Good choice!! [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by Deep Freeze from Wednesday, November 05, 2008 6:41:22 PM) | | Deep Freeze wrote: | | OK gang, we need your help! We are about two weeks away from recording and we have decided on a name for the album. We are calling it:
Forged Steel
We are asking the creative minds here amongst us to design some artwork like we had on Raw Steel. As many of you may recall, Corrosive Subsiding submitted the "winning"entry and it was excellent! Our only request on this one is that you somehow incorporate KK and Glenn's guitars, crossed at the neck like they do onstage at the end of a show. OK? |

Well folks, there it is from the man himself! As I have been saying, this recording will be far and above what we did two years ago. We have better equipment, more time, more experience and added talent. I guess if there is anything that I am disappointed in, it would be that we do not have Mick playing bass this time around. Mick Fallacaro is an absolutely incredible musician. He will be missed and it will be noticable, unless we can find another of his level. I just do not think we will. We have had the offer out there for months and had NO takers.
I know that MM has more talent in his pinky than most musicians have in their entire bodies so I am confident that he can do the parts we need to complete the album but it is terribly disappointing to lose a talent like Mick. He and Jim made the bottom end of the music perfect. Those of you that are musicians will know what I mean. The percussion and bass are the glue. The foundation on which the song is built. In Priest, what Ian does is so very often overlooked but, I can guarantee you, he would be missed the minute he was taken out of the equation.
Fortunately, MM is correct. We are not tied to the time constraints we had last time. MM owns the equipment and he can work on completing this long after Metallark and I have come and gone. By the time we release this album, it will all be perfect. Our pledge to you this time is a MUCH better product. The originals are very cool and our choices for Priest music are varied and wide ranging, just like last time! We are doing a bit more of the darker material this time around and I think that will appeal to a larger audience. Of course, there will be a couple "fun" tunes included! All in all, I believe you will enjoy this album. I know we will do our very best to make sure of that!!

Hi all....I know I havent chimed in much on here but I do have to say that this recording will be much better than the previous. I say that because I have been slowly working on these for a month now and it is all coming together nicely. the sound quality is 10 times better, much more clarity than before and with all the time in the world to work with, we will produce a much nicer product. Before, we had to rely on rented equipment and a limited time frame in which to do it in. Now we have flexibility to experiment and get things right.
In addition to the numerous Priest tunes, there will be several original pieces on this recording as well and lyrical contributions from Freeze and Metallark towards those. This will be the 1st opportunity for me as a musician to get the music I write out to those other than those near me. I for one and thankful for this forum to be able to do that. I am also extremely thankful for the level of musicianship that is contributed to this project. You all know Freeze's talent but I have heard what Metallark can do and you will be pleased. We again have the extraordinary talent of Jim Gleason behind the drum kit but we are still looking for a bassist or I will do it!
In summary, you will all like what you hear and I am sure there will be more to come in the future...Take care all....
Hey Freeze.....Are we still rock stars in Argentina?? lol |

WOW! Honorable words from an honorable man!! We are so lucky to have such talented people in our membership! We are looking forward to the recording week! Metallark, I am so excited that you have decided to join us! Your passion will show in the music my friend! You are well aware of what I speak. I have often said that singing Priest songs is a lot like spending time with a very old and dear friend. You just know it. It is always comfortable and always right. It just comes naturally.
This is going to be one HELL of an album! And how interesting that our stories are so similar!! Just get there and let it flow, my friend. The passion will show.
On another note, the Princess has just given her stamp of disapproval to Demonizer!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAAA!!!! I was practicing this morning and she came in and said the words are very "disturbing". HA!!!!!!!!!! That seals it! You KNOW it is good metal when a mom disapproves!!! HAHAHAHAHAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am so looking forward to particpating in this project and to meet DF and MM. Words can only to begin to describe this opportunity; energinized...pumped...excited...ready to rock.
DF put it best on his elaboration on what it once was to wonder about past "Rock and Roll" dreams at a young age. I too chose the same pathway of getting a degree, to have a family, and contribute to society (my wife may debate that statement...LOL).
These guys have done such a wonderful job creating anticipation and excitement with these Projects. I can only say it will be an honor to work with these guys and to be part of the music. I will give it my heart.... |
