Wow, I would be upset as well. K2M is right. A Human bite can be very easily infected. I would take her to the Dr. and they may put her on an antibiotic (just in case) For scaring once it is scabbed Mederma works wonders and also Dr.s can prescibe an even better topical treatment. I would definantly want to know if this child who bit her has a history at the playschoool of acting out.
One good thing is the face is the fastest healing flesh on the body and it usually takes alot to permanently scar it.
Hope things go better for you and your child. [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by joedraper from Wednesday, June 25, 2008 11:25:06 AM)

Hello!!
What a fecking day I had yesterday. First, I totally left it for the last minute so it's my own fault, I need to get a fancy dress outfit for my 2 year old for friday morning. They're having a fancy dress day at school with the theme of people who help other people. So I got my son a fire fighters outfit, no problem there. I thought of sending Zoey as a nurse because she'd look really cute dressed as a nurse. I can't find anything remotely close to fitting her size and I tried to improvise by getting a white dress and just adding pips, lappels and nursy type logo's etc.. So now I have tomorrow to come up with something fantastic.. right
Then, yesterday when I went to pick up my children from playschool, I was met at the gate by the teacher who told me Zoey had been involved in an 'incident'.
So calmly I enquired about what had happened. I was told that a little boy had cornered Zoey and bit her. So I figured, the perp is probably a three year old, how bad can it be? I see my daughter from one side and she's acting normal and doesn't seem at all traumatized. Then she turns around and I see her cheek. Her whole cheek is covered in a fecking nasty bite. HER WHOLE CHEEK! I was in shock so I let it slide. Every time I look at the wound I get more and more angry and I feel I should've acted or been more assertive but I was just so shocked. I got to school this morning and they at least said that the perps mother feels terrible about what happened. Maybe I'm being mellodramatic here but if it was my son who'd bitten another child, I'd have asked for the victims phone number and at least called to apologize or find out if the other kid was ok. The wound is open as well as bruised. I've been disinfecting it so I don't think it'll get infected but I hope that it doesn't leave a scar. Any advice on what I should do? if infact I can do anything about this?

I would try everything possible to keep the cheek from scaring. I would establishe contact with the Perps Folks. Phone number, address. I would take my baby to the doctor and have the perps parents pay for any extra care involved. Bacteria is a major concern now. Seek doctor soon. Scars are forever. Try and stay calm and organize your plan of action. At some point let it out. I would be fucking Pissed. So let it out some where. What about the school. Just take care that you baby gets the immediate care to over come the initial injuries. I got my first full exposure to George Carlin's comedy during my very, very brief stint in college, 1986. My roommate had "Class Clown" and on the first listen I was on the floor laughing so hard I had tears in my eyes. Who can forget the "7 words" not to mention the agonies of growing up in Catholic school (not being Catholic, I have renewed sympathy)......getting the kid to laugh so hard he passed an entire cheese sandwich out his nose and thereafter it being considered a miracle and having to go through a debriefing by a Priest. Carlin was fantastic and funny and will be sadly missed. |

I guess that, you being an "East-Coaster", you may feel an even greater loss. You are SO right about his "attainability", if you will. He had a way of transcending cultures and generations and seeing things in a way that so many people could easily understand. Observational Humor, I believe.
I liken my grief to that which I shall surely feel on the day that Vin Scully passes. I know that day is closer than I would ever want it to be and I feel a tremendous forboding. Not that Vin is sick, but more because he is older and, much like Chick Hearn, he means so much to me and cannot last forever! Growing up with a personality of that nature in your life makes for an almost "family" feeling about them. You know?
Carlin will always be an inspiration to me. His thoughts and observations will serve as guidance for me and my life. Not that I rely solely on his memory or opinions, but more that I remember and I feel what it is that he wanted to tell us.
Rest in Peace, George. You now know the "truth". [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by Justin Kenny from Monday, June 23, 2008 12:52:21 PM) | | Justin Kenny wrote: | | Duly noted DF...Carlin was a massive influence on me as well. Anyone that actually reads any of my prose will clearly see the tremendous influence Carlin has had on me and my life. His inspiration has helped mold much of how I see this world. I cannot begin to tell you what a profound effect his death will have on my life.
Carlin saw things in a very special and unique way. For example; his thoughts on religion, while certainly much darker than mine, are a measure for me and my opinion on a "god" or deity. I have used his words, or at least his thought-pattern in this area many, many times.
I feel a great, personal loss. Carlin was a master of words and a genius not only in comedy but in grammar and proper English. One need only spend some time reading any one of his many books (of which I own all!) to see that this man knew the English language better than most. Certainly far better than me!
I realize this is a Priest site and I do hope that each of you will bear with me as this man meant so much to me, I feel as though I have lost someone very dear even though we never met.
We all grieve in our own way. I have shared much of myself with you and , at this most sad and difficult time, I come to you for the comfort I have found in the past. If you were not a fan of George Carlin, I can accept that....but I do not understand it. He was larger than life. He was a master. He was incredible. I will miss him more than words can say. |

Hi ya Valiant!! And to the entirety of our hallowed, inner sanctum better known as the Judas Priest Noticeboard, I bid you all a fond greeting to this particular Monday afternoon....hope today has gone better for you all than it has for me thus far... ....detours suck monkey-nuts...and it makes travel 'round here utter HELL...
....'tis why I tell people that 'Ithaca' really means 'detour.' It doesn't really...it's Indian for something far more earthly and innocent than that....but...it may as WELL mean 'detour...' 'cuz every summer, that's what happens. The city and county decide to band together and tear the bejeezuz outta every street, bridge, and thoroughfare that we transit drivers rely on heavily to get our ridership to and from places...LOL!!
I dunno...I guess SOMETHING has to come about to make up for the lack of ridership...what with 90% of the student body enjoying their summer breaks from either of the two campuses here. |

True.
Now, about Al Atkins: I used to think he was black (since he had the afro back in the day with Priest), but after seeing that pic of him in the autobiography thread, I was taken aback.
