HAAAA!!! I cheer whenever I can SEE the friggin' game (stuck at 45:31 as I type).

To be honest, I have no dog in this fight. I have been picking Spain all this time, but the Germans domination of Argentina worries me. Spain'll be up against it tomorrow.

Watching the Uruguay vs Netherlands semi final, GO THE NETHERLANDS! They've had a couple of good chances, hopefully they put some away soon.

Yeah it's stink that an African team didn't make it through. Ah well, such is the nature of sport.

I think that soccer is the hardest game to introduce it, but it could be done.  just as keeping time could be done a lot better.  but the earth is flat, resulting in a lack of interest.

hell they could have a couple of additional referees assistants that judged from behind the goal, or on the goal line or something.  its a bloody large field for three people to control.

Yeah, thats true, but on the other hand, its nice to see a South American team that isnt Argentina or Brazil get this far.

Too bad that no team from Asia or Africa made it to the semi finals. Especialy an African team would be nice, it is their cup, after all.

Meh, Argentina was a mob. They were only good against those teams that shit their pants when they heard they will be playing against Argentina. I sure wont miss them.

Im not sure that putting referees from big leagues would work, tho. One of the best referees from this cup comes from Uzbekistan, while the biggest disapointment was an Italian who refed the Mexico - Argentina match.

Lol... They actualy managed to hit the post three times before the ball finally rolled over the goalline... THAT is an achievement.

Still, they might surprise Germany. But I dont think so. Football is a game that lasts for 90 minutes, and the Germans win in the end.

As for cameras, I think they are "considering"... Which probably means no, but hope dies last...

Here I sit watcing the Wimbledon Championships (wasn't the Queen just there? Damn lady sure gets around) and, granted, the replay rule DID have unexpected effects such as the (now) common infraction of players looking up to their boxes before they decide to challenge a call overall, though, it has had very little effect on the gameplay. Why can you take 30+ second out of soccer / football + ANY other major sport while Larry, Moe and Curley argue a call and still not have it affect gameplay? Mute point, I say.

FIFA (among others) should move their asses into the modern world. Not to even have to EXPLAIN an infraction. Too much, man. I see no logic behind it. Let's just blindly accept what they say as "true." Oh yeah, the earth is flat and people in Africa spend the hot part of the day on their backs covered by the shade of one giant foot.   [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by Head banger from Sunday, July 04, 2010 7:39:58 AM)

there are times it slows down hockey.  but thats rare.  it has natural pauses that soccer should not.  but if you gave them a 30 second limit the ref can delay it for that long.

I'm not sure, there must be a reason floating around somewhere LOL!

Yeah JJ I reckon some of the refs must be a bit 'star struck' or whatever. Who knows, but there's been some abysmal reffing at this world cup.

Great display from Krauts. Argentina had no reply and gave it away second half. Very low key sideline display from Maradona, expected him to be psyched for this one as he has been in previous games but he just looked nervous and failed to provide inspiration. Nothing from Messi, Tevez tried hard, he was the only Argie that fought till the end. Germany were just awesome though.

Spain still looked far from convincing in their game. Fernando Torres should be benched for the semi, he's started every game and done nothing. Paraguay had their best game of the tournament. Unlucky.

I think the problem with these penalties and referees stems from the refs not being qualified to ref at this level. It's fucking ridiculous to have these refs from Japan and this clown from Guatamala reffing these big games. All the refs from the second round onwards should be from the big league, Premiership, La Liga, Bundesliga and Serie A. They won't be starstruck by the big name players and are used to being in charge on the big stage. I've seen it on a number of occasions in this cup where the refs are almost sucking up to the players when there's a dispute about a decision. All smiles etc. The refs have to be tougher on the players. Dives should be ignored or carded and player dissent should not be tolerated. Just send a few guys off and it'll stop.

Sepp Blatter and his cronies won't do anything about bringing in replays. He's to busy accepting kickbacks, screwing high end hookers, staying in posh hotels and getting his ass kissed to actually do any work.

Ok, technology aside and at the risk of sounding like an American bellyacher (which I am not, whomever thought USA would win is a fool...I still stand..albeit tentatively by Spain), FIFA not having to even EXPLAIN why they disallowed the USA goal?!? WTF?!? That is so backassed that it isn't even funny. Call it like you see it, great, but I ask for nothing but a small explanation. Even the umpire who got the call wrong against the baseball player who threw the perfect game apologized. Sincerely, at that.
