom competition at our canoe club (thank goodness for the sunshine, I do judging at lower division events, which is awful when its cold). Didnt get to spend half as much time on the water as I would have liked, sadly, such is life.
Back to school tomorrow.... sigh. Time for me to go to bed. Goodnight all, have a good rest of Sunday/Monday.
[Becks] Sunday, April 26, 2009 4:11:09 PM
Morning everyone! Hope you are all well. I'm about to take the dog out for a run, then have some chores to do during the day. No rush for those though LOL!

Good (late) Sunday to all! The Princess and I decided to go out for breakfast this morning as we were up a bit late watching "The Wrestler" last night. Decent enough movie, I suppose. Kind of typical Hollywood but I like Mickey Rourke.

Good to see guido made it back alive!! HA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Insanity, my friend! Sheer insanity! Well, it is a nice day here in Vegas and I think I will barbeque tonight! I have baseball on the TV and all is well with the world. Hope all of you have a wonderful Sunday!!!!!

BLEGH too hot for me, I hate the heat, especially when running. I've had heat exhaustion/heat stroke (whichever it was) once and that is more than enough. I don't remember much, except suddenly lying on the ground when a moment before I had been playing a game of touch rugby, lol. And feeling very hot and ill.

HB, what do you mean crazy runners? (heh..sorry for the delay. Had to go shower off and try to take off the nipple band-aids without ripping out all three hairs on my chest HAAAAA!!!)

MG, I really don't know. Weather said it would be low 80s but it was higher. 86, easy. Very little to no shade on the course and bright sun. Dangerous mix, as you saw.

Thanks, I am sunburned on just about every exposed part and am positive that I'll feel it tomorrow but I'm pretty happy with my time. Not a personal best but I didn't want to push things today. I was really glad to see how well this race was organized. People lining the streets spraying you down with their garden hoses and watering / sports drinks / med at every mile marker. Could have EASILY been like Chicago last year. It was HOT!

Back from the marathon and all went well. Pulled off a 2 hour time for the half. Not bad as it was close to 90 degrees today and the course (first time for me) is just loaded with killer hills.

Such killers, in fact, that someone died. Sadly, I saw him. Came in on a stretcher right behind me. It was seriously hot. 30,000 started and thousands dropped out.

Morning everyone! I'm in a smiling mood today! I slept awesomely last night - only woke up once cos my naughty cat was ripping in to something in the kitchen LOL!
Joe! Drumming is going really well! I need to find some decent drum tabs or notations so I can play actual songs LOL (one I found for Living After Midnight sucked, but I have an alright one for Breaking the Law I'm gonna try). Limb coordination is coming along so well, better than I thought it would, still have occasional slip ups but thats to be expected if I've been playing for ages and am getting tired and grouchy LOL!
Oh man I would have been like ARGH if I stabbed my snare! LOL! Glad you got it sorted I don't need to worry about that whilst I am playing electronic drums, once I get a proper drum kit I will worry cos I tend to go hard out without realising LOL!

Happy Sunny DAY!!!!!!!!!!

[joedraper] Saturday, April 25, 2009 2:15:40 PM

Becks!! How's the drumming going??? I gotta tell you.. last week I had an unfortunate accident with my snare.. I kinda somehow put a stick through it.. I was playing so well and got right into the groove when.. splat.. well it was not a nice sound and the stick just didn't stop going down lol.

I only got a new head on thursday but man.. not cool. I guess it was worn and bound to happen but that's a lesson on why you should always keep a spare set of heads. The new one sounds pretty cool though.. very bright and tuned well. I'm pretty pleased because it's the first time I've replaced and tuned a head totally by myself. I felt this sense of acomplishment and then spent the night forcing my husband to listen to the kit to tell me if all the other drums were in tune lol. I think he was a bit deaf by the end of the night.

I'm at least up and running again.. was horrible just looking at an empty shell trying to get the head that I wanted.

I hear what you're saying with the limb coordination but it comes the more you play the more your body sort of just listens to you... le tme know how it's going!!!

LOL autos are definitely the way to go I reckon. I can drive manual easily too though, the vehicle fleet at my old workplace were all manuals, the best thing about them was when you take off in first gear you can put your foot down and tear off with the engine screaming before changing gear LMAO!

HA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! One of my uncles drives a manual car. Couldn't believe that the gear had to change in order to stop for a streetlight, and change again to go (at least that's what I remember the last time he drove me somewhere). I think I'll stick to an automatic car if I ever do learn how to drive.

If you've learnt an instrument previously it's not too bad cos you have learnt to read music before. The hard part with drums is getting your limbs to operate separately LOL!
